Becca Scott is one of my favorite humans. She makes the whole process easier. I'm usually slightly intimidated by new games, but these videos make learning, along with the mistakes and failures, just a fun little adventure along the way.

Thank you for explaining this clearly! A couple other videos didn’t explain the one hive rule or the sliding movement very well at all. Now if you could explain the rest of my games I will be here all day…
Pill bug? I got the same pocket edition as a Christmas gift earlier today, and it only came with the ladybug and mosquito expansions. I’ll have to look it up.
can you protect your queen by putting your beetle over it? what happens when it gets surrounded? did the other player win? what if you put the white beetle over the black queen (thus is considered white queen) when it gets surrounded, black wins, even though initially it was a black queen?
Yes, as long as the beetle is next to the queen to defend, and a possible block is nearby any spots that could be there to surround it. Also, no. If either color surrounds the white queen, black would win. And vice versa. And beetles do not change their typing. They're always beetles.
With a bit of a chess influence too with each bug type moving very differently from each other like chess pieces would. Also in the fact that there is a king that needs to be killed to win.
No I think you mean Beetle, only Beetles (or a Mosquito using the Beetle ability/power) can climb atop of the hive. A Pillbug cannot climb up, nor leave another piece atop of the hive. You can win / loose a game with a Beetle covering a Queen. It's a very successful tactic to have a Beetle on your opponents Queen - blocking the Queen from moving
So much clearer than all the other tutorials out there. Basics all covered and no aspects missed.

This game has a real buzz about it. Strong (honey)comb-itment to the bit too. Okay, I'll beehave now.. Wouldn't want to bug anyone.
My eyes hurt because I had to roll them so much
This made me smile 😊

thank you very much for teaching to play hive greetings from Bolivia
I have the pocket version and really enjoy it. I've also got the ladybug, mosquito and pillbug expansions. Nicely portable game.

What's the name of the background song at the end? Great video btw.
Thank you!
so it's kind of like a modified version of Go. cool!

If I surround my opponent's queen, but my pillbug is on top, do I have to move the pillbug first revealing the queen before winning?
No

Got mine Carbon Edition today...
This game only made 3 expansions, lady bug, pill bug and mosquito. They never made another one
I dont get why you wouldnt just keep the ants all for the end cause then you can ALWAYS surround the queen?
The queen can move in whatever direction you haven't covered, and then all of your ants are trapped in a chain with the queen at the end of it.
@@DawnshieId thankyou so much
