  • Thanks for watching this video about the game HIVE. After going back and watching the footage, I realize that both Cristina and I made some mistakes. Cristina could have won the game a whole turn sooner, and she could have caused more problems for me by moving her bee. I foresee for Let’s Play videos with this game in the future…

    At about 11:43 during the game, the white grasshopper entered the game next to the black ant. Wasn't that against the first placement rule? The white piece entered and touched black. Or did I miss something (as I often do)? Thanks in advance.

      I'm just trying to learn the rules and this also jumped out to me me straight away. Definitely not a legal move from what I understand.

    This was great! Slow explanation and the talk through --- during game play really gave me a clear understanding of how to play.
    Wanted to ask. If you manage to get your beetle, on top of your opponents bee, do you automatically win?

    • @riffleshuffleandroll
      @riffleshuffleandroll  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Great question! From what I understand, you do not automatically win. You still have to surround the bee. Once you do that, you win!

    Cool stuff. I've played Hive a few times on BGA but still haven't fully gotten my head around it. I really want to get into it more though, if for no other reason than that it looks really cool on the table!

      You are absolutely right! It’s a pretty great game. I cannot believe how many moves I missed while playing with my wife. :)

      @@riffleshuffleandroll that's me every time I play chess... I just don't see the obvious strategic moves and get routinely outplayed!!

      I spent about six months trying to learn Chess. I studied and played and played. I do not have the capacity nor the desire to memorize board states. Plus I’d rather get good at a bunch of games than master one. :)

    Christina's grasshopper placement was illegal, right?

      Probably. She likes to break the rules often =^)

      @lovejunkie02 at 11:42 she placed a piece touching the other players color. When placing pieces you cannot be adjacent/touching the other players pieces.

    What if a white queen bee has 4 white pieces surrounding it and two black. Let’s say the black piece was the last to move in next to the white bee. Who wins? Black??

      as long as the queen bee is surrounded that player loses, It doesn't matter what the colors surrounding her are

    How was the bee trapped if it had two sides together that were free? Looks like the bee could slide out sideways.

  • @Carutsu

    at 14:30 instead of moving the beetle on top, why not move the queen? the hive remains in one piece, no?

    • @dulcecasillas856
      @dulcecasillas856 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The queen bee cant slide out. A piece needs to be able to slide out for it to be able to move
