Hi Rodney, thank you for being the premium go to for us when we are learning new games. Anyways I have a random question for everyone. I only own the base game for now. Would you recommend expansions for the base or just simply get uprising? The 6 player mode does seem interesting since my group is usually at that player count
Very glad you enjoyed! I avoid giving personalized recommendations (what I would prefer may not match with your tastes), but hopefully you end up enjoying whichever title you end up getting!
Hi @Kelferaz. My group owns base game and all expansions as well as Uprising. The Uprising is quite different and not fully compatible with the previous expansions so I can guarantee they will release expansions/addons as they did for the main base. We are fanatics of the dune so we can actually enjoy playing the base version online on Steam :D. If you just started with Dune and have no expansion it will be your personal choice based on: 1. do you enjoy base game and just want more cool stuff (then go for expansions) 2. do you enjoy base but wish it could be played in different way (then go for Uprising and wait for new expansion for it)
@@traconisek Thank you for your insight! I have the game on steam as well so maybe I will just get Uprising for the team component since Dire Wolf would probably implement the base expansions on steam before implementing uprising

really great video, im excited to play uprising me and my friend have been smashing stream og version, my uprising is being delivered and i cant wait !!
at 28:45 you talk about going on an occupied space... does this work if you are the one who occupied it such as after play you now have 2 agents on the same space
Hi Rodney, just one quick question (haven’t read through instructions yet and did not hear it mentioned on video) but once you gain the hook and break down the shield; do you ever loose the hook after bringing worms in? Or does it stay with you for rest of game? Same with shield question.. once broken does it stay broken for entire game? I’ve watched this many times and super excited to play this with friends this weekend! Have a great day!
My most burning question is: which is the best combination of Dune Imperium with Ix or Immortality, or the new Uprising with Ix or Immortality, or some other combination?
I avoid giving personalized recommendations, because what I like, someone else might not - hopefully you get a chance to try and see what might appeal to your tastes!
These videos are so helpful, thank you. Question: In Uprising with Rise of Ix, would a Rival still horde their spice for Tech Tiles (until Conflict Level III), and instead save up their *other* resources to buy their 3rd swordmaster? Or-would they get their 3rd SM no matter the resource type, and *then* start caring about buying Tech?
@@WatchItPlayed Well thanks anyway for the response. I think for my games, and maybe this will help others decide or even challenge this idea, is to have the Rivals horde spice from the get-go and only use their other resources to get their SM. One big reason being that Uprising’s House of Hagal cards can dole out resources more plentifully than before. Due to that one of mine acquired almost all their SM quota on just one turn and was already halfway down the Tleilaxu track (from Immortality of course). Being Rise of Ix diversifies the Rival’s approach and forces the rivals to care a lot about spice and acquiring Tech, I’m going to apply that approach to Uprising. Anyone else please sound off if I’m looking at this the wrong way! And long live the fighters!!
Once earned, do maker hooks stay in your garrison for the rest of the game, or are they returned to the supply after sandworms are called into battle? (And must you then re-earn them again later?)
Great and helpful content as always Rodney! One question from my side: regarding spies, do you need to play a card in order to place your Agent (and recall the spy) on space occupied by opponent Agent or you can do it without playing card as well (with benefits for recalling) thanks in advance and keep up the good work!
I'm not sure if I have the question right, but let me put it this way. If you want to go to a space where you have a spy, you still have to play a card to go there (including if an opponent is there, and you're reclaiming the spy). Hope that helps!
@@WatchItPlayedit does, thanks! I’m completely new to the game and this was only thing that confused me, since on rules it says: A Spy may also be recalled (without the use of a card), for one of two effects: 1) Infiltrate 2) Gather Intelligence. So my understanding was if I already have a spy deployed I don’t need to play a card to do 1). But thanks for clarification, really appreciate it.
@@markozunic497 I believe the reason for the rules saying "A Spy may also be recalled (without the use of a card)", is because it wanted to distinguish itself from the previous paragraph which is about playing cards with the "recall spy" icon on it: "When the Recall Spy icon appears on a card, you may return one of your Spies from an observation post to your supply. (This will usually be a cost to get a powerful effect.)." So, the next paragraph is effectively saying " A Spy may also be recalled (without the use of a card "showing the recall spy icon)". That's my understanding of the intent. I will double check with the publisher, and if I hear that I'm incorrect, I'll reply. If not, you can assume I have the above correct.
I think you are definitely right. It does make sense after additional thinking and reading. It just didn’t “clicked” on me at first so my mind created a space for confusion and ambiguity. I think now I got the whole concept of spies. Once again big thank you Rodney, for your time and effort. Keep doing a great job!
That’s not a detail I cover in this video and haven’t tried personally, so can’t weigh in on. That said, I believe I have that section of the rules on screen at the end if you want to pause and check it out.
Question about the Battle for Arrakeen conflict card : It says for the first place that you can recall two spies to gain one victory point. However, if you have one or more sandworms in the conflict, the rules say that you can pay the cost another time to gain the rewards another time too. The things is, we don’t have 4 spies in our supply. Is there a specific rule for this card? Or can you simply not pay the cost twice with sandworms because there is just 3 spies in our supply?
I do my best to answer all rules questions on the games I cover, but I avoid individual card effects, as that's a level of detail beyond what I can manage across all the videos I do. I'd suggest checking the rules forum for the game on BoardGameGeek or the publishers website. I hope you can find your answer there - have fun playing!
Thanks for the video Rodney! One question, you mentioned at 17:55 that trashed cards go back into the box, just wondering if the other players should get to see the card I trashed?
I know youre not planning on doing a 6 player video, but maybe you know the answer to this: I know the Emperor's team can't gain maker hooks. But can they travel to Sietch Tabr? Does the Fremen influence requirement to go there translate to "Fringe Worlds" influence the way it does for travel to Controversial Technology or Expedition?
As always, great video! Question regarding spies, if I have a spy at a location and place an agent (not a double occupancy), can I decide to leave my spy there and NOT draw a card? Is it optional to recall a spy and draw a card?
Question about leaders abilities. Lady Fenring has the ability to get 2 spice if she has 2 influence with the bene gesserit. Is this just once or every turn she has this influence?
Question here: If I go to "Imperial Privilege" on my first agent turn .. so in this case I have no other agents anywhere else on the board yet, can I still gain the "recall an agent" benefit? Meaning I recall this very agent that I just used back to be able to use it again next turn? ... Also I think you forgot to talk about the special Harkonen leader with the white cube that you put on its leader card
Hi Zain, would you say this part of the video answers your first question? th-cam.com/video/3cwzF63F0ks/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared&t=1100 I didn't really forget to discuss the Harkonen leader, I just don't cover every individual special ability/card effect.
You're exactly right. The intention was to be able to point at the symbol and explain a concept (not the precise rules for that exact spot), but I can also see how that could be misleading.
If you place a agent to a space which allows you to put soldiers into the battle. Can you also place the soldiers you recruited with a card in addition to those recruited from the space?
For the spy eye symbol at 28:28, when you assign an agent to a space being spied on, do they still need to pay any costs on that space or does the spy eye negate space costs?
How is this new expansion supposed to be compatible with Rise of Ix when there is a new Landsraad board which is also covered by the Ix Landsraad board?
If you go here and pause the screen, you can find the provided information on using the previous expansions with this new stand-alone title: th-cam.com/video/3cwzF63F0ks/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared&t=2795
Hi Rodney. Great video. When you want to infiltrate, can you use a card with a spy symbol ? I'm asking because I'm questionning the order of play. First you remove the spy to infiltrate, then you use the card. So the spy is not there anymore to use the spy symbol on the card ??? Maybe I'm searching to far.
Would you mind giving me a time stamp to the specific section of the video you're asking about? I just want to make sure we're talking about the same thing. I've had my nose in some other rule books of late, so I'm going to have to reacquaint myself with the situation you're referring to.
@@yvesgauthier1609Thank you. I think "maybe" you're reading too much into the timing? Does it help if you think of it as all happening at once? You play the card with the correct symbol (either the symbol at the location, or a spy symbol), place your agent at the location with the spy piece, and if the space has an opponent's piece, you take the spy back. That help?
Hi Rodney, I just recently ordered Dune: Imperium the base game. It hasn't arrived yet. I didn't realize that Uprising existed until after I ordered it. In your opinion, should I return Imperium and instead get Uprising? I know it comes down to my own personal opinion but wanted others thoughts. I understand that the original 8 houses that are included in Imperium are not in the Uprising version. But does that matter? Would I be missing out on not having those houses available to use?
Hey, thanks for the interest. I tend to avoid giving personalized recommendations. What I like, someone else might not, so I prefer to just show the games and allow the viewer to decide what seems to suit their taste.
Hey Rodney, Do you see any real benefit to skipping the CHOAM module? It seems like it would be easier to just learn/teach it rather than sort out the CHOAM components every time.
We had a issue regarding swords - There is a card that gives you the option to get swords from it, and the player sent his agent on a sword space -> he wanted to put 4 troops in the conflict, but we didn't allow it. My question is does the sword symbol stack? In that scenario can he put 4 troops or is he limited to 2(+ any eventual on the board)?
Sorry, I'm actually having a bit of trouble understanding the question. I do my best to answer all rules questions on the games I cover, but I tend to avoid individual card effects, as that's a level of detail beyond what I can manage across all the videos I do. I'd suggest checking the rules forum for the game on BoardGameGeek or the publishers website. I hope you can find your answer there - have fun playing!
A card with green and yellow space tags has in its imperium box the swords symbol (to get troops into the conflict) it was used to step on a yellow board space with swords symbol (the player wanted to deploy 4 troops from the garrison)@@WatchItPlayed
Hey, tell me please if i place a spy from card with eye icon, does that mean I have theoretically one more turn for placing agents? And if i place 2 spies, this gives me 2 more turns for agents?

Imma be broke for a while.
Hope you get a chance to give it a spin!
Serious question: what do you use to get your cards to stand up like that? Looks so good!
Serious answer: it takes some rather involved incantations.
at 28:45 you talk about going on an occupied space... does this work if you are the one who occupied it such as after play you now have 2 agents on the same space
@@BMiBudz Nope, thematically you use the spy to spy on opponents, not your own. Hope that helps!

Hmmm, a video re-upload. Now even more spicy! 🖖
Indeed :)
Hi Matthew, neither of these things "auto" reset.
40:41 missed opportunity to say the spice must flow.
Will you add video of Dune Imperium uprising + Rise of IX together?
No, but we have a video for each, so watching them both should help quite a bit (hopefully).
I didn't cover the mixing of the games in my video and that's something I haven't looked into. Sorry I can't help you out there.
They stay there (unless a printed effect would say otherwise).
Masterful instruction
Thank you kindly!
@@markozunic497A pleasure to assist - have a great time playing!
Question : how do you play both uprising and rise of x because the rise of x covers the spy placements on the green space
That’s not a detail I cover in this video and haven’t tried personally, so can’t weigh in on. That said, I believe I have that section of the rules on screen at the end if you want to pause and check it out.
Question about the Battle for Arrakeen conflict card :
It says for the first place that you can recall two spies to gain one victory point.
Yep, that would be public information.
Will you able to do a 6 player game mode short tutorial?
No plans to currently, but thanks for the interest.
Ty for the video.
You're very welcome!
Well done
Thanks!
I haven't looked into the 6 player rules at all (don't have a group that size to try it with yet), so I don't know - sorry.
As always, great video! Question regarding spies, if I have a spy at a location and place an agent (not a double occupancy), can I decide to leave my spy there and NOT draw a card? Is it optional to recall a spy and draw a card?
As long as you're not using the Spy for it's recall effect, you don't have to recall it. Hope that helps!
As long as you're not using the spy for its recall effect, you don't have to recall it (ie. you're not forced to use it's recall effect).
Question about leaders abilities. Lady Fenring has the ability to get 2 spice if she has 2 influence with the bene gesserit. Is this just once or every turn she has this influence?
Just once (unless she drops below it, and then goes back up to 2 influence again).
Hi Zain, would you say this part of the video answers your first question? th-cam.com/video/3cwzF63F0ks/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared&t=1100
I didn't really forget to discuss the Harkonen leader, I just don't cover every individual special ability/card effect.
Dear sir I wonder if you break the shield war in the battle in this round ,will the shield wall come back from the other turn?
It doesn't automatically come back.
At 23:46 it says 4 spice or maker hook. Doesnthat mean you dont need to have a maker hook and can simply trade 4 spice for it?
You're exactly right. The intention was to be able to point at the symbol and explain a concept (not the precise rules for that exact spot), but I can also see how that could be misleading.
Can you participate fully in the combat process if you only bring sandworms, rather than troops, to the conflict?
Yep!
If you place a agent to a space which allows you to put soldiers into the battle. Can you also place the soldiers you recruited with a card in addition to those recruited from the space?
@@Fangoros Yep!
Do you have a video for 6player?
Also, 2 questions: are the shield wall and maker hooks permanent or do they only last for one round?
No video for 6 player. The shield wall and maker hooks remain as is, unless an effect says otherwise.
For the spy eye symbol at 28:28, when you assign an agent to a space being spied on, do they still need to pay any costs on that space or does the spy eye negate space costs?
You still have to pay any related costs as usual.
@@WatchItPlayed gotcha. Thanks a million!

That help?
Thanks. Yes it help.
Oh damn it all. Wallet old friend, I hope you didn't recover because...
Thanks for checking out the video either way!
Brilliant
Glad you enjoyed Steve!
If the shield wall is broken by a player, does it go back the following round? Or once it is broken is it gone from the game for good?
I don't want to say it is gone for good, as I haven't read every card effect, but there is no core rule that automatically restores it.
Its december and this game is STILL not available in 🇨🇦 Canada! When will it be available?
I haven’t heard. Hopefully soon?
Hey Rodney,
Do you see any real benefit to skipping the CHOAM module? It seems like it would be easier to just learn/teach it rather than sort out the CHOAM components every time.
It might be worth trying your first game without it, and trying a game with it so you can assess if it suits your group well.
Nope, that's still only 2 troops from the garrison. @@filipdzhakerski7744
Hey, tell me please if i place a spy from card with eye icon, does that mean I have theoretically one more turn for placing agents? And if i place 2 spies, this gives me 2 more turns for agents?
