i love you guys' reviews - the structure you use just helps me feel that it addresses the different concerns i have when i shop. You brought up the same highs and lows that i found for myself in my plays, which is why i trust you guys for games i haven't played. Thank you!
it's these two gems of human beings and the Brother's Murph for me - only two board game channels I'll watch; both so great and add witty/silly humor, which I am here for!
I bought the original game because of your recommendation and it was one of the best things I did. I love this game, it hits all the spots for me. Thanks guys!
One of my absolute favorite gaming review channels on youtube. Cheers fellas, great review! (Haven't even watched it yet, but I know it'll be good lol)
I'm glad you went over the things you did or didn't like about this game. I tried out Dune Imperium and I love its streamlined gameplay. Looking at Uprising, I find myself having mixed feelings about how much more there is to do when it comes to spies, sandworms, etc. For me, the 5 point plays is probably the biggest deal-breaker. I'm glad you pointed out how this game isn't for some people (like me!) and that makes me feel better when everyone says "Just get uprising".
I never played the original since I went the way of Arnak (no regrets there, love that game). I just ordered Uprisings based off all the positive feedback I’ve heard including your video! Thanks for the amazing content, you’re one of my favorite channels to follow.
Thanks for the review, guys. This is the first review I see explaining (repeatedly) that this is in a different difficulty category than the previous iteration. I have a hard time believing that.
It is a bump up in the difficulty. The spies, the worms, the conflict cards, the contacts, the deck building and culling isa way more impactful, the fact that you can go again to high consul and the sword master is cheaper when the first one is taken. That’s all boils to a more complex game where the more experienced players will destroy the new. Where the old one you could do well as a newbie. Give it a go and see for yourself. ☺️
Cool review thx. You didn’t mention that Rise of Ix and Immortality expansion work perfectly with Uprising. As I understand it no other expansions are planned.
Great review! I have played Uprising quite a lot of times already, and I think that worms are amazing, but the 4-5 VP combat potential does not happen very often in an experimented table. Worms are quite expensive and “obvious” so you can prepare for them easily. I think that you get the most value out of them for 2nd places most of the time.
Hello from Russia! i really love your chanel, your videos, your humour! my tastes are very similar to yours, i'm also a big fan of Dune Imperium. now i'm thinking about buying the Uprising version and you have helped me to make a decision. No doubt i'll take it :) Good luck to you lads and for your chanel as well!
To me the fact of winning with the worms and getting twice the resources breaks somehow the game. Or at least it forces the player to use them as a preferred tactic beause of the cost of opportunity. Do you agree? Do you prefer Uprising or the original? Do you think that the first expansion is mandatory or the base game is enough?
Can you treat the extra rules as an "Expansion"? By that I mean, is it possible to play the base dune imperium with the components in the box, or would I be missing on a lot?
You can play without the place-bonus tiles, which are actually super easy to include, so it would be a weird choice. Regarding the board, the resources and requirements have changed for some, so it would be the "same". This is a valid new base, so perhaps yours is not a goal worth pursuing.
I preordered from Manohobis too and was dissapointed that game came without promo cards which Dire Wolf advertised for preorders. I hope Dire Wolf likes your review and sends you promo cards
I love D:I with Rise of Ix and play it more then any other game (we even have a weekly group dedicated to it). But I am not sure if I will pull the trigger on this when there are so many other games I am looking at (Root, Brass, ect.).
Yea, i will pass. Specialy everybody say that oryginal with Ix is better than this. I have soo many new games to buy in my mind that i cant buy something slightly different.
Amazing review as always! I guess you will be the reason i buy Dune Imperium, although I still have games not played enough already. Too much mentions of that game from you 😅
Totally Agree, the only thing i dont like is the worms, its too powerfull. I want a game that you can win with different strategies, and now if you dont have a worm you can't win (you can but its gonna be hard)
I haven’t at all found this to be the case. Worms are powerful but if everyone knows they’re coming they can be countered. I almost never go for worms (just because they’re going to be highly contested) and I still win at least as much than my other opponents.
@@BoardGameHangover No immortality? I just love the game with rise of ix and immortality, the deck building is SO much better and you finally have a lot of ways to win the game. I really love it. I will have to try uprising to see by myself :)
Really hard for me to say that this game is a deckbuilding. Sure it has elements of deckbuilding, but the game goes so fast, that your deckbuilding is a bit chaotic and not that deep. As the game could end on turn 6 or 7, the deckbuilding aspect is taking a big punch in the face, even with more draw / destroy card possibilities, the pacing of the game and the only 2 (then later one, maybe, 3) workers at your disposal, it feels like the pacing of this game, kills 50% of the deckbuilding part it as. A bit like the snake biting is own tail... Second things i'm not sure about, are the worms... Doubling the reward, is potentially a game killer. Making some game to end turn 6 or 7 with like 4, 5 or even 6, 7 points difference between the 1st place and the 2nd/3rd place... Which i'm not sure all people at the table will enjoy when it happen' I like the tension (and chaos) from the 1st game (with rise of ix) better. The endgame scoring there were much tighter i.m.o Losing all the fight for alliance moving from player to player is also a negative for me, i loved that chaos from the original ! yet, this new version is fun to play but, with those "cons" (for me) listed above, i'm not sure it will replace the original + ix for me I feel like i'm much more keen to remember those games where i was at 10 and my opponants at 9 and 8, than the one at 9 reached 10 and the one at 8 reached 11 with his last round, getting 3 points from nowhere on his end of game intrigue cards and last turn ! Those loss i will always remember more than a win or a lose from a sandworm making +4 points for an endgame scoring of 10/6/5/4.... Just my feeling and 2 cents over this Uprising which got great qualities, but still work to be the perfect one ! (i trully believe the answer is somewhere between those two game + a better way to improve / accentuate the deckbuilding aspect) Cheers from belgium
Of course, after watching your review, I had to go online and purchase this game. My goal for this year was to keep playing the games we have and not to buy new ones. You guys are bad for my wallet.😂 Thanks for your reviews. They are always just a little bit too helpful. 😂
the games are similar. I would buy one or the other The complexity is something you can just overcome why release the same game with upgrades after just after 4 years !? Scummy sales tactics and fear of missing out applied here
Damn the thumbnail on this video is rough, dude look demented. Good review though, Uprising is a real improvement over the base game, very tight with better options and imo does not need the expansions.
After less than 2min I stopped watching. I can enjoy a joke as well as the next guy, but you're trying way too hard with juvenile humour aimed at 13yr old boys. Just... review the game and drop the "comedy" act.

it is true, much more possibilities and strategic options, try yourself and come back with your opinion ;)

Good point! Both expansions indeed work with Uprising
dune bloodlines expansion has been announced for 2025

Haven't received my promo cards either. I have ordered game in my local shop. Shame it's not added for each game copy.

The best game just got even better!!!
So is it possible to add both expensions from first edition to the Uprising version? I didn't get this...
Yes it is. We just have not tried it.
Amazing review as always!

It's an amazing game! What games you still have wrapped up? :D
Was the "glass of water" a Rango reference?
Good video lads, not sure if you do but would be keen to watch a 6 player game play through.

Janis said he would prefer to play original Dune Imperium with Ix, but what about Dune Imperium Uprising with Ix?
How do you rate it compared to original dune with expansions?
JG likes the original with Rise of Ix and the epic variant a bit better, JT likes this one better. But it's a close call
@@BoardGameHangover No immortality? I just love the game with rise of ix and immortality, the deck building is SO much better and you finally have a lot of ways to win the game. I really love it. I will have to try uprising to see by myself :)

So each of has can have one at home. As we really like it and play with pur friends and wives ;)
