I always tell people to think of it like a hair salon. A walk in hair salon can do a simple, popular hair cut. But an appointment only hair salon can do more unique colors and cuts.

That’s what I’ve been thinking about.
I definitely want 1 or 2, I don’t want to get wrapped up in having (for myself) too many.
I really want to know what I want and that it’s great quality, something I’ll never regret.

There's a shop near me that does "Tiny Tattoo Tuesday" where you can get a one color tattoo the size of a quarter for $25. They also have days when they do $10 piercings.

I made an appointment at a shop once, and I told him my idea and he said "see ya then". I travelled two hours, and when I went in, he told me he couldn't do it that day because he'd have to draw it. I ended up going to a walk in shop, and they did it right then and there.

Thank-you! Vey much you have given me sound and informative information that I can put to immediate use! Now I waited until I reached an age where I personally feel my tattoos will not fade out and hopefully they will look great on me for I have lots of money and time to have it done right! So as you can tell what you have shared will make all the difference in the world for me, and sense appointments fits my need and loyalty I will be looking for that one artist that will be dining my work long term!!!

Just got my first walk-in tattoo done a month ago. First time not setting up an appointment. However, I did do half an hour of research on the artist before I came in. It was great. I woke up on my day off, had an idea, had the money to blow, and just went for it. Took myself out to dinner beforehand. Was such a fun day. I didn't even tell anyone. I recommend everyone get at least one spontaneous tattoo.
Definitely into both walk-ins and appointments but you've brought up some really valid points for each. As always thank you for sharing!!

I totally love your hair straight! I ended up going in for a walk in tattoo while on vacation visiting my aunt a few months back. The artist works in a shop that is both walk in and appointment based, and was able to take me for something the next day (so I kinda walked in and made an appointment more then walking in and getting tattooed right away), but her work totally changed me and now every time I'm visiting family, I also make an appointment to get tattooed!

I have four small tattoos, all from walk-in shops. I’ve recently found an artist I love and tomorrow I’m going in for a consultation for a really big piece! I’m excited!
I could not for the life of me find an artist in my area that did areola/nipple tattoos that had already done some before me when I was looking at appointment only shops but I went to a tattoo shop that was walk in (I had gotten tattoos done there before) and I had found an artist that had done a handful of the hearts I was looking to get 😍❤️. I was so happy it was insane. I love this series you do ! Completely obsessed.

a place by me does Friday the 13th tattoos when ever that date comes around and its 13$ for the tattoo with a 7$ tip so its 20$ total, but they have only like 10-15 set flash tattoos to pick from and you cant change size or color.

So my three tattoos, (a palm tree on an island, a huge jellyfish, and a large stag; all on my thighs) were done by an apprentice who's not tattooing anymore. Bummer, right? So you thought. Two weeks ago I got my nipples pierced and the guy who pierced me asked about them and why they were so healed and unfinished still and said "Hit me up and we can work something out" aaaahhhhhhh holy crap. So I'm getting my tattoos fixed!

Just a little word of advice, not trying to be rude or anything! But I work in a piercing/tattoo shop and were very big into the idea of "never let a tattoo artist pierce you, never let a piercer tattoo you" simply because it takes SO much time(3 years minimum) to learn one of these trades, and ideally they should always be working to evolve and better their trade. So if someone if focusing on learning multiple trades, their work is probably gonna suffer. Just a piece of advice from a random girl! Hope everything works out.

So the tattoo shop that I go to is a walk-in shop, but their work is amazing. I am currently working on a flower half-sleeve, and the work is amazing. My artist, in particular, created the tattoos himself. He charges $100 per hour, and I can sit for 3-3 1/2 hours, which amazed me!
I don't think I could ever get a tattoo, I'm way to indecisive and change my mind all the time haha

This is what i worry about too. I really like the idea of having a beautiful tattoo, but i'm worried that i'd change my mind and end up regretting it (even if i love it now)
she's mentioned this before...like instead of getting your fav band logo on your bod, she would get a meaningful song lyric from that band. It's all in your perspective. If i had the money, I would already be rocking 3 tatts and 3 more piercings. but ive been thinking about these for like 2 years now. seriously think about designs for atleast a year if you know youre indecisive. if you still love it after a year then go for it. and hey, if you do hate it down the road, you can always cover it up or laser it off
That's why it took me until I was 33 to get my first! Even after I got the first design locked down I sat with the idea another 6 months before I committed. Now I feel a lot more impulsive although I kinda 'feel' the difference between an idea that will stick and one that I might not be so enthusiastic for a little way down the road.

Great video! Loved it. I am the type of person who values Loyalty over all. And I found this tattoo shop which is a walk in type of place, and I love it. I always schedule appointments for my tatts. and every tattoo I've gotten has been done by different artists (all of whom had great portfolios) but all done at the same shop!

All of my tattoos have been done by appointment only. Personally I find that having to pay a deposit and mark a day on my calendar really solidifies the decision. I think walk in shops are great for all the reasons you mentioned but I would say they are probably the most prolific creators of tattoos people regret getting.

I am strictly appt only now! I have one artist that I love and go to for everything. I used to go to walk in shops when younger, get something small and random, but honestly those are all getting covered up now with large tattoos! I have had 3 cover ups so far and have a few more to go. I definitely enjoy planning, taking my time and using one artist I trust!
I probably would be someone who would be interested in both kinds. I am currently having my first tattoo done by appointment on my birthday, and I am so excited!

woot woot another tattooed cosmetologist... there are not many here they always like me to cover mine but it doesnt work
mine are all appointment only i love my artist he does beautiful work... he covered up a disaster i got at 18 that caused me to be leary of getting tattoos
took me 5 years i think to commit to my first (and only so far) tattoo and i got it done at a walk in shop (: the guy who did my tattoo was so nice and answered all my questions which made my experience fantastic haha you could tell he really enjoyed what he does for a living. i got mickey mouse on my ankle haha

I had the same thought process - I got my mother's handwriting on my ribs yesterday, and I did not want to "bother" my tattoo artist who is doing my large scale custom artwork with that :DD So I just went to a walk in shop and got it done, easy breezy.
