I'm sure anyone with tattoos has heard the old question "What if you get a tattoo of something you regret?" In getting this question all the time I have come up with the reply "Don't get a tattoo of something regrettable." Our beliefs alter a lot more than we think and I think Qcknd is right, ask yourself if you think you want to be the spokesperson for an opinion you have at any day or time.
It's weird how people even ask you such a question and I've never been asked that. Like ever, no one ever asks if I'll ever regret my tattoos or gauges.
I actually do have a visible star wars tattoo and luckily I've never gotten any rude comments on it 😁

Omg totally agree with your thoughts on people reading your tattoos. I have a quote on my wrist(I got it for myself to get through a shitty time) and I swear EVERYONE asks "what's it say? Ohh why that?" 🙄

I'm covered in tattoos and people constantly ask to see them, especially women. If you do things that draw attention to your body, you are going to get attention, whether that is the reason you did it or not. Human beings are social creatures, just because you suffer from mental illnesses that make you afraid of socialization, that doesn't make other peoples attention wrong.
HellurMeg ughhhhh i cant stand it. i dont really feel regret over my script tattoo but i wish i had put it in a different spot. ive had both men and women grab my shirt without warning and try to pull it down to read. Its a horrible feeling especially when im at work and I cant just beat the crap out of them.

"I'm not always in the mood to defend my tattoos" YESSS I completely agree. People always feel so entitled to question my tattoo choices, and judge the ~validity~ of them. 😒😒😒😒
I guess women are just easier to ask. No one ever asks me about my tattoos or my gauges. Only question I ever get is "Did it hurt?", other than that people just compliment them and that's about it.
I'm not a very confrontational person nor do I like to make my opinions known, unless someone asks, even then. It'd make me uncomfortable and like I'm opening myself up for confrontation if I got it tatted. Mine are more aesthetic and much deeper meaning rather than something I'm feeling in the now, I'm a vegan too and have varying opinions within SJ, and it's not something I want on display, but I'm all for it if someone is comfortable enough to get something they strongly believe on them, major props.

The main reason why I love and continue watching your videos: you hit these messages so hard but so delicately, I have been contemplating a vegan tattoo among other things I feel passionate about and this video with your thoughts and ideas have helped me SO MUCH to truly understand what I can do about things I feel strong about, but in a way that it wont affect others or myself negatively. I will ALWAYS watch your videos, your mind is beautiful

I just wanted to address what you said about people commenting on the fact that your tattoos were trash because they don't have a specific meaning behind them. I've had a problem with this as well. To me, I think it's hard for some people to understand that we are expressing ourselves by getting tattoos. I got sick of people asking me what my tattoos mean ( people hated the fact that I have a skull on my arm)... So now when people ask me what my tattoos mean I just reply with "Absolutely nothing". Why do people wear the clothes they wear or have a certain haircut? It's about expression and feeling great in your own skin. I get extremely off out by people who bash people that aren't just like them or share the same opinions as their own. #movingon!! I really dig you tattoos I think their beautiful (I'm a black and grey girl myself) but when I see you I see a woman who knows who she is and who is confident in herself!!

I understand why you won't get certain tattoos like anything that's vegan related.. I proudly sport my vegan tattoo and sometimes wear my compassion shirts, but I do that not because I'm some poster child...cause I'm so flawed and dgaf about negative judgment. I'm 46 and old as fuck so at my old age, I really have no fucks left to give lol.

for me being vegan is something I don't even tell people. I don't even call myself vegan because I don't agree with a lot of vegans and any time I have voiced certain opinions that I have to other vegans I have been told I am not vegan enough and I am done with that. I don't want to be associated with those people it is just me

i totally understand the idea of wanting it for yourself and not wanting to have to be on display and talk to strangers about your tattoos just because you have them. your discussions about social justice tattoos and how it could bring out people's ire toward you are things i have considered in the past as well. but i really liked the nuance you offered to the concept. lots to think about.
I feel you about opening up a conversation once a tattoo is on your body- and how just because it's there you don't always want to talk about it. I don't wear tank tops to parties because a tattoo on my upper arm is a memorial tattoo for a friend who passed, and when I'm out I don't want people I'm not close to grabbing my arm and asking "what does it mean??" and divulge to them about something so close to my heart. I feel u!!

My brother is gay and has the word equality on his wrist. He got it because he wants equal rights for himself obviously but whenever someone asks about it he says everyone should be treated equally no matter what and goes on his merry way. No ones ever argued with him on that one.

I wanted bees too! And want my first tattoo to be a bee, they're one of the first animals that caused my appreciation for nature (I used to buried dead ones I found, and carry tired ones on my way home from school)
**Also, something that might help you be less scared of bees is that they only have one sting, if they sting you and you, in the panic of it all, pull away and pull the sting with you it'll die (as they lose their insides along with it), therefore it's not in their interest to sting you unless you pose a real threat to the entire colony for example.**

I love sharks so much. I have my left thigh dedicated to sharks, giraffes have the right thigh. While these tattoos appear as just a few of the same animal on my thighs, to me they are reminds that these animals are amazing and deserve to be remembered and saved.

I love your shark tattoo :) When I first saw it(after being jarred because I had just started a shark tat on my own ribs), at first I thought the ribbons were blood and I thought 'Oh no! Another bloody murder shark!', but then I realized they were ribbons and thought 'aww!'. Then I felt lame for not having a higher message with my own shark. I just gave mine a yoga mat, because it makes me laugh to visualize a shark doing yoga, and I wanted to go against the usual 'scary hungry' killer shark tattoos that are out there. The burning bra is awesome too ;)

When you explained your shark tattoo it reminded me of a documentary I watched about declawing cats, before I watched the documentary I didn't know about the issue but now I feel very strongly about it. If you haven't seen it I think you should try and watch it, it's very interesting and I think you'll like it despite it being slightly upsetting. Oh and thanks for another great video! :)

Bees have always been my favorite, my outfits are always adorned with bees. 😍 I don't know but I find them beautiful and I'm definitely save the bees and sharks. Ugh I absolutely love those tattoos and often thought about getting them.

The only tattoo I ended up regretting was one I got that represented something I felt strongly about. A few years pass and I didn't feel the same way anymore - in numerous different ways. I ended up getting it covered. Now it's a kitty in a space suit riding a rocket ship XD
This, of course, as you said, doesn't mean that none of my other tattoos mean anything to me. All of them do for one reason or another.

I'm curious as to if anyone ever just grabs you to look at your tattoo. like complete strangers grabbing your arm. its one thing for people I know, but I HATE it when strangers touch me. I have a very meaningful sun tattoo on my forearm and people just love to grab my arm and ask me about it. just ask me, don't touch me, I might punch you due to my instincts to protect my self.

I totally get not wanting a vegan tattoo but rational vegans don't strive for perfection! It IS impossible. It should just be about striving for doing as little harm as possible while living your life. I feel you though. there are so many times when I want the conversation to be about something OTHER than what I choose to not eat or wear. People WILL pick fights. It's true.

I have a "social justice" tattoo and people ask me about it all the time. It's a candy heart that says "riots not diets" on it, and it's right on my bicep. I love it so much.
