    AMG lessons are great science based instruction - explaining and showing what to do and not do.
    I've improved from mid to low handicapper in 2 years by identifying swing faults using AMG. I think the final piece for me has been learning to swing free and trusting feels. If muscle tension levels of pros vs ams could be measured then it would be eye opening.- it's really the glue for me that affects mechanics and tempo.
    Keep up the good work...

    Pressure on the face coming down with the finger? That forearm rotation, are you guys able to show that on the gears?
    Turning it down?
    I still have issues with this concept?
    Am I not changing the loft? To low hits?

  • @leerogers9192
    @leerogers9192 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    I tried practicing with what I thought was a cupped wrist today. I always have second thoughts when I find something that seemed to square the face on a certain day. When I return to it it’s nowhere like I practiced. But I was using a wedge and taking it back with a slightly cupped wrist and down and thru with rotation was like finding nirvana, today. Who knows what it’ll be tomorrow.

    Fantastic Video!! So many pearls of wisdom. So on the downswing are you supposed to bow your left wrist 14:43? Have you found that the pros do that on GEARS? Thanks guys! Another great video

    • @AthleticMotionGolf
      @AthleticMotionGolf  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It doesn't have to be bowed, but it's a great idea to not have it cupped. Flat works pretty good for most golfers. A lot depends on the ball flight you want.

  • @randymahony8157

    Have you done a video on the arms and elbows after impact? I have heard the straighter the arms and closer the elbows the lower the handicap.

    • @AthleticMotionGolf
      @AthleticMotionGolf  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      We have not, Randy. You're typically not going to see the arms very spread apart but I wouldn't say they need to be straight. That would exclude a lot of great players.

    So are you suggesting manipulating the sweet spot on the early downswing? I always thought a good grip would take care of that???

    • @AthleticMotionGolf
      @AthleticMotionGolf  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes. The sweet spot has to be turned down early, something most golfers just don't do - regardless of grip.

  • @djp3525

    Thanks again fellas. Great video.
    Question: Could you speak to David Duval’s feel of “releasing” the club at the top of the backswing and keeping the club head “above the plane”? Is this something that you see the pros do on gears? Is there something else he’s doing that he’s not explaining? Thanks.

    • @mikewalker1885

    • @djp3525
      @djp3525 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Eddie sixsix thanks. I watched several of his videos. He’s got some great concepts. I came to the conclusion that the best of both worlds would be watch AMG to see how to move your body/back swing and Mike Malaska to see how to move your hands.

    • @bertpainter8385
      @bertpainter8385 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Interesting reply to that scenario. I've been trying for a while now to get my lead arm to stay straight on the follow through after impact. I've always been an extend my arms at impact kind of guy, especially in baseball, but after impact my arms fold up. Tbh, trying to force extension after impact actual hurts my body all over even in slow motion. My swing isn't perfect, but on camera I like how I use my body at impact. I have back and knee issues so maybe that's why full extension afterward just don't feel good past a foot after impact. IDK. Been thinking of signing up for the 3 month deal to get some feed back. But I'm trying to understand more of the details you guys show, especially with using the gears images before I do so. That' gears thing is very detailed, but somewhat confusing at times. The more I watch your gears videos the more I'm getting the explanations. Although, my swing basics seem to be OK for my body structure, I see I'm not at all where I should be.
      I should mention keeping my lead arm straight during the back swing also hurts past parallel to the ground. Anywhere past parallel during the back swing is a definite strain and I don't feel relax when I try to keep that arm straight past that point, which is messing with my swing and also at contact. But I keep trying to work on it. I wonder though if that's smart. Maybe my body just can't move that way anymore at 65 from having back and knee issues. Maybe once I understand more I'll sign up.

    Great video. My current instructor was the first I've had that explained that controlling the club face starts from the top. I'd always just concentrated on getting the shaft into those "correct" positions on the way down, but trying to square the face with what I now know is too little time.

  • @golfinatty1
    @golfinatty1 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    No matter who you look at this is the most telling problem that will wreck a player’s chances of hitting consistency center face strikes which the tour players seem to own!
    I have improved my strikes by drilling every round or practice with an exaggerated inside out with a super strong grip and hit 10-20 balls swinging out and supinate your front arm and you will not believe how powerful that drill creates with your irons!
    This is the the most important fix in golf IMHO! I must give credit to GG SWINGS!

    There is nothing to be gained by twisting the forearms or the shoulder joint o the way back. One can get the the club face to the top without any rotation of the upper arm (brachium). The rotation occurs only as you get into the hitting zone.

    Okey, so when you take the grip and put the club on the ground after and it looks CLOSED, you say "don't change your grip, change,just twist the forearma" but too me it looks like you twist your shoulders/spine. Would be a different look if it was just the forearms that are changing, so wich one is, the shoulders/spine or the forearms, or just a blend of all of them, i feel this is crucial because you will end up in a more CLOSED/OPEN stance depending on how you do it?

    What do you guys think of the old Faldo "pre-set" drill? At 7:50 it looks a lot like where you are with the hands and the swing guide. Set the wrists then rotate to the top.

    Do you guys agree that a pull hook is easier to fix than a push slice, and that the pull hook is a better problem to have because it’s teaching and making you learn better patterns ?

    • @AthleticMotionGolf
      @AthleticMotionGolf  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not sure I understand the reasoning behind that one, Teddy. Both are pretty nasty misses, guess I'm not seeing any advantage of one over the other pattern-wise.

  • @MarkSmith-lz5rk
    @MarkSmith-lz5rk 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I dont know why this fault is so prevalent for me, in about a 2 snd there's always always always periods of time where I start hitting the ball like crap, and everytime I look on video, yep, club sucked in inside, lift, across the line then from there it's a coin flip what happens...i more than understand the concept but it just keeps coming back unless I consciously think about it. I can't seem to burn it in...ive golfed long enough that I csn "get by" using my hands but its not consistent at all

    Agree with all your set up comments,most people my age were taught a ridiculously weak top hand thumb straight down at 12 oclock. But one thing you didnt mention (hardly anybody does) is that most people being right eye dominant look at the top of the ball with their right eye (cos theyre trying to hit it with the clubhead) causing the classic slicers set up. A lot of all time golfing greats appear to be left eye dominant and have a great set up eg Jack Nick
