    An interesting (to me) detail I caught was that every time another tram goes by, both drivers will very deliberately turn on their cab interior light so their colleague can see them wave. This repeats throughout the video.
    Why is that interesting?
    Well-- think about how LITERALLY thankless a tram driver's job is, isolated in their cab and not talking to the passengers (or vice versa) that they carefully serve... but yet the comradery that the ranks of drivers have is so deep that they feel compelled to honor each other with a wave-- even making sure that wave is seen by turning on a light. It's a desire to be SEEN, literally, by those who know firsthand the work, effort and pride they have in the job they do.
    I think that's kind of a sweet way of thinking about what kind of organization fosters such a sense of professionalism and fellowship that a simple gesture of friendship to each other is part of the culture... I'm never going to be a tram driver in the Netherlands.... but I can appreciate the positivity that comes from workers knowing that they are SEEN by their coworkers. It's a team concept that's especially important in those jobs where the "thanks" are, for whatever reason, "less."
    It is fulfilling to have one's service acknowledged.

      I drove buses in Toronto for 24 years in all kinds of weather and it is a common curtesy to wave to other operators on the same route.we also did it when driving on the highway and crossing paths with large trucks.

    It seems weird to me that two trams are so close with eachother on the tracks. Is there any central operation center to coordinate the gap between them? Or is it a regular thing in Netherlands to have trams following each other like buses?
    I've never seen anything like that in France.

      Bonjour! Only the tunnel part has signals I have to follow. If I don't follow the signals, 'the system' automatically stops my tram and I then have some explanation to do with my manager..
      For all other stops, there has to be 1 meter in between your tram and the one in front of you. Also, the trams are equipped with an automatic anti-collision system.

    What is that sound at 13:03? Is that a chime or the tram’s horn?

    • @RobbertReports
      @RobbertReports  หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's an electronic chime, I also have a loud (electronic) horn available if necessary. This is only to let people know I'm here and I'm moving.

    Just curious, at one of the video, it said END of LINE but the tram just keep on going, what excatley did they mean by end of line?

      As in the last stop, all passengers have to get off the tram. Sometimes there's a loop to go in the other direction to return. Sorry, I'm not native English so I'm just improvising...

    For driving a tram, the camera angle was fine. From a tourists view it could have been placed differently but, as it was dark out, that did not matter. 🦘🦘🦘
