"temporary wife" is perfect, the word "temporary" is excellent at relieving the "wife" word.
The man always pays. In the US when I was married I paid for all expenses... housing, cars, food, utilities. My wife worked but didn't have the income I had so that's just the way it was.
She paid for her clothes, cosmetics etc... Why would it be any different with a GF overseas?
Considering how much cheaper it is in SEA, I think it would be fine to give a woman an allowance, particularly when many of them work to send money to family to help them out.
If they stop working to be with you they cannot send money home.
As a Thai girl said to me one day Love does not pay the bills. When I was married I in the UK I had 4 jobs so my wife did not have to work she could stay home and look after the kids. I had no problem with that.

he has failed to understand her needs....that eventually living the life of an expat wife doing nothing gets boring....i recall at 33 i couldn't keep still....even at 50 i couldn't keep still......and your lovely young active wife sir?
Good discussion. I've dated women here who worked 70-80 hours per week for peanuts and were exhausted when I saw them, so that didn't work. Agree, relationships always cost. In the west your life can be ruined by a divorce. Here worst case scenario losing a house, only 6 months salary in the west. Keep your money in the west and never invest more than you can comfortably walk away from.
It sounds so easy yet many people fall under the Bus here in Thailand. I should write a rule book. Thanks for your comment.

Despite all the bad publicity about the girls in Pattaya you can find some nice girls. I dated a couple of nice girls, a language teacher very nice to be with but we wanted different things so we parted, I have also dated not so nice but quickly moved them on. Good luck finding the nice ones they are there but need finding, not in the go go bars ( worst location ) sorry Soi 6 worst location but 1st place for experiences.
Sow your oats get it out of your system then find the girl your hoping to settle down with, the more stunning the bigger the cost.

Also go to Pattaya run amuck in the bars, enjoy yourself but don't expect to find the right one in a bar. That being said there are some keepers in the bars just takes awhile to find them, but you'll have a lot of fun looking for them!! 5555!!
You could have a beautiful gf with a centerfold body living in a nice 2BR house or condo, but if in one of the bedrooms she had 2 teenage boys that played video games all day, ate pizza, and had cheese puff stained fingers and disrespected you openly, it would not be worth a penny .
So true it could happen here in Thailand but I had that in the UK with a girl I lived with her son hated me being there in place of his dad.
It depends. If she's a pay for play girl, she'll never be anything else.
I agree some like the money more than a relationship but they all have a shelf life.
It is normal, I give my wife 30,000 THB per month for food and house expense. Don't worry for doing good, it is much better to have partner taking care when you get sick.

Million Dollar question. I know guys who pay nothing and I know guys who pay 45,000 per month. So negotiation is the key, Talk about this to your gf. Be realistic about what you can afford. It sounds crazy I know but this is Thailand.

interesting subject, living alone can be good as you have the freedom, but can get lonely, i am planning moving back to pattaya, apply for my retirement visa, considering either living in the dark side or jomtien, i will be starting from scratch & starting my 2nd life
Starting your 2nd life Don't be afraid to start over. This time you're not starting from scratch, you're starting from experience. Pattaya is a good starting place best wishes to you.

Yes presented, doesn't matter where you are those on a higher income always provide more, an Australian wage per day can easily equal a fortnight or a monthly salary in Thailand, I have no qualms in helping support my partner and her child, call it a wage call it house keeping call it what ever you fancy

My now wife was supporting her parents, of course I gave her money when we went on vacation. Her family is not going to be happy with you if they have to go without every time you want to take a trip.
That's the one big thing I like about the Thai Lifestyle its all about the Family its something us westerners have forgotten over the years. family values here are the best. Hope Western ways don't spoil Thailand.

It was a good pension thanks but it all went wrong, we had planned to both Work hard for 2 years after the round the World trip to replace the money and build our house in France but getting a Divorce put an end to that. She decided she wanted to move back to the UK live in the same Flat do the same job as before working in a coffee shop. I asked we could live any where in the World and you choose UK she said yes. she told me this on Boxing day I had given the Flat up Give her all her belongings and Landed in Thailand New Years eve. Never looked back.

@@youwatchme0808 Not at all it is always better to be with someone, we did have some great moments getting married in Fiji was a thing I will never forget so romantic and wonderful but reading various books about travelling around the world it does test your relationship it did and we parted because of different needs. She was 27 years younger than me and different views in life.
The only extra costs were food and drink hotels and transport I would have had to pay anyway. I don’t feel bitter about it it is a lesson learnt.

Get your self an educated Thai woman with a decent job a good salary and works a 5 day week.....there are plenty around....
I did not retire to be with someone who works 5 days a week I retired to enjoy life and travel living with a Thai girl that works Been there done that did not enjoy that. Education does not make a person better or worse than anyone else. My wife is happy to be retired also and she enjoys the holidays and our life together.
But we are all different.
Thats fine for you and my experience over there women with little work future would jump at the chance to sit home and get paid to do it, or in a more polite way to put it have house keeping money with out the need to go to work, i dont think thai women are lazy and you have already seen she needs access to something out side the home to stimulate her, my point was and for me i want her to have an outside interest and independence where she doesn't need to reply on me yet is free the weeknd to go do things, now this is not me being greedy and not wanting to "pay up" but i worked all my life and supported a wife during her spells at home taking care of kids etc, unfortunate the women who get treated like your wife over there it gets around then it becomes a norm, meaning that every farang that wants to hook up there is facing the delima that a salary is in order and mind you some of these women think they can keep on working as well.....anyway i normally only date educated women there who have appreciated there there independence yet you can believe they dont put there hands in there pocket when there out with me...its still very much a one way street....but i dont mind ive avoided a lot of issues like sick buffalos etc.... @@RetiredandLivingthedream

I’ve never understood why a man pays to raise someone else’s child or children. If a Thai housewife is with you on a salary, then it’s only a matter of time that she will leave you for a bigger salary.
I could say the same about living in the UK, following divorces I was dating other girls who had kids its part of being together should I say I want to be with you not your kids. When i divorced my wife and my ex dated another man and he moved in with my ex then he took over taking care of my kids even though I paid maintenance for the kids. If a Thai girl is happy with the person she is with why would she keep looking, the next sponsor might be far worse than the man she left. I would disagree but if the Thai lady is not happy then yes she will look elsewhere as you would if you were not happy with your girlfriend
As you get older you will find most lady's anywhere in the World will have kids.
Keep on justifying your life mate.
