P-51D MUSTANG screaming low & loud | Hangar10 Fly-In 2018

- This TF51/P51 is owned and operated by Hangar10, based at Usedom/Heringsdorf Airport. Footage is from two days at the Hangar10 Fly-In 2018. Aircraft was flown by Rob Davis and Klaus Plasa. Unfortunately, there was quite strong wind.

Probably the best single engined fighter the Allies had. Long range, speed and roll just pips the spitfire in my view.

Erstaunlich, Klaus Plasa steigt ein, mutiert zu Rob Davis und am Ende wieder zurück. Ein toller Hecht. 😂👍 Aber von beiden schön vorgeflogen und ebenso gefilmt!
... Spitzending ... wenn der Plasa fliegt, dann hat's Charakter … und das waren zwei fantastische Tage dort am Hangar 10 …

@@Gumble1 the p51 doesn't have a turbocharger, it has a supercharger. And no, it has been specifically mentioned by some p51 owners that it's the gun ports, not the supercharger that makes that whistle.
@@emersoncaicedo3146 People report, that some mustangs without gunports also make this sound. It`s not the charger, but it could be gaps on the fuselage, maybe around the doghouse.
@@PaddyPatrone I have never heard a non gun port p51 whistle. Do you have a source?
@@emersoncaicedo3146 I`ve read it on some forums, don`t have a link ready, sorry. But also, I have seen several Mustangs with Gunports, that do not whistle, for whatever reason.
I love the sound of the Merlin...but the howling doesnt come from a turbine...its the wind on the MG holes....however I repeat myself...its a wonderful machine and the plane is beautiful and perfect designed and constructed

He has the gunports, and therefore, the howl. Many people like the howl, but I prefer the pure sound of the Merlin, the prop and the slipstream. Thanks for posting - great stuff!

The Mustang seems faster and more powerful than the others.
Klasse Video! Der Sound der Mustang ist einfach genial. War ein Hammer Display was Rob Davies da gezeigt hat. Sehr schade dass der Besitzer vom Hangar 10 nun fast alle seiner anderen flugfähigen Maschinen verkauft, die beim Fly In geflogen sind (alle 3 Me 109, die Me 108, TF-51 Mustang und Spitfire Mk.XVIII). Aber auch die Pilatus P-2, Fi-156, Bücker 131/133, und Polikarpow Po-2 der Sammlung stehen zum Verkauf. Somit wird es eine derartige Veranstaltung wie im September 2018 wohl nicht mehr geben. Die Me 109G-12 wurde ja bereits an die Messerschmitt Stiftung verkauft, die das Flugzeug aber weiterhin am Hangar 10 belässt, um die eigene Technikabteilung in Manching zu entlasten. Die Yak-9, die beim Fly In aufgrund eines technischen Problems nicht fliegen konnte, hat ebenfalls einen neuen Besitzer gefunden. An wen sie ging weiß ich aber nicht.
Naja, die Maschinen standen schon vorm Fly In zum Verkauf. Dafür ist die G6 "FM-BB" www.flugmuseum-messerschmitt.de/messerschmitt/aircraft/me109-g6/index.html jetzt an den Hangar 10 verkauft worden. Sie soll auch schon dort sein. Ich könnte mir denken, dass der Deal G12 gegen G6 beim Fy In klar gemacht wurde. Der Chef der Messerschmittstiftung war bei dem Event auch vor Ort und ist einmal in der G12 mit geflogen. Und die Fw190, welche aktuell bei den Meiers aufgebaut wird soll ja auch nach Usedom. Der Eigner des Hangar10 sieht sich selbst ja als Warbird-liebhaber und -händler. Da wird es bestimmt noch mehr zu sehen geben. ;)
@@PaddyPatrone Das der Chef der Messerschmitt Stiftung beim Fly In war, und mit der G-12 geflogen ist, habe ich auch mitbekommen bzw. gefilmt. Glaube er flog auch mal mit der Me 108 mit. Habe auch gesehen wie er am Ende des zweiten Tages wieder mit seinem Heli nach Hause flog. Davon das die Meiers Fw190 zum Hangar 10 kommen soll habe ich auch schon gehört. Aber das jetzt alle von mir genannten Flugzeuge bereits vor dem Fly In zum Verkauf standen ist mir neu. Wusste es nur von der Spitfire. Ist auf der anderen Seite aber auch schön das die G-6 als Ersatz für die G-12 hinzukommt. Zumal die G-12 auch noch vor Ort bleibt. Wäre natürlich noch besser wenn ein Teil der zum Verkauf stehenden Flugzeuge ebenfalls am Hangar 10 bliebe, und dort weiterhin gelegentlich im Flug gezeigt würde, auch wenn der Besitzer ein anderer ist.

I wonder, when they designed the Mustang did they intend it to make that howling sound. The P51D is without a doubt the most beautiful prop plane ever built.

@@budmeister WRONG !!!! ALL Merlin Mustangs used the PACKARD, mase in AMERICA Merlin version !!! NO RR Built Merlin was ever used in a production merlin Mustang !!!

They were ALL British designed engines. Some were manufactured in Canada and the USA under license from Roll Royce. All engineering, design and development was carried out in the UK.
@@burlatsdemontaigne6147 yes, the original Allison engines in Mustangs sent to the British were unable to function in high altitude operations, so the ability to escort bombers was iffy. The Rolls Royce Merlin engines were used and the US Army Air Force adopted that engine in the P51. The English named the aircraft The Mustang.🇬🇧🇺🇸🇫🇷
All the P51s had replaced the Allisons to merlins as it didn't have the speed to cope with the 109s and 152s
@@burlatsdemontaigne6147 ALL Merlin production Mustangs used the PACKARD, Made in AMERICA version, modified and improved and those versions ONLY used in the Mustangs !!! And FYI PACKARD did a ton of improvements and upgrading, source Packard as an aero engine manufacturer, something the Brits do not want you to know !! !
@@iangoldsworthy2056 BULL$HIT were all P51 have their Allisons "REPLACED"....the brits replaced 4 as a test mule and none saw service....Nov 1942 North American waited for Packard to get the first V1650-3 assembled and tested to power the XP51B with the Merlin engine. USAAF at that time found out the bombers could NOT get through to their German targets without fighter escort so ordered the Merlin Mustangs, P51B's for high Altitude escort missions, before that time the 2 stage 60 series merlin DID NOT EXIST !!! TIMELINE and the facts of history !!!

Wir sollten unsere Bf 109 nach historischem Vorbild lackieren und ebenfalls mit den bekannten Abschussmarkierungen versehen. Was für die Ami Büchsen gilt , gilt auch für unsere Jäger.
