I was there. I was 16 in 1981 and fully embraced being a new romantic and Duran Duran. Everyone I show my teen photos to immediately comment you look like Duran Duran. Mullet, highlights, earings! Girls loved it. It was such a fantastic time to be a teenager. I saw Duran in Hyde park summer 2022 for the first time ever and they were incredible.

Yes born in 1969 I got to see these iconic bands come out! My first concert was Duran Duran 1984 at 15. Depeche Mode. Cure. INXS. Human League. So many great alternative bands! The 80’s was fantastic.

Great documentary, so thank you for the upload. I think it portrayed the band members as very articulate, which is not always the case. I saw them recently at Madison Square Garden, and they were great. I can certainly understand their longevity.

As a musician myself, I have very eclectic tastes. I have always loved Duran Duran, especially everything they did in the 80's. I also, listen to bands such as Van Halen, Volbeat, Disturbed and the list goes on...instrumentalists like Joe Stariani and Steve Vai as well, but among my hodge podge of music that I keep on a thumb drive in my car is every album from Duran Duran from the 80's. Throws my kids heads for a spin, when they here me listening to those albums in my car. They just can't see me listening to synth driven, neo-disco tainted music (and I hate disco), since I am viewed as the headbanging lead guitarist dad!

Long live Duran Duran! Paper gods is AWESOME! The more I listen the more I like it! For them to create such an album 30 years later proves they were not just a phase from the 80's! And I think Simon looks especially delish for being in his 50's!

Duran Duran should be taught, glorified and repeated relentlessly at the Fine Arts because they were so sensual and striking in terms of style communication approach during the eighties. Duran Duran needs to be definitively brought back to an irradiant and mondial light through the world of art in general. Patrick Nagel, Christy Turlington, James Bond... I mean so many meaningful references linked to them. THEY WERE LEGENDARY AND THEY WILL BE LEGENDARY ONCE GAIN.

I love his sound and hes THE DD guitarist.
But I have NO IDEA WHY they didnt immediately bring back Warren Cuccarullo.....the guy us literally a virtuoso player and was such a great interpreter of early DD work.
But Andy was THE DD guitarist.
It's really apparent that DD lost a LOT of their edge when Andy left the first time.....and never really got it back. It returned slightly with Warren though.

Andy's Awsome....was the best tour.....not quite the same without him.

The round stage was in Phoenix. I was at that show :) You'd not think they had any problems at all setting that up. Was amazing.

lmao..this is too funny! So many classic lines....
Nick: "Andy Taylor...well there's no way we're having him!...Nobody will take us seriously!"
Andy's hilarious impersonation of Nick's accent. "5 slices of pizza."
Roger: "First and last time Nick's been in a pub...with a pint and a cheese sandwich"
    Simon: "perverted sailor et al"

Does anybody here know if there is an interview regarding Rogers short time with the band in 1995 where he played drums for the Thank You album (a couple of tracks) and appeared in the Perfect Day video?? thx for reading :-)

It's funny that they mentioned that they argue over the setlist, yet the last tour (Paper Gods 2016) is exactly the same set list night after night after night. I wish Union, Tiger Tiger, Careless Memories, New Religion, Sound of Thunder, etc., would be included.

For me..Duran Duran died the moment Andy Taylor left the band for a second time, back in 2007.

      @BrendaLee381 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Agreed, they died a second death.... the old stuff was so much better than all this new mediocre melodrama. Whatever happened? But still love them, always in my heart.

With all due respect, but you should definitely give DD's album "All you need is now" (2010) and "Paper Gods" (2015) a try... Songs like "The man who stole a leopard", "Before the rain", "Leave a light on", "You kill me with silence", "What are the chances?" and "The universe alone" are masterpieces to say the least...

They achieved their dreams by hard work/ perseverance. Regardless of social class, they made it . I now have a better understanding of England now, especially with Brexit near. It is interesting to see the similarities and differences between the two of us- Britain/ USA.

I wasn't a screamer. I always listened to the songs and knew all their numbers by head. And when I sang, my friends always told me I sounded so close to Simon le Bon's voice. We taped it once and a male friend thought my female friend sang with a boy. xD. I've been to a concert of them in the 80's

I think this line sums up what caused their music to be so rich and full:
starting at 13:03 - "It was real high energy because everybody was playing all the time. Nobody ever left a gap because they wanted to be heard all the time."
    .

Went to see them in 2004 in Newcastle, it was great to see the five of them back together. They sounded great! I took my other half along with me even though he wasn't a fan but he really enjoyed the night! Wish Andy would come back again.
