Totally! I’ve long been frustrated by this false portrayal of them as throw away bubble gum pop suited only for screaming 12 year old girls, not proper musicians, etc.by the music press for years!! Its taken a long long time for music writing influencers (in general) to start to come around having been proven wrong. Their longevity speaks for itself. I just regret that some people don’t ever get to experience the breadth, depth, strength, and ultimately joy of their full catalog. So many amazing impossibly great songs with all kinds of emotional tone that hit you hard if given the chance.
@@nocturnalmix I also think the younger journalists don't have the 'cultural baggage' of the ones who were Duran's original contemporaries, and they're more able to hear the music for what it is. I've always thought that if Duran had been less overt about wanted to be BIG the music press would have treated them very differently. And of course, if they'd been less good-looking and overtly happy
John Taylors lockdown bass playing tutorials were the best thing I watched during lockdowns. And he's such a nice guy. Simon is a mensch too
Can confirm, JT is a sweetheart that really cares about the fans.
They all are, Simon can be in a mood if you don't respect his space, but if you do you're golden.

I watched those too during lockdown and he had just gotten over Covid. I was so happy he recovered and was doing some music. I love how relatable these guys are. I just saw them in concert last week. They were AMAZING.

I love these guys...since the 80s. First saw them in 89 at 15yrs. I kind of fell out of touch over the years, but was always a big fan. Just went to their Future Past tour in Dallas TX USA and it totally reenergized my love for them! They are such sweet guys and great performers and artists. ❤️ Really excited about this "Halloween themed"project!! 🤯
I just saw Duran Duran Live on 6/4/23. It was the most incredible concert I’ve been to! They are just a genuinely talented band with amazing stage presence. I’ve listen to them since I was a child, over 20 years ago. Even their new music is incredible. Simon is a true entertainer and the band is a great follow up.
They played classic music, the hits, a song from Arcadia, and some brand new music. Then ended with the greatest hits. It was incredible and I wish I could see them again
They are amazing aren’t they - even more so considering they’re al in their 60s now (which freaks me out)

One of the best interviews I've ever watched the guys in 40+ years! Great questions, great answers & the guys seemed more relaxed & at ease in this setting. Kudos to the crew. Great job!

I was 8 months pregnant with twins when I attended DD concert in NYC 2007 at the Hammerstein Ballroom. After waiting for years to attend a concert since I was a teen in the 1980s. I was so happy, I felt like I was a teenager and nothing mattered but Duran Duran at that moment. I♥U Guys!! Thank You!
Same! I went to their June 10th concert alone and was feeling self conscious before it started. But once they came on, it was like no one else was there and I didn't care how I danced. 😁 Felt like a teenager again. ❤️
Just saw Duran Duran 2 nights ago & it was INCREDIBLE! Their voices are still amazing after all these years & Simon nailed everything. I first found then at 13 & I'm 53 now. At this last concert I danced my ass off & was 13 again all night. Best night ever💖

I cant believe this is an interview with NME!? Even hardcore critics know now what a powerhouse Duran Duran is in the music industry!
DD has performed three times in my country, Chile southamerica, the last gig was in lollapalooza 2019 and was a success the audience got wild many parents with their kiddos (teenagers and Young people) all the familias were enjoying the gig it was really awesome how DD crosses generations. My 9 and 8 year old children love listening to DD.
I've seen DD in several US states over the years. All lively very engaged audiences, fun dancing and singing all night except that ONE SHOW in Wilkes-Barre. Omg! Most of the audience was just sitting the whole time - there may have been some toe-tapping, lol. I was really out of place with my screaming, dancing, and singing. It was bizarre. Glad i had an aisle seat!

I think all the guys are articulate and interesting in interviews. Nick is quite arty and funny these days and Roger is quite the story teller given the chance. Johns lock down bass videos were fun and Simon's podcast.

I figure that halloween-theme album should be available by September 24th. id say a key to their longevity is that, no matter how old they get, they retain their boyish passion and enthusiasm for the love of musical performance. Im also AMAZED that nobody EVER brings a 'mostly' finished song to the first writing session for a new album....because if they cant bring it there....what are they gonna do with it?

Simon mentioned wanting to do Glastonbury and specifically the main Pyramid stage, but the second stage is almost as popular; personally i would rather see Duran headline the other stage rather than just having an afternoon slot on the pyramid stage.

Wow, John (and Roger) Taylor look great for their age. However, Simon is really starting to look a little craggy as is Nick Rhodes to a lesser extent. Of course, it happens to all of us eventually. At least the band still seems energized by their new music.

@@mikethebloodthirsty I hate to suggest a face lift because it so often goes horribly wrong. But Simon's face looks really "saggy." But maybe you're right. Just stick with the Botox for now. If Simon's dermatologist stops administering treatments, his face will begin to more or less age naturally again. 🤪

Ironically NME back in those day in the 80s all the critics from this magazine except from RIO album they gave a poor review for most of duran album …especially Seven n ragged tiger n Notorious which hit top in Billboard …. Thats why since that day i always choose Smas hits n No1 ……..indeed

At the beginning of this Simon talked of playing all of a new album to an audience and how it wouldn't satisfy an audience. That being said, playing pretty much the same set tour after tour like Duran do is also not good and frankly can get boring. My opinion is Duran Duran should sprinkle new and album cuts throughout the set in between the heard them a million times hits. That way they will satisfy EVERYONE and bore no one.
Have you ever seen them live? That's what they do. Some new songs, some deep cuts, and some fan faves. They're an incredible live band.
That is what they are doing this tour. Saw them last night. Excellent.
