  • In this video I will walk you through how to reverse your shift pattern on the Gen3 Hayabusa. It's pretty easy to make the change and you only need a few tools to get the job done.

    Great video. You’re way more brave than I am…..making changes to an expensive bike like the Hayabusa! I always thought it would be cool to go to GP shift, but wouldn’t be cool to forget right when you need a quick upshift and go the wrong direction!

    I never understood the beauty of race shift until I tried it on track, it is so so handy when cornering, and I find I unsettled the bike a lot less at speed.
    I don't see any benefit on the road myself tho. Might do it on the new bike tho since I'll be using that on track :) Very nice that the QS just works when you swap it around on there :) A bit of a pain on the sprocket cover, but since you wouldn't do it very often not bad.
    Ah there ya go, haha agreed. On the street I don't see any benefit unless you just prefer it. I love that Busa.

      Busa is king and yeah I've already put it back to standard literally right after recording. LOL I left the sprocket cover off though.

    I think I have only ridden one bike with race shift... and I broke my back... 😀hahaha (totally unrelated), it was an ex Yamaha R6 racebike, was bloomin rapid!

    • @HippoDrones
      @HippoDrones ปีที่แล้ว

      I think on the Aprilia RS660/Tuono660 you have to do something to the ECU to get the quickshifter to work properly in race shift!

    • @MonkeyButtRides
      @MonkeyButtRides  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That sounds like a fun bike to ride minus the broken back! I run all my bikes in standard shift I don't see any utility to race shift on the street.

      @@MonkeyButtRides it was on track... my first trackday. Yeah, I think on the road, it just adds an element of confusion and possibly bad gear changes if you forget

    Holy crap that process seemed simple enough

    • @MonkeyButtRides
      @MonkeyButtRides  ปีที่แล้ว

      It wasn't too bad, even easier on my other bikes.

    With the shifter bolt removed. Shifter would not slide completely off. Did you have a tough time sliding the gear shifter off? Im asking about the part with gear teeth/ the horseshoe looking clamp

    • @MonkeyButtRides
      @MonkeyButtRides  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      With the bolt removed it should come off pretty easy. As long as you are applying even pressure it should just slide off. Make sure there isn't an dirt/grime in the teeth on the shift rod. Check underneath.

  • @rollingchopsticks

    So we have to remove sprocket cover and ride without it?

    • @MonkeyButtRides
      @MonkeyButtRides  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, unless you can find an aftermarket cover or you are brave enough to cut a small section off the bottom of the stock one for the shift linkage knuckle to clear. The stock cover is just plastic, easy enough to cut with a dremel. Proceed at your own risk....

    Where did you get the reverse shift parts?

    • @MonkeyButtRides
      @MonkeyButtRides  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No parts needed. Did it with all the stock hardware. Super easy, just flip it around and adjust the height to your liking.

    I hate riding with no gloves as it feels so odd. This is interesting and just 10 minutes do sort it that's cool.

    • @MonkeyButtRides
      @MonkeyButtRides  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yup, super easy mod and my other bikes are even easier as they clear the sprocket cover no problem.
