Only 2 speakers brands can survive being plugged into 240v mains power supply. JL Audio and Cerwin Vega stroker model..... Max Power Magazine used to be epic. Mike your a legend ❤
Klipschorns also. Listen to 60 cycles. Stroker coil was a little weak. It would overheat. It would go down to about 14 htz though. I love CV. I still have some 10" from the 70s.
15 inch subwoofers are too big. 12 is the perfect size. There’s so much distance between the base of the cone to the rim that it leaves too much room for distortion. 12 inch is tight. 15 inches is just for visually showing off.
Acoustician here. That glue that you see draining down into the voice coil gap that is behind the glued on dust cap effects the timbre from that speaker. You would not want to used that speaker if you are producing serious commercial quality audio.
That glue is not going to reach the gap. The coil former is too high and rises above the cone base. It creates a barrier. There isn’t enough glue to overflow the barrier.

These type of speakers will loosen up all the screws on your vehicle and I hear them all the time cruising around and you hear fasteners rattling around as well. This tells me the owner have a clue on how to secure all fasteners panels before turning these giant speakers on cruising down the street. From San Diego.

I refoamed and replaced that cover in a couple of Infinity SM150s (15") that were built in the late 70s a decade ago and they're still sounding great! Just have to make darned sure that the voice coil is centered in the magnet.
Had a 15 inch speaker save my life in a crash once. Flipped my truck and the speaker box I built kept the roof from caving in all the way.
I had buddy that ran 6x9 boxes speakers in back of his car ..guess what happened

Magnet is small for that size speaker too, not a lot of excursion available there. It is a woofer, not a sub, likely only goes down to 35 Hz or so.
