    I thought that I was going to have to buy a WHOLE wiring harness. I have an 18 year old car, I love that you have the parts number too. People on TH-cam land need to do this as.

    Thanks to this video..I just replaced the 3 front coil connectors on my 07 lexus es 350..as the video suggests..take pictures or draw your own schematic diagram like I did..(hmm hmm..me not being a mechanic necessitated me doing both)..had a little challenge getting the wires out of the connector..but in the end after some struggle..it worked out..and I'm grateful...thank you sir for your video.

    Just wanted to say thanks for this! I had one wire pop out of a coil pack connector for my LS430 while replacing my starter and did not want to replace the whole connector. Now that I could see how to disassemble it, I had the wire reconnected and back together in 5 minutes. No more P0353 code or VSC light.

    This is a great vid. I had two break on me last year on my 2007 Camry. They got the old duct tape fixeroo. Next year when i replaced the plugs again, i was going to go high-end and use Gorilla tape ! After seeing the right way, i might step up and do it right, if it's still running by then. THANKS !!!!! There's the right way, the wrong way, then there's the way that works for that day and your state of mind.

      Duct tape?! I used zip ties! :) Then I found a video showing how to use... zip ties.
      Fortunately, someone linked this video. Somebody else linked the part number. It looks like Ballenger Motorsports is the best place to buy them! $25.74 seems a bit high for 4 connectors, but what else can I do?! :)

    Great video. I recently went to the pickapart junk yard and notice pretty much all the black color connectors were broken and brittle however the brownish/orange colored ones from various Toyotas were not, I simply filleted this video and removed 4 orange ones at the yard and followed his instructions. I used a large paper clip to hold the wires in order. It was a breeze.

    Wow, nice. This is a much easier way from which I was going to do it. I was going to clip, strip, and twist the old wires onto the new wires from the new connectors, and put electrical tape around the exposed wire. This way is better tho, as long as the old wires don’t need to be replaced.

  • @mountainbiker4450
    @mountainbiker4450 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Great video. As someone else said, referencing the part number is a particular bonus to all of us. two questions.... 1) when you bend back the locking tab on the old and new connectors, does it just bend back or click into place in a retracted position. One other YT video recommends a set of "depinning tools" on Amazon for this job, but many, like yourself, just use a small screwdriver; 2) You noted the new connector comes with the white piece already detached from the black part. If it doesn't do you need to separate the two? And, in your video, I didn't see you snap the black and white piece back together if they were detached when you got them as you indicate, unless the snapped together once you attached the entire connector to the coil pack?

    • @brycecarlson
      @brycecarlson  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@mountainbiker4450 going to be honest I did this a long time ago so my memory is a bit fuzzy. But I will answer your question the best that I can.
      To the best of my knowledge the locking tab on the back as well as the connector being seated in the front stays in the retracted position until a new connector is clicked into place.
      Yeah, a depending tool probably would be a little bit easier. I was just being very gentle with the small flat head screwdriver. However, with years past of knowledge now a depending tool would make it considerably easier.
      On your second question of the white surround on the front side of the connector. I am pretty sure that there is two locking tabs on the left and right on the outside of the rectangle so to say of the white locking component. I think you would be able to pry with a flat head or a small pic to open that up.
      Again take all this with a grain of salt it was years ago but that is to the best of my recollection.

    • @brycecarlson
      @brycecarlson  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah; I had to do that one time long before this was shot with a different vehicle. The process is pretty good in this video, and all you need is a new metal connector end to crimp on to the wire and then put back into the connector.

    • @brycecarlson
      @brycecarlson  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just did some looking around. It does seem like you can buy a ignition coil connector set with wires that you could splice. However, I'm not sure of the effectiveness of that. I would check with your parts department using your VIN to see if they can match you up with the harness itself. I guess is that will cost quite a bit more than the ignition coil connector wire harness kits that I'm seeing online for $30 to $40.

      You are very welcome! After looking up videos on how to do it I knew I had to make one with better lighting as it was hard to tell.

      After changing spark plus 3 of 4 snapped even though I was careful and heated them up first (to lessen the chance of them breaking).

    • @brycecarlson
      @brycecarlson  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A full rewire I am not sure of. I would assume you could get the part of the harness going back to the ECM, but maybe not.
      That is not listed in related parts:
      parts.olathetoyota.com/v-2009-toyota-camry--le--2-4l-l4-gas/electrical--ignition-system
      I would ask your local dealers part department, and ask them if you can buy the wiring that goes into the connector (Part Number: 90980-11885). They have a more in-depth system than many of the online parts places in my experience.

      I've seen pigtails (plastic clip with four wire leads. You might want to contact your Toyota dealership and see if they carry those pigtails. I've replaced them on other cars and have soldered them and used heat shrink and then applied high-temperature 3M electrical tape as an extra measure to all the wires. Apply a small dab of dielectric grease to the front of the new connector.
