What ever posessed that person to paint such a beautiful piece of art. Look at this masterpiece hidden under all that paint. Well done bringing it back to life again. Such a pity the other piece was cut off
@@annaavgerinos189Because the accents and patterns on this piece take a tremendous amount of effort to create, and relies on the wood grain being visible to be appreciated or even seen.
LOL the dental appointment. Amazing work removing the paint, with all the repairs, and making this piece look beautiful once again. And congrats on the sponsor!
Finished product really looks good! Whomever painted this table had no appreciation for wood grain at all! Your technique & tool choice may have made this more work than it dhould have been, but great result!
It looks beautiful and you did a wonderful job restoring it as well!!! Crazy how loose everything was with all the fittings I enjoyed your video so I gave it a Thumbs Up
A suggestion for when youre sanding/planing. Use some chalk like they do in the automotive industry, they apply it to look for high/low points when sanding preparing for paint..
I recently saw a furniture refinisher using a baking soda blaster to strip paint off of furniture. It worked really well!! Especially on fine, intricate details and all the nooks, crannies, grain. Though she did mention that she should have gotten the one that held a larger volume of soda. Might be something to check into and add to your tool kit.
I have one of those. I tried it but it wasn’t working. I threw out the footage because it was working so poorly. I used it before and it works alright.
Haha. As my wife says, trust but verify. Haha. I scrubbed it with the wire brush then I sanded with 220 grit trying not to sand through the veneer. I got about 95% of it out. At quick glance you can’t see it. But if you examine it you can still see a small trace of it.
Legend says that a covenant of the 50 brightest psychologists in the world met in seclusion for two years. They were unable to figure out what the person who decided to paint this desk was thinking.
Maybe they should have looked closer to the large blue stain. That was probably a large clue. Then there was the rough cut through the centre of the very large table. Now half a table with a large stain is probably not worth that much to some. If you can't get the stain out, paint it away.
I was disappointed that someone made the decision to halve such a beautiful table and the added insult to injury by painting it. Imagine the hours it took to create that original decorative top!!! Beautiful restoration tho
Your video makes it evident you don't have the patience for gel strippers. Pause the taping & let the chemicals do their job before you start scraping!
I enjoyed the video and your sense of humor. I wish you had spent a little more time showing the end result, especially the top. I felt like we hardly got to see anything.
I know. I hate when I catch a typo when the video is already loaded. I would have reupload the whole video and delete the current one just to fix the letter "c" haha.
@restorationrhode Oh sorry, my bad! Didn't know you only wanted to show an unprofessionel "restauration". A bad example is a good lessen how to ruin antiquities or to avoid it.

Thank you! Yea I’m curious what the other side looked like.
They couldve given it a white varnish, wouldve have been a much better choice on oldstyle furniture
Beautifully done!!! Amazing that people paint such beautiful craftsmanship!!! Awesome!
Thank you! I know!
Beautiful! I love seeing people who are willing to do the work to bring furniture back to it's original glory.
Thank you!!
Beautiful, can’t imagine the work that went into stripping that paint. Whoever painted it should have had their head examined.
Thank you!! I know covered up that veneer design.
May I ask why ?
Why would anyone ever paint something like this??
The veneer pattern is a work of art. Its like painting over the Mona Lisa. @annaavgerinos189

Totally awesome transformation!
Thanks so much!
When you wiped on the poly finish, I gasped at the beautiful colour! Tremendous amount of work and it shows. Love from Nova Scotia, Canada
Thank you! That’s my favorite part. Watching the wood color and grain come alive.
The veneer work on this is so gorgeous
A shame they painted over it.
Totally
Love your sense of humor! Great job!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!

Thanks Jamie! Trying to keep up the comedy aspect up 😂
Stunning restoration! Thank you for putting so much effort and care into saving this gorgeous piece!!
Thank you!!
What an extremely tedious project this was! You have so much patience! The final result looks really nice. You did a great job on it! Beautiful desk!!
Thank you! It was probably the most tedious project to date haha.
I can’t believe you got that paint off so thoroughly! It looks absolutely fantastic. Well done. All that hard work paid off. 👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you!!
Omg I wish I had this table - it’s stunning 😊

Impressive!

So worth the hours of removing the paint. 👏😃
Thank you! I agree. Awesome pattern.

Looks like a console or sofa table to me. Nice job, lovely piece.

WOW It come out so beautiful!!!!!
How long did it take you from start to finish with all the work you had to do on it????????????????
Thank you! About two weeks the paint removal was a total pain.
I applaud you, sir! I wonder where the other half of that table went? Right?
Great question! It was lost to the void.
I mean, why cut it half? It might even have had a leaf. But, you brought it back to a ‘half life’! Ha!
If there wasn't unexpected repairs, where would you get stress & excitement from? 😊
The paint removal supplied plenty of stress and frustration haha.
Allegedly. I like a man with a Suspicious Mind. Be still my beating Heart! How did you manage to get the rest of the marker stain out? Looks Great!
Haha. As my wife says, trust but verify. Haha. I scrubbed it with the wire brush then I sanded with 220 grit trying not to sand through the veneer. I got about 95% of it out. At quick glance you can’t see it. But if you examine it you can still see a small trace of it.
@@restorationrhode You could have saved some, and painted over it. 😉
@ probably could have painted a couple of pieces haha.

Good point. Although they had it cut down. Allegedly.
Haha. We’ve made more advancements on black holes.
Lots of “tartar” removed with that dental pick. 🤓
Showing signs of….deskgivitis 🙃
If you couldn’t before then you can now say you made pi. 😂
Haha
The after footage should be longer.
I agree. There was barely a chance to examine the final product.
I was running out of daylight and rushed the final reveal. Noted for my next video.
@@restorationrhode hehe I feel like I've been caught gossiping.
@@andrerogers9961 it’s alright. Just don’t do it again haha
Table should have disassembled b4 stripper, " wetter, is better"
Hindsight is 20/20. Should have done that.
Good job, but that looks like half a dining table to me.
Thanks! It might be haha. I was told it was a desk and it was used as a desk.
I was disappointed that someone made the decision to halve such a beautiful table and the added insult to injury by painting it. Imagine the hours it took to create that original decorative top!!! Beautiful restoration tho
Thank you! Still trying to figure out if it was a table turned desk or a desk cut down to size.
Great work...that paint was awful!
Thank you!
Ha.. Premium stripper, nice.

I know I rushed the final reveal. Chasing daylight. Should have been more patient.
Nice to see that awful millenial white paint job removed.
Haha. Plot twist, it wasn't a millennial who painted though
White paint seems more 1930s-1940s to me. Maybe 1950s.
Anticlimactic* meaning kinda disappointing, anticlimatic is totally different, and isn't really a word, but it would be involving climate/weather

Just informing, some people legitimately make this mistake, we all need to learn and inform
Sorry, but this is far away from a professional restauration.
Who said anything about professional?
