Beautiful! You’ve restored an heirloom for your niece. I’m sure future generations will also treasure it. It needs an inkwell-eBay has quite a few antique school desk styles
Wonderful. All it needs now is the old ceramic inkwell to be replaced. We have one in our antique desk. (Our cats used to play at pulling it out of its hole and dropping it on the floor.)
I heartily agree that the antique walnut is perfect for this project. The wood looks so rich, and it respects the history of the desk. I noticed the butterfly, too, and reflected on how perfect it is for a little girl. I’ve looked it up, and grey is correctly spelled BOTH ways-grey and gray. It drives the spelling and grammar police completely out of their minds!
Congratulations on the work! I'm Brazilian and I'm always amazed at all the dedication you show with your revitalization work. A "hi" straight from Brazil.
Beautiful restoration. I wasn't aware of your channel until now so I've just subscribed. You deserve at least 10x the number of subscribers, so maybe there is something wrong with the algorithm.
Thank you! Channel is still growing. I’ve only had the channel for about a year but it’s growing! Thank you for subscribing! I should have a new video out in a couple weeks stay tuned.
@@restorationrhode I'm currently on the hunt for a desk similar to this, only with the box part of the desk being metal. I saw one states away from me as I was passing through a couple weeks ago. I should have snagged it while I had the chance. They had a tall shot glass in the well hole. Fit perfectly, but brass would be classy!
When Dinosaurs Roamed the Earth is how old that gum was! Mesozoic Era if You're Particular! Nicely Done! Children will want to sit in it now! Great Job!
I've been looking for one of these antique desk/chair sets in this design. The reasonably priced ones are too far away and the sellers won't ship. Ones I found online that will ship want hundreds just for the desk/chair plus the shipping expense. I do have a set of H-W metal desk legs like these I want to remake an antique style desk for. Your video will be very useful in designing the wood desk parts correctly. I have an antique school desk inkwell to go with it.
You weren’t sure about how to spell the color of your metal primer spray. I have no idea how I know this…but “gray” is the American spelling, “grey” is the British version. To remember the difference, think “a” for American, “e” for English. 😂 Nice work by the way - the restored piece is beautiful and I’m sure it will be a treasured heirloom for years to come.
So sad, everyone using woodstain, especially wallnutstain. We have got so many different woods. This desk, would be even more wonderful in it's original wood.
Excellent!...a shame that you were unable to replace the inkwell with a suitable pen/pencil container...I remember seeing, many years ago, a similar piece painted in a very unfortunate mucus-green...not comfortable for ANY self-respecting and studious child!...dgp/uk
I greatly appreciate the effort and craftsmanship that went into this restoration. However, I found the background music and the paid advertisement distracting from the overall experience. Watched the video on mute. For future projects, a more subdued approach to music might enhance the viewing experience. Thank you for your hard work and dedication!
Fatal, me gustaba más en estado original, con que lo hubieras limpiado primero con agua y jabón para madera y luego suave con lana de acero 0000 y cera de abeja para muebles habría quedado genial... Siempre hay gente como tú que destroza muebles...😢😢😢

The desk is remarkable, but the chair is a stunner, what a design. Great restoration.
Thank you! I know. I love the little butterfly design. Perfect for a toddlers desk.

Thank you! I’m actually thinking about having a brass cup milled to slide in the ink well so she can use it as a pencil holder.
@@restorationrhode I think these days it can be used for cable management or wireless charger as well...
@@carnifaxx wireless charger is a good idea too!
@ Good idea. Toddlers and ink shouldn’t be seen together.
@ agreed!
What a great find. You really lucked out. I hope your niece gets good use out of it. It turned out beautiful. Thank you for taking us along. ❤😊
Thank you so much! I’m glad you enjoyed the ride!
What a beautiful present for your child! Shame you did not have the inkwell. Superb restoration. 🇦🇺🤗
She will love her new desk!
I think so too!
Your editing and pace are spot on but your sense of humor is amazing....your big ol' feet under that desk was classic!
Thanks so much! That's a great compliment!
Really awesome desk. Your niece will love it. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you! I think so too!
Awesome! I cracked up laughing when I saw how brittle the chewing gum was---reminded me of old rubber bands.
Thanks! I just want to know how long it's been there.
They are made for eternity .
I love them .
Great job ! 🪑🤎

Agree I liked the darker stain. I thought the same for the butterfly, appropriate for a toddler. I get checked by grammar police on every video.
Gorgeous restoration!
Thank you very much!
A great restoration; it looks beautiful. I'll bet that desk was old when I first started school back in the late 1940's.
Thank you!
WoW, amazing result!
Thanks!!
Turned out great !

So very well done!

Nice work, just a thought, you can get round usb charger to fit in the inkwell, remember todays kids have modern electronic to use.

Wonderfully done. Beautiful piece.thanks for sharing.👍🏼⭐️❤️
Thank you so much for watching. Glad you enjoyed it!
Love it! Just for whimsey I would have painted the butterfly multi-colors and made the ink well large enough to hold a bottle of water or a sippy cup

Can we possibly get a Masterclass on Professional Camera Blocking? 🤣Great video.
Haha. I just pictured the camera shot being blocked in the masterclass as I teach you how to camera block. Haha. I’m glad you enjoyed the video!
Beautiful job. I’ve never seen a school desk that was adjustable for the back or table height.
The really appreciated ergonomics 100 years ago haha.

Those were my and others desks in grade school PS Baxter, Somerville, MA Early 50's.
I’m in Rhode Island. So it could possibly be your old desk!
@@restorationrhode style yes, however there were hundreds. Only grade four had Formica desks and moveable chairs. School old built before 1900.

For fun I would have superglued a couple of those old gum to the underside…
This is something I would have done. Set prank or joke I’ll never see haha.
Should buy an ink Well for it
Gray in the U.S. and Grey in Great Britain and Canada.

Gotta pay for these videos somehow. Not free.
I thought for sure you were going to screw both pieces to a base.
I want them to move independent of each other
While the craftsmanship is great and I know this is a restoration, dark brown and black do not strike me as great choices for children's furniture.
please use an end wrench, not a vise grip.
Still got the job done…
I guess that you didn't fix the crack as seen at 14:41. A shame....
