For bearings (like the cam bearings), it can be worth using assembly lube. A very thick sticky oil to protect the bearings until oil pressure builds up.
Getting there mate. That gunk is decent. Guess what i used it on.. A ...Honda Blackbird!... Got it last week, needs some work, but only had 19k on it. 99Efi version too. Im doing all the basics, service etc. Will do swingarm off and new shock in the off season. Just changed the cam chain tensioner on it. 😂
Wheels bearing can be done with the simple application of a raw bolt. Through the centre of bearing.expanding the raw bolt and knock out bearing from other side.
Can't believe you have not broken the piston rings smacking the barrels on like that. The rings have to be fed in very carefully as your lowering the barrels onto the pistons with your fingers, if you have not got the proper piston ring compressor tool. Looking great so far.
To remove the bearing use a rawlbolt about 15mm and tap it out using a steel bar. Its quite a while since I did this but I think I used a 3/8" drive extension bar.
Nice to see my bike striped down and been rebuilt ,you make it look easy. Wish I had your knowledge doing a great job see you next month can't wait. 😊😊😊
Hey bro you have to put the air box in before the shocks and the rear wheel. I am doing a 400 and I’m at the same stage as you so this content is very helpful. Cheers
Great video thanks. Don’t understand some of the negative comments. I’m sure you said this is your first resto. And if so, you’re doing a damn good job. I’ve got a 250N at the back of my garage that hasn’t run for 25 years. It’s always been my intention to restore it. Hence my interest in your vids. Really looking forward to watching the remainder of the resto. Keep up the good work. 👍🏍👍
Either buy some assembly lube or mix oil/grease 50/50. Those little dribbles you put on are about as much use as an ashtray on a motorcycle, first start you will get a lot of wear.
What a beautiful job you are doing on this bike. I owned a couple of these as my first bikes when they came out so still have an affection for them. Not sure what your plans are for the paintwork but if you are repainting I would urge you to take time to accurately place any new decals on the tank. Unfortunately I have seen too many beautiful restorations tarnished by the incorrect placement of the decals and it must be easy to get wrong. If you take care on measuring the position on your originals it will help. Someone on the 'Ultimate Superdream forum' has done this also to assist others. Its really looking good!
Good work. However, you would have been better to replace that head bearing race for a tapered bearing set that you can buy as a direct replacement, a lot smoother and will last for decades. I did that exact thing nearly 20 years ago on my Honda CX. They are still fitted today.
Was removed so I could clean it more effectively - it was supposed to be straight forward and a way of me also continuing to learn. But one head bolt decided to make the process a complete nightmare 😅
Got my old mans superdream in garage 1983 last run in 1985 7000 miles on clock two orginal keys and all paper work! But to be honest i know nothing about motorbikes!
Hey I enjoy watching some of the content but jeeez i hope ur landlords ok with you doing this in the office space ur doing this in cuz wow that floor looks bad lol..
I think you're generally doing a very good job. Not really interested in seeing a wet dream resurrected as they were slow and dull to start with. Personally I'd rather see more tuning of modern bikes like your S1000R but maybe this doesn't get as many views?
Those bikes cost lots of monies - it's the future for the channel though!! I want to take on anything and everything. For now the likes of the super dream are giving me loads of experience 😇😁
This will end up on Facebook marketplace in a month or two as "carefully build to a high standard" and It will be posted for a few grand. Only a few hundred miles later it'll go bang and the poor new owner*** will go through hell going through small claims to get their hard earned cash back!!!!
@BikesofRye , You'll no doubt have noticed by now that most of your negative comments come from folk that have no to very little clue of how to do it themselves!
@@BikesofRye How do you know that you haven't snapped the piston rings by jamming on the cylinder? did you check the ring gap or just say "that's "all right"? read the manual and follow it! I bet you didn't wear a face guard while cutting that bearing , no regard for your own safety and sight!

All that hard work is paying off, well done.
Can’t believe how well the bike looks ,l would of skipped it well done, looking forward to the next episode 👍🏻
All kinds of EPIC in this episode, Perfect!
Genuine or sarcasm?
Wow look how far you’ve come from the days on your driveway. Greetings from Ibiza. Still can’t miss an upload even when on holiday.
I'm in Ibiza from the 16th July!! 😎 wonderful place. I know you are enjoying yourself 😁
Wheels bearing can be done with the simple application of a raw bolt. Through the centre of bearing.expanding the raw bolt and knock out bearing from other side.
Oh nice! Will check that out
Use a bit of heat as needed.but I have removed loads of bearings with a Raw bolt.
Its coming together like a dream , a super dream pardon the pun 😂, great upload
Thanks 😆
Great video, really enjoyed this. My first bike back in 1981 was a 250n super dream and I absolutely loved it so loving this restoration…
I absolutely enjoyed this episode! I can already see the bike when it's fully restored and it's going to be absolutely mint 🏍 You're top man! 💪💪
I just want to see it run. Thanks for the footage, great content.
Hopefully end of the month 🤞🏼

What do you mean by saying when 'WE' snapped the bolt!!!🤘❤️🤘doing a great job 👍
Because WE are all in this together 😉

Looking good cant wait till bikes finished
Me neither 😆
You're getting good at restoration ! Thanks.
Thanks 👍
Fantastic bud great video
Fantastic content again. Thank you very much.
My pleasure!
Cool video. Havnt been on a superdream in 30 odd years. Seen some nice ones up at hamstreet the other sunday

Good job on the crankcase covers.
Thanks! 😁
Looking at it from here, you could have pressed the spacer out from the other side and it would have pushed out the bearing you cut out
Either buy some assembly lube or mix oil/grease 50/50. Those little dribbles you put on are about as much use as an ashtray on a motorcycle, first start you will get a lot of wear.
Have been meaning to get some assembly lube... I only end up remembering I need it when I am putting an engine back together 🙈
@@BikesofRye make your own using multipurpose grease and oil mixed 50/50.
Loving the rocky type music 😂
It might have been easier to put the bare frame onto the engine before putting the wheels and forks on 🤔,but its looking good anyway 👍
I was debating that and may still kind of do it by removing the rear wheel and adjusting the frame to meet the engine
@@BikesofRye that will make life so much easier, and you have to remove the rear wheel anyway to get that bloody huge airbox back in
looking brilliant!!
Glad you think so!
Good job, but I'm a metal finisher, and i could polish those cases so tou could see you're boat in em.😂👍good job though not talking the piss.

Brilliant well done..be a great bike when done.
Shouldve taken the opportunity to convert the headstem bearings to tapered roller bearings.
I had the option but thought maybe to keep it original?
@@BikesofRye I'd say that's one mod you could've got away with 🤣

Good job! whats everyone thinking the surprise is? new workshop? 🤔
I hope you’ve replaced the fork stanctions.
They are like new
Sorry, I have missed something. What was the solution to the stuck bolt? How did you sort it apart from buying a replacement?
Engineering firm managed to recover the thread without the need for helicoil
Why was the top end removed from this engine again, have I missed something?
Was removed so I could clean it more effectively - it was supposed to be straight forward and a way of me also continuing to learn. But one head bolt decided to make the process a complete nightmare 😅
I’ve pulled more of these apart than I care to remember! They’re lovely bikes to work on once you learn a few of their very Honda idiosyncrasies.
Damn talk about a can of worms lol.
Looking good 👍
Thanks 👍
maybe the bearing could have been removed with a drift in better condition but I think most would reach for the dremmel instead, i know I would
looking rearly smart now
Get a blind side bearing puller rye
Good work 👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Thanks
Best not to keep waving the camera around...
Not really sure why you stripped the engine just to clean it?
Helps me learn - it should have been straight forward but ended up not so 😅
@@BikesofRye ok fair enough. I'm not criticising it's just youade a lot of work for yourself. Build series is great . Get at that cr😁👍

Spent a year restoring my dads r1200gs. Dropped a valve after 2 days of riding 🤦♂️
Find a 400 motor the head and pistons go sraight on you keep the 250 engine nombers and no one knows

blind bearing puller...
😱 just slid in 😭
Those covers aren't polished should have used wet and dry sand paper (400 grade to start with) then scotch bright pads then polish.
Some autosolve will help as well.
Learn what parts are called ! barrels are NOT cylinder heads! Tensioner should be put in AFTER cam-chain is installed!
Not a chance of that happening !

CB 250 is not worth rebuilding, they were awful bikes beset with design issues.
