Hey quick question how about thestral animagus would they remain visible to everyone or only those who witnessed death? Afterall they're not a true thestral. But you do retain the abilities of your animal form.
@HarryPotterTheory can a witch or wizard become more than one animal as an animagi? I ask because I have a duel patronous. One's a Dire-Wolf and the other is a rather large Peragrin Falcon. They usually appear together but sometimes only one will appear.
@@chloeoeorine You wouldnt know what you would become on your first transformation. So the only thing that you can or could have done is to account for the fact that you might become sth with gills, and perform your first transformation with some water nearby. But that begs the question: if you turn into a freshwater fish and prepared to have freshwater nearby, that's great. But what if you turn into a saltwater fish? That could kill you.
If Lupin went through the process to become an Animagus, what would he turn into? A wolf? His Werewolf form? That being asked, how would that affect his werewolf form? I feel like it would help him take control of the werewolf form.
That's a great question! Lupin becoming an Animagus might help him control his lycanthropy. I wonder if any werewolves in the wizarding world would actually volunteer to be guinea pigs in this experiment.
You have to keep the leaf in your mouth from full moon to full moon, Lupin being a werewolf at full moon makes me think its impossible for him to become an Animagus
I imagine that sometimes Tonks would shift to look like Dumbledore and talk to random students, but the real Dumbledore would sometimes play along so that two Dumbledores were talking to you at once.
I'm not sure were, but I read that one limitation of the metamorphmagus is that it can only alter his/her height or weight very little. So, I don't think Tonks could impersonate Dumbledore, since he is so much taller than her...
No, the animal is representative of your personality, not your interests. The one exception was Snapes patronus but that was through intense feelings of love towards Lily. His patronus and animagi form would probably turn into a dog - the most loyal creature there is. For his sheer unwavering loyalty towards Dumbledore and Harry.
What would happen if a wizard performed the Animagus spell perfectly a second time after they'd already successfully performed it once? Would they gain a second form? If so, would they still keep the first? Would nothing change at all? Would they lose the animagus form altogether? Would they permanently become their animal form?
I think it's the other way around. If you've already achieved a corporal patronous it's more likely to change acording to your animagus form. I mean we HAVE seen instances of a patrounus changing, while we HAVN'T seen an animagus change.
Probably not since it is physical not spiritual. It could change if your patronus were to change before you undergo the several month long process. But I think afterwards it would be permenant

I just had the thought... Since Tonks was a metamorphmagus and Lupin was a werewolf, I wonder if their is a possibility that there son would be both? On a full moon he could take the potion to keep his sanity, and then after transforming into a werewolf, use his metamorph ability to change back. Tonks's and Lupin's son may have the cure for lycanthropy in his veins.
up for grabs? maybe someone will be desperate enough to summon and desummon the spirit of the old owner so he can "defeat" them posthumously. Otherwise, maybe the rule of wands applies. The Elder Wand would "choose" a new person. That person might not even be born yet.
I imagine it'd be what Dumbledoor was going for before Draco disarmed him. The wand would have no master and its real power would effectively die with the wizard.
@@smallstone836 But if he broke out in the starting of his stay in Azkaban, it would have been easier for him, wouldn't it? (maybe he didn't do it in the starting because he was too shocked to do anything, shocked because James and Lily died, Peter turned out to be a traitor, feeling ashamed of thinking that Remus could be the traitor and knowing that everyone in the outside world thought that he was the traitor who sold James and Lily to Voldemort..)
Sirius himself stated the fact why he could only escape Azkaban after 12 years. Dementors were strongly effecting his mind and body(actually any prisoner) and made impossible for him to transform. One mostly forget even who whe is. He saw Peter Pettigrew's rat form with Weasley family on the newspaper which brought to Azkaban by a visitor and immediately recognized him. After that he realized Pettigrew was still alive, it was thanks to his strong urge to get revenge for what Peter did. After that he started to regain control on his mind and body, with his animagus form he escaped Azkaban without getting detected by dementors and swam.
I always tought you are able to choose your animal form since Lupin told Harry that James and Sirius chose bigger animal forms to hold back Remus when he was werewolf if needed to, and Peter chose a smaller animal so he could scout ahead when they were leaving the school, since rats are harder to detect than, well moose or a dog. I believe this was in the books, but maybe it was in the movies only then?
It would be impossible to do that since you'd need to have a clear picture of the true form of the dinosaur. But we don't know their true forms. You'd just end up being one of the cooked up forms in books.
What if Voldemort could transform into a Basilisk? It would make sense since the animal one turns into is dependent on their traits, so Voldemort becoming a snake (since he’s the heir of slytherin) that can instantly kill (his profound use of Avada Kedavra) would be quite possible. I’m surprised Voldemort didn’t try becoming an animagus
Is it limited to mundane animals? Does anyone know if there’s been animigi who’re able to transform into magical creatures? Like a phoenix, or a hippogryph so stuff like that?
Their animigi is the same as their patronus so if dumbledore was to become an animigi then he would turn into a phoenix so I'd assume because they're patronus isn't limited neither would animigi
Assuming you're referring to animagus capability, but I'd imagine it's the same reason why a lot of magic from non-western cultures tends to be naturally somewhat more powerful. The western wizards tend to rely too much on their wands so that it almost becomes a crutch. Even wizards in the Americas tend to be more proficient in wandless magic than those of Europe owing to wands being harder to come by in Ilvermorny's earlier years and the influence of indigenous Native American wizards when the school was founded.
You totally forgot about Teddy Lupin. Don’t know the quote for sure but I remember in the Deathly Hallows Lupin is talking to Harry and telling him that his hair is changing colors faster than anything else. I believe he said something along the lines of ”...Teddy’s hair turning from blonde to red and would be black by the time he got back home...”
I was wondering about this, and I also enjoy your videos very much. I was thinking what if Hagrid was never expelled from Hogwarts, and learned to become an Animagus what form would he become?
Theoretically, could you do this ritual twice? We know that you can actually change your patronus with skill, so theoretically could you change your animagus form? If one were to attempt the animagus process a second time could they have 2 animagus forms? If you can do it a second time why not a third or fourth? No idea how this would work but interesting idea. You could register one of your forms and not the other? Could cause some interesting trouble 😂
Imagine turning into a T-rex, going into a panic attack while transformed, and then waking up later having “cleaned out” the apartment complex down the street.
So here’s a thought... what if centaurs were a group of wizards who all tried together to turn to horses and failed and became half human half horse creatures. And over time wizards forgot about the “crazy group of wizards who failed to become animagi” and now call the centaurs.
also about the relation between patronus and animagus form.. read somewhere that someone's patronus can change with time (Snape being an exemple) while an animagus form is always the same, so I dont think linking both will always work.
I am literally just learning right now that you cannot choose your animagus form. I always thought you chose which animal to become and then set to work making it happen with magic. I had no idea it was canon that you literally just get on with the process of becoming and animagi and the whole time you're wondering what form you're going to take at the end.
Actually your spirit animal aka patronus animal will be your animal form . Like James potters , stag is both his patronus and animagi form , mcgonnagal's as a cat , and Sirius black as a black dog
Imagine Hagrid being a tranfiguration teacher. There is the speculation his patronus would be an acromantula - so would be his animagus animal then. Professor Hagrid enters the classrooma and changes into his animal form. Many girls start screaming, most boys take out their wands immediately, Ron jumps so high he cracks the ceiling. Hagrid pulls him back with one of his claws.
But your patronus can change so is possible that mean your animagus change too? Take Nymphadora Tonks her patronus was jack rabbit but it change when meet she Lupin her patronus turned it wolf. So if she would be came animagi would be jack rabbit then turned to wolf then.
Dumbledore was fully capable of becoming an animagus. I like to think the reason he didn't was because he knew his patronus was a phoenix, and he had already learned his lesson about searching for immortality. He didn't trust himself with the powers of a phoenix.
You missed one animagus, I think, for wasn't Aberforth Dumbledore an animagus who could turn into a goat? I think Aberforth was the Wizard who helped steer James Potter, and Sirius Black, into becoming unregistered animagus. Two or three questions I have, it says for the initial transformation a witch or wizard should find a safe place to hide their wand, for safe reclamation. In future transformations, if the caster's wand was tucked away in their clothing, would it also meld into their appearance? Second question, since the Marauders had each become an animagus to be with their friend, Remus Lupin, could he have also become one, or was he doomed to never be one due to his curse? Final question depending upon the answer of the last, if Remus Lupin could become an animagus, what do you suppose he might become? I guess I lied, I have a fourth question, I just thought up, if Remus had become an animagus do you think that skill would have helped him defeat Fenrir Greyback in a future battle?
So i got a really odd n difficult question. If your patronus is linked to your animagus and your patronus can change like Snape... Would that also change your animagus? If love and desires for companionship is the key to that change it actually really weirdly makes alot of sense when considering the animagus but not so much the patronus.
Snape’s patronus was always a Doe, for he has loved Lily ever since he was a little kid. The changing patronus that we witness is Tonks’, that changes from a rabbit to a wolf.
@@matheusterradeoliveira1082 there would of been a time prior to that not like he was born in love. I just think it be interesting if the animagus shared the changing. Imagine having your feelings confirmed cause you go to turn into a Bat and land on the floor as a frog
Been watching several of these videos lately, in anticipation of Legacy coming to the Switch in July. One thing that crossed my mind in discussing transformation into magical creatures: Does the Beast Division of the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures have jurisdiction over an animagus if they are transfigured? There is a unit that captures werewolves.
Video suggestion:- what is the reason owls like hedghwig and cats like crookshanks / Mrs norris... And many pets are so smart like are they like nagini who were first humans/wizards,witches and then they were bound to some curse which made them to be fixed in their animal form
@@adityabhalekar3506 i don't think so because Hedwig and many other owls knew where to go its not like they purchased Hedwig from a muggle store and crookshanks also the same he helped Sirius ! How could they be normal
I watched this to see if my fantasy of becoming a Hippalektryon was something to give up on. Still not sure. Btw, if you don't know what a Hippalektryon is, it is a creature with the front legs and head of a horse, and the hind legs, tail, and wings of a rooster. It may seem random but so is everything.🐴🐓
So I know your patronus can change, but I don't think that your animal form can change, does that mean that if a person becomes an animagus at different points in their lives they would have become different animals? Or would they always be their first patronus?
So you have to perform all the said tasks to become an animagus everytime? I highly doubt the Marauders always had a mandrake leaf in their mouth, since they transformed for Remus once a month
While suffering from a PTSD-induced form of multiple personality disorder, I took the patronus test three times on Pottermore for each personality fragment. My results were a raven, a wolf, and a tiger. Each personality fragment had its own name, characteristics, and preferences but were able to communicate with and were aware of each other within my mind, so I thought it might be fun to see if they ended up with different results. The dominant, but not core fragment was cunning and adaptive, and he received a raven. The original and most repressed fragment and the closest to my original personality received a wolf, and the most instinctual and aloof personality received a tiger. I took the test about a year and three months ago, and the result was unsurprising. My patronus upon becoming whole again was a wolf.
hmmm well My Patronus is a Hippogriff. I crave freedom and have a strong sense of pride. Yet I also feel much like a dragon. I like to buy things, think of my items as my sort of treasure. I am also extremely smart in some regards to problem solving. So...hmm maybe its a 50/50 between these two magical beasts for my Animagus form.
Thats probably the reason so few have done it. I think you could drink if you're a bit careful without damaging it, and maybe live on soup for that time. Maybe you can speak with something in your mouth, or just use sign language. My biggest worry would be when you're going to sleep

@@nandaloonfellhorn1031 Snape was a potions master. Maybe he learned as an adult.
@@nandaloonfellhorn1031 This is a joke right
didn't deathly hallows 2 say he was a bat when he escaped hogwarts?
@@adityabhalekar3506 he could have cast a spell
I just had the thought... Since Tonks was a metamorphmagus and Lupin was a werewolf, I wonder if their is a possibility that there son would be both? On a full moon he could take the potion to keep his sanity, and then after transforming into a werewolf, use his metamorph ability to change back. Tonks's and Lupin's son may have the cure for lycanthropy in his veins.
A nice thought, but lycanthropy isn’t transferred genetically unless both parents were werewolves, at least… according to the Harry Potter lore.
I really hope you can become an Animagus in Hogwarts Legacy.
Nope kinda sucks. Just respond to your 2 year old message 😂
@@cloak_zero1345 Lol at least someone did. That does suck though.
It's said in the books that Teddy Lupin's hair changed colour after he was born, so I reckon it's safe to assume that he was a metamorphmagus too
Video suggestion
What happens to the elder wand if the owner dies after just winning the elder wand without being killed or disarmed
up for grabs? maybe someone will be desperate enough to summon and desummon the spirit of the old owner so he can "defeat" them posthumously.
Otherwise, maybe the rule of wands applies. The Elder Wand would "choose" a new person. That person might not even be born yet.
I imagine it'd be what Dumbledoor was going for before Draco disarmed him. The wand would have no master and its real power would effectively die with the wizard.
If Sirius black used his animagus form to escape from Askaban... then why didn’t he do it earlier when he went to askaban??
He needed strength to swim in the sea to the main land
@@tetikakemal yess..actually I hadn’t read the books until like 4 months ago so I didn’t know this
he only escaped because he saw pettigrew
I always tought you are able to choose your animal form since Lupin told Harry that James and Sirius chose bigger animal forms to hold back Remus when he was werewolf if needed to, and Peter chose a smaller animal so he could scout ahead when they were leaving the school, since rats are harder to detect than, well moose or a dog. I believe this was in the books, but maybe it was in the movies only then?
I love to imagine an antagonist in the world of Harry Potter being a Dragon Animagus. Imagine a wizard fighting a villain who can turn into a dragon.
If I was an aninagus, I want to be any kind of dinosaur so we could see the true form of dinosaurs and did they have feathers or not
It would be impossible to do that since you'd need to have a clear picture of the true form of the dinosaur. But we don't know their true forms. You'd just end up being one of the cooked up forms in books.
Wow, my patronus is a dolphin so my animagus form would be VERY useful
My patronus is a vulture according to pottermore
My Patronus is a gray squirrel
My patronus is a Manx Cat :D I'm A cat person it makes me very happy to know I'm a cat animagi
Video Suggestion:
What If No Nose Didn't Kill Snape?
African wizards and witches could transform into their animagus form as kids. Why was it so much harder for their European counterparts?
Especially since there is a lot more rain and lightning in the uk
Assuming you're referring to animagus capability, but I'd imagine it's the same reason why a lot of magic from non-western cultures tends to be naturally somewhat more powerful. The western wizards tend to rely too much on their wands so that it almost becomes a crutch. Even wizards in the Americas tend to be more proficient in wandless magic than those of Europe owing to wands being harder to come by in Ilvermorny's earlier years and the influence of indigenous Native American wizards when the school was founded.
Africans specialise in transfiguration and being an animagus.
Yet dumbledore the white man is the best
@@0bliviodice no where in Harry Potter lore is that even alluded to.
Thanks this genually answered my question
You totally forgot about Teddy Lupin. Don’t know the quote for sure but I remember in the Deathly Hallows Lupin is talking to Harry and telling him that his hair is changing colors faster than anything else. I believe he said something along the lines of ”...Teddy’s hair turning from blonde to red and would be black by the time he got back home...”
imagine the possibilities of lupin having his wife an Methamorphomagus
I’m confused because Tonks was a Methamorphomagus and was Lupins wife, so I don’t no what your trying to say.
shame for them they didnt really have time for thoroughly exploring those options
Other than the awesome sex life what is your point here?
Hey Negan would u like to kill Rick Grimes
Their son was one i believe
Could you do a wand lore where you use the Celtic tree ogham for the properties of wand wood as im sure thats where J k Rowling found the information
I would want to be an elephant animagus
"So to answer the question, can an animagus be anything? Yes."
Finally my fantasies of a Godzilla Animagus is possible
Great video! Very interesting and informative, keep up with the great work!
I was wondering about this, and I also enjoy your videos very much. I was thinking what if Hagrid was never expelled from Hogwarts, and learned to become an Animagus what form would he become?
@Harry Potter Theory so if my patronus is a fish could i be abled to breathe air and water or would i imediatly suffocate?
Can you please make installments of other stories with theories and stuff.
I never imagined that Pettigrew ultimely would have had something to be pitied for... going through all that animagi hussle, only to turn into a rat.
So here’s a thought... what if centaurs were a group of wizards who all tried together to turn to horses and failed and became half human half horse creatures. And over time wizards forgot about the “crazy group of wizards who failed to become animagi” and now call the centaurs.
So apparently my Animagus form has a very high chance of being an Ocicat since that's my Patronus 😋
I would want to be a Griffin
Mac Welch I would kill to be able to turn into an dragon
okokok oh yeah yeah I don’t think u can be a dragon
Go to sleep then
also about the relation between patronus and animagus form.. read somewhere that someone's patronus can change with time (Snape being an exemple) while an animagus form is always the same, so I dont think linking both will always work.
You keep me wanting to watch the Harry Potter movies over and over. Inspiring stuff!
If I could be an animagus, I would like to be a panda 🐼
Imagine Hagrid being a tranfiguration teacher. There is the speculation his patronus would be an acromantula - so would be his animagus animal then. Professor Hagrid enters the classrooma and changes into his animal form. Many girls start screaming, most boys take out their wands immediately, Ron jumps so high he cracks the ceiling. Hagrid pulls him back with one of his claws.
😆
Lol
If love and desires for companionship is the key to that change it actually really weirdly makes alot of sense when considering the animagus but not so much the patronus.
animagus doesnt change but patronus does
Snape’s patronus was always a Doe, for he has loved Lily ever since he was a little kid. The changing patronus that we witness is Tonks’, that changes from a rabbit to a wolf.
@@matheusterradeoliveira1082 there would of been a time prior to that not like he was born in love. I just think it be interesting if the animagus shared the changing. Imagine having your feelings confirmed cause you go to turn into a Bat and land on the floor as a frog
damn I am early love the vids tho also I have a question could you make a video about what peter petigrews patronus would be?
It’s probably going to be a rat, if he could even do one
I just realized this is just Star Wars theory with a British accent💀
Imagine if someone tried to be a basilisk but just became an ant
lol depends on their personality.
I already knew the answer, but I’m watching it just because,
wait a sec I thought Sirius and James become a animagus in there third year and Peter finally got it in year 5
Been watching several of these videos lately, in anticipation of Legacy coming to the Switch in July. One thing that crossed my mind in discussing transformation into magical creatures: Does the Beast Division of the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures have jurisdiction over an animagus if they are transfigured? There is a unit that captures werewolves.
If I was a wizard I would definitely try to be an animagus
Video suggestion:- what is the reason owls like hedghwig and cats like crookshanks / Mrs norris... And many pets are so smart like are they like nagini who were first humans/wizards,witches and then they were bound to some curse which made them to be fixed in their animal form
A Maledictus? Yes, that would be an interesting topic to talk about. I learned that Maledictus are female with the curse.
@@diesel10 wow never new that part I'm definitely looking forward if he makes a video on maledictious
hedwig and crookshanks are normal

Odd are low, but I'd hope we get to use Patronus and Animagi magic in Hogwarts Legacy.
This is the most random comment I've seen in years. But I love it so much lol
Can animagi breed in there animal form?
So I know your patronus can change, but I don't think that your animal form can change, does that mean that if a person becomes an animagus at different points in their lives they would have become different animals? Or would they always be their first patronus?
So you have to perform all the said tasks to become an animagus everytime? I highly doubt the Marauders always had a mandrake leaf in their mouth, since they transformed for Remus once a month
The ritual is only necessary to become a animagus, so, only for the first time. Afterwards you don't even need a wand to transform in animal form
I looove all of your channels they are all grear
hmmm well My Patronus is a Hippogriff.
What if you became the giant squid
I know how the Mauraders did it I want to know Mcgonigal,'s less dangerous way how do you learn to change at will
the animated scene from the prisoner of azkaban, what is that from? It looks so different from the games I know!
I needed Rita Skeeter in a bottle movie scene
You are forgetting Teddy Tonks who is only mentioned in passing
How do you eat/drink without the danger of swallowing or damaging the leaf? How did they speak with it while in school?
Thats probably the reason so few have done it. I think you could drink if you're a bit careful without damaging it, and maybe live on soup for that time. Maybe you can speak with something in your mouth, or just use sign language. My biggest worry would be when you're going to sleep
Awesome video!
Does metamorphmagus have to be registered since they were born that way.
I feel like it was put on their birth certificate or something or noted down on their file?
