"I definitely wouldn't recommend waiting this long to add sound to your game" me with my 1.5-year project that still doesn't have sound effects and we are gonna finish the game within this week. I should probably get onto that, lol
Hey dude love your progress. One thing that might help add a little more pop to your backgrounds, as things get farther away in the distance they should get lighter, not darker. So for instance your hills at about :53, those shades should be swapped. Keep up the good work!
I'm just starting out with game creation (well...again!) so this was really cool to watch. I've been struggling to juice up my little platformer, so I enjoyed this!
I just found your channel, and I love the way you're making these videos, besides the game looks pretty fun :) I subbed and will definitely wishlist your game when the time comes :) btw I'm starting to learn unity and c# because I wanna make a game too :D meanwhile your videos with tips and the things you're adding help a lot.
Yeah. I've always said sound guys are the unsung heroes of the video game industry. Sounds make a big difference to the feel of any game, and games can be such a lesser, even unplayable, experience without it. I don't know how so many people manage to play so many games without sound, it baffles me. I can understand turning music off, but SFX? Nah. It's so core to the experience. It also makes me feel even more sorry for people who are deaf though.
Hey bro noticed your music in the start of the vid is "Rookie Harbor" from the CrossCode soundtrack, just wanted to let you know in case its a copyright infringement. Other than that, cool vid.
@@KevynTheJar ah yeah that's the right approach, i just wanted to let you know before anything "bad" could happen :) anyway, nice video, i will be staying to see your progress :)

Best of luck to you! It's painful but the game feels so much more real after you do it!
You got some sweet sound effects in there, really like the squish sound effect
I love how this game is coming along! The art and the enemy behaviors work so well together. I really want to play it.
Next devlog will come with a new demo :)

Thanks for the tip! That was a little counterintuitive for me, I'm slowly learning these things as I draw more backgrounds. Art is hard!
The new effects sound really cool! I really like the variety of areas and backdrops :)

Nice, looks really cool!
The game's lookin great! :D
I'd maybe suggest making the pickup sound a bit more impactful. Just to make the player feel more rewarded.

Thanks! Yeah, if someone from the CrossCode team reaches out or I start to make some kind of money off of this video, I'm happy to change it.

This is something I've been thinking about doing for a while. I'll look into it and hopefully I can have one ready for the new upcoming demo
