That end credits rollercoaster of emotions and revelations beginning with Nikki clutching her head yelling "Ow!" summed up the beauty of falling in love with these terrible-perfect movies in the 80's and 90's. One of us.

Some fun facts about this movie since you mentioned Speed. The director of Speed Jan De Bont wanted to cast Keanu Reeves as the lead after seeing Keanu in this movie. The premise of The Fast & The Furious is very similar to this movie where an undercover cop is assigned to catch the gang of robbers responsible for heists while at the same time embracing the adrenaline life that the robbers are passionate about. Love your reaction It's so adorable 😂😍

This was indeed the era of Peak Keanu. He was at his finest, young and hot and energetic and willing. If you want silly Keanu fare, the earlier part of his career is where you want to look. He made quite a few films that are wonderfully silly to watch.

Yes, his name is Johnny Utah. It's a play on the name of Joe Montana, the quarterback.
One of my favorite movies. I saw this when it originally came out in theaters; I was 20 years old. For me, Keanu and Swayze made this movie. I also loved the performances from Gary Busey and Lori Petty as Tyler. I skipped the remake; it will never be able to catch what the original had or what Keanu and Swayze brought to the film. The original is also directed by one of my favorite director's, Kathryn Bigelow. I recommend watching her very first film, 1987's Near Dark. It's a vampire movie and a very good one.

Another great Keanu Reeves movie, rarely mentioned is "Rivers Edge". Not an action packed movie, but a dark coming of age drama along with Crispin Glover and Dennis Hopper.
Fun fact about River's Edge: Keanu thought the movie was a comedy. He had no idea until he saw the final cut that it was going to be a serious drama. That tells you how much editing and score can change a film!

@@hellonikkilu So happy to hear you did B&T! In the Silly Keanu vein, I recommend "The Night Before" and "I Love You to Death". The first is a pre-Ted comedy, madcap stuff. In the second, another crazy comedy, Keanu has a small role alongside William Hurt, of all people, but they steal the show. :)
Nikki should know that Travis Pastrana did the Point Break skydive for real. Jumped out of a plane with no chute. He was inspired by this movie to do so. "Travis Pastrana Skydives Without a Parachute"
Patrick Swayze movies are so ridiculous yet so awesome at the same time.
In this movie Keanu was a cross between "Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure" Keanu, and "Matrix" Keanu.

I remember seeing the coming attractions and commercials for this when I was in High School. I had no intentions of wanting to see it. I ended up going with friends who wanted to see it. I hated it. They loved it. This was a very big deal to people back then.

Peak Keanu reeves is right now. He was never as big as he was after wick. Even matrix didn't do it like wick did.
Keep in mind Utah was a top college athlete. That's why surfing came relatively easy.

Your main character always had to have a skill set… and always found an opening in with any crew, gang or organization by having a background in something…. Whether it be extreme sports, a cop, a firefighter, a solider, or medic…. But in the 90s a character always had a one useful skill that he learned when he was younger, and applies it to the challenges they currently face. 👍🏽

Definitely tried to teach the young gen you can be anything… through perfecting a hobby, (Skating, surfing, roller blading, snow boarding, mechanic, driving, etc) Or atleast start there.. and branch out your horizon into being a federal agent or robbing a bank 😂

The first Fast&Furious movie is basically a remake of Point Break with Vin Diesel in the Patrick Swayze roll and street racing instead of surfing.
And yes, this is peak Keanu and peak 80’s (even though it’s from 91).
I used to surf occasionally and caught a decent wave down in Newquay England. By world standards they are small but for a young teen of 13 it was thrilling beyond belief. They sometimes put out black flags to warn us but it was coming up to the last few days of my holiday so I took the chance and it was the most fun I had ever had up until that point in my life. I am planning to retire there just because of the narrow beach that forces waves up along cave entrances and a cliffs on the other side. I am Pisces and being a water sign I think that has something to do with it. It is strange that unlike Chimps and all Apes we have the vestiges of webbed feet and fingers where they clearly do not and we have hooded noses which forms an air bubble so we don't drown where Chimps for example would drown very quickly. We also store blubber and fats in out tissues like all marine mammals where as the Apes and even Monkeys cannot. Maybe our ancestors are different to what we have as a standard literature including this very sudden increase of brain size especially the frontal cortex that nobody has been able to explain thus far.
