Swaybar Relocation on your 4th Gen Toyota 4Runner (4K)

  • This video explores relocating the front stabilizer bar (aka "swaybar") on my 2004 4th Gen Toyota 4Runner after installing the Freedom Off Road lift kit. Aftermarket coilovers may cause a tolerance issue between it and the end of the front stabilizer bar. I was experiencing a "clunking" sound whenever there was a sudden change in the left-right suspension geometry. This video shows the problem, relocation kit and install procedure.
    From my reading, the Drop Bracket for these vehicles is cross-compatible: 2005-2020 Tacoma 2WD/4WD, 2003-2009 4Runner 2WD/4WD, 2007-2009 FJ Cruiser 2WD/4WD.

    Appreciate what you are doing, hard to find 4th gen DIY videos! Also love the combination, my two favorite interests, coffee and 4runners!

    Intro is visually neat. And now I know how to gain additional clearance for a sway bar. TY!

    Great video! Thanks. I have bought sway bar links which can be disconnected for offroad and I have clunk noise when wheels are eitrer full left or right, because it collides with steering knuckle. So I need to correct swaybar position. Hope this helps. Also I suggest to replace the loctited bolt to allen hex head bolt. You can easily tighten then...

    Lots of options for tightening that oversized replacement bolt. I would have bought a buttonhead bolt instead, but you could cut a slot in it and use flathead screwdriver...

    Good video thanks. I’d just say I’d go and get a bolt for the one that you loctited on with the same sized head instead because if anyone tries to remove that in the future it’ll be impossible

      Thank you. Yes, I need to do something there. The rivet nut needed to fill the stripped factory mount forced me up a bolt size, which meant a larger head size. I forget what size the bolt ended up being but I basically need to replace with a "mini" head bolt or I need to consider sizing up the relocation block's countersink so I can get a socket on it properly.

    I think you might need spacers under frame mounts

  • @jeepster0934
    @jeepster0934 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Hmmm you should of used allen head bolt on stripped one.

      @@LiftKitCoffee Hey, got the kit in and installed yesterday. So I am wondering the kit came w/ 6 bolts, 4 of same length, 2 of longer length. So I am wondering what are the 2 longer bolts used for? I re-used the factory bolts to mount the spacer to the frame, and then the 4 short bolts for the sway bar. Any ideas?

    • @LiftKitCoffee
      @LiftKitCoffee  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Jesse. I did not. Someone else commented, and it makes sense, that they are used when you use the coil overs for 3 or more inches of lift.
