I use food grade diatomaceous earth for fleas and worms (put a tiny pinch in their food for 3-4 days, every 3 or 4 months, my dogs test negative for worms consistently). For fleas, brush it into their coat down to their skin in trouble areas but not the whole body. Then take a damp cloth and wipe the dust off the surface of their coat so they don't inhale it or get it in their eyes. Then shake table salt into furniture and carpets and brush it in good. The salt kills any eggs that fall off the dog before they can hatch. Vacuum regularly and repeat. Haven't seen a flea in years with this regimen. And no, my dogs have not had any skin problems.

I’ve used DE but it really dries my dogs skin out making them extra itchy and it seems to leave a dusty residue in the house. Of course applying it differently outdoors would probably help so thinking will try that.

@@ghoulgoil5029 Yes. All the salt does is dehydrate the eggs so they die instead of hatching.

I recently discovered your channel and am thankful for alternative holistic options available to treat my pup. When searching locally to purchase Neem oil , I was surprised to discover that in 2012 this product was banned in Canada for use as an insecticide/ pesticide by the Canadian Pest Management Agency. Apple cider vinegar is easily available to purchase at my local grocer, so will try your recipe for that instead.

I have used neem oil to make a anti mosquito, midge fly spray for me it is very good.
For now I also add lemon eucalyptus oil as well when making it for me. I don't know if this oil is okay for dogs.
But I like to find alternative options as one of our dogs has sensitive skin, but has had it most of his life. He is now 12 years old.

Dear Dr. Jones, what do you think if I try this combination on my dsungarian hamsters? I have been applying coconut oil (flavoured with garlic and tea tree oil) from long time, without any issues, however they still scratch more than I like. Their fur is actually nice but I see them a bit bothered and I know they used to scratch less and not so abruptly, as they were younger. Seems like my mixture is not strong enough. The hamsters live in natural XXL homes, where we mostly do just spot cleaning (vinegar), have a healthy natural diet and I never used any chemical on them. They are 2.5 years old now and still active and healthy. I would be very grateful if you gave me your opinion on this mixture, I would only apply it behind their ears, alongside the spine. Also, would you recommend the same ratio? And thanks so much for making the amazing videos, every pet owner should seek natural solutions! :)

That is a good idea. Hadn’t thought of neem. Thankfully the Good Lord blessed me with a recipe idea for fleas and it seems to be pretty effective…and it smells good. A few drops of patchouli oil, cedar oil and peppermint oil in water. Shake it up and spray along the spine and a bit on then on the paws and hind legs and a small amount at the top of the head. I also use cornmint granules in the yard once a month. This, along with regular bathing and use of flea comb when I see unwanted critters trolling my pups is working pretty well!

I read somewhere that the mosquito repellent, “cutter naturals”, insect repellent,
Deet-free, it’s safe to use on pets. With this be true? I’ve used it on my dogs it leaves a nice smell on the dogs and I haven’t seen any fleas I also sprayed on their bedding. Sometimes I spray it on my hands rub my hands Together and then I will rub it around their eyes and nose but not in their eyes and nose and kind of in there the little flaps of their ear and around your ear but not down deep in their ear. Just try to get them covered in it kind of down there for a little bit around their feet. It helps a lot with the sprayed on their bedding I’ve noticed. Is it safe?
And also ,do you sell your own products and if so where can we purchase them?

Credit goes to a person by the name of 'wellness mama'
    10 drops eucalyptus,
10 drops Rosemary, 10 drops lavender, 10 drops lemon,
    30 drops Cedar or Citronella,
    30 drops geranium or bergamot
    1 tbsp vodka,
    1 teaspoon glycerine (binder).
Half a cup of witch hazel.
    Half a cup of water.
*Combine in a similar fashion as to how the veterinary doctor has done above.
*if the witch hazel you purchase has alcohol in it, no need to put the vodka in as a preservative.
With aromatherapy, it's very important not to exceed 5% for adults and 2% for children..
It's always a good idea to do a patch test, as you would with any new medication..
I'm not affiliated with Wellness mama but would love to see vet secrets test out her recipe..
A rare & odd story from here. Not much Lyme disease in Australia, even tho ticks can be rampid in nsw and Queensland. Unfortunately our doctors aren't educated on recognising it. When my daughter's friend fell paralyzed, her doctor thought it was in her head and sent her to a psychologist.. many months later she diagnosed herself with lymes disease. She was correct. @@mimijohnson7714 I totally agree. Lyme disease is classed as rare in Australia, even though many cases are reported each year. Up north, ticks greatly affect the health of our animals..
My daughter's friend diagnosed her own Lyme disease..
She was feeling paralysis and her doctor suspected she was making it up and sent her to a psychologist. She said it was maddening because the professionals didn't believe her. She did her own research and eventually asked for a Lyme disease test. She was correct. She wrote to the Medical Board here about her experience. Hoping Lyme disease would be recognised more.
A lot of people move up north with their pets and then their pets pass away from this.
I hope that doctor can do a video on signs and symptoms to recognise tick illness within our pets 🤔👣💦🌿

@@GrannyGrice Lavender is known to be a great bug repellent. I will try the Dr. Jones recipe but use a fractionated liquid coconut oil instead and add some lavender oil. I think if using an organic oil I'd go 5 drops per 1oz (30ml) to start off and see how strong it smells. I'd also wait a few hours at room temperature since cold oil doesn't smell as potent.

I’ve realized that quite a few natural repellents that work for mosquitos do not work for fleas. There are so many dogs in our neighborhood and an invasion of wild rabbits for the last 7-8 years, that fighting fleas every summer has become a literal war.

Fleas are bad this year for some reason. My boy cat has never had fleas and doesn't roam around till this year. I had squirrels climbing my patio screen several times a day then both my cats got fleas and now I am still fighting to get them out of my home. i can't use anything with strong odors or essential oils because of my own health problems. I have treated my cats with a topical which I don't like to do but had no choice. i bought Wondercide flea and tick and sprayed inside and outside my home which did help but still see a few fleas jumping on me but not like before a couple weeks ago. I found out I can't tolerate Wondercide essential oils are to strong for me and I got sick.
