Hi Doc!! Im new to the channel and I was wondering if you have a recommendation of a natural repellent for mosquitoes for dogs. We seem to have hundreds of them this year.

I wasnt Really crazy about her size but when we seen the condition that those babies, we basically threw the money at him and ran. I wish we could have taken all of them. We have easily spent $10,000 on her health care. We kept pressing for Allergy testing, so we would have a base line of what we were dealing with. Our Vet kept rejecting it. Finally they agreed and she's off the chart Fleas, dust mites & food mites. A medication was made specifically for her. It has helped, but 4 years in, we still have a ways to go. We love her so much, we'd do anything to make her healthy 💕
Thank you for that. I hate pesticides so always use natural oils diluted. Only thing is my dog sometimes gets bitten and he gets flea allergy rash on his back. Is there something soothing I can give him internal or external whilst I'm ridding the fleas. ?
I have put organic coconut oil on my son’s pit Latté hotspot on his top above his tail that he would get from chewing at fleas and the coconut oil healed it up fast. Thanks so much I’m going to have to gather up the ingredients for this one
❤we’re making this tomorrow!!❤
My dog is full of ticks! I don't know how many we pulled off of him! I will be applying this today. We live in the tropics and this is our 3rd year here and have always given our 2 dogs a pastilla (pill) every three months for this kind of thing but I started rethinking the toxicity of that. We don't have much of a yard but what we have has rodents, cats, iguanas and other night critters that could be bringing the ticks in. We will start spraying the ÿard with neem and water and dosing them with this.
Hey! Did spraying your yard and applying Dr. Jones' spray to your dogs work?
Someone commented that puts apple cider vinagre in their dogs water and it helps
Thank you so much for this natural flea repellent recipe. I subscribed to your channel.
Always wish you were my vet! My go to vet for sure!
What brand of neem oil is that???
When it comes to ticks, it's the only time I turn to the pharmaceuticals for my dog. We go hunting and bushwhacking deep in the woods, and had a whole ritual of pre and post journey natural tick treatments. I'd still find ticks on my dog alive and kicking days later, despite a thorough daily check. I honestly believe Bravecto saved my dog from catching Lyme disease.
95% of dogs are naturally immune to lyme disease
I put apple cider vinegar in their water. Live in woods.. keeps ticks off mine 🙂
Dogs can drink apple cider vinegar?
@@sandraromanowska3309 sure can .. very healthy. .just put in water and it helps keep away ticks from the dogs and aids in digestion just like people . Been using it for years also good flea spray
@@sandraromanowska3309 Yes, as long as it's diluted in water.
Thank you for making these videos. Love you and your dog. Tulla is a lucky girl.
thank you Hilda! she is the best :)
"Nobody seems to like these guys..." 😂 Almost felt sorry for the fleas and ticks! 🥰
Right?!
I save every bug, bee, spiders but no fleas & ticks lol
Id add pyrethrin too, 40 drops( chrysathmum oil)
How long is the shelf-life if kept in this blue spray bottle at room temperature?
Hi Dr. Jones. Thank you for all the helpful information. Do you think the Waggie flea collars with essential oils would also be good to use?
Always fantastic advice thank you 🐾🐾🌟
I just started seeing fleas on my dogs. Will this just repel or will it also kill the ones already on him?
would a 50/50 mixture of white vinager and water be safe and effective too? i dont have the money for all those oils and stuff
I’ve been using white vinegar around my house to kill and repel the fleas. Did you ever try it on your dog?
White vinegar and water doesn't work here In MA. TICKS LAUGH at it
Thank you dr jones for the good information
HI, Thanks for all your amazing videos, from all your tips my 16 year old cat has not been this happy in years. Would this spray deter the paralysis ticks found in Australia. Thanks
Is it working
I am wondering I have aloe vera gel and aloe vera and I also have witch hazel can I mix them and if so how much of each should I use
Hi Doc!! Im new to the channel and I was wondering if you have a recommendation of a natural repellent for mosquitoes for dogs. We seem to have hundreds of them this year.
I just made your latest flea control remedy. Let's see how this works. It smells good which is a good sign.
Thank you for sharing. I will definitely try it. 🐾🐾💞
Thank you so much for sharing this recipe. 🥰🥰
Thanks for sharing easy recipe!
I have a Yorkie with Allergies (The Breeder was recommended from AKC...DONT FALL FOR THAT RECOMMENDATION!!! My 18 year old Pug passed & my husband was desperate to get a baby for me. We went to visit our little one...There were at least 50 yorkies, in this small house. THERE were Fleas ON TOP of Fleas.
You have more than one recipe for flea and ticks which one works best..thank you
Is there an alternative to the lavender oil? The scent is a trigger for me. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with the public.
He didn't use lavender. He used Neem and cedarwood oils.
Peppermint essential oil
I think I'll use this on myself too. I got some flea bites when I was working outside where raccoons run around.
Good choice. I get raccoons and possums too, and they do bring the fleas. I see the squirrels scratching too.
Thank you so much I LOVE your home remedies but what about if the dog is allergic to coconut oil 🥺
Maybe you could use sweet almond oil as the carrier oil instead.
Yes, or Olive oil
I use any oil that I would eat myself.
Should we be using witch hazel astringent or witch hazel alcohol free?
@@stacy2254
I have always used the alcohol free version of Thayer's on my cats.😊
outstanding, I will give it a try...thank you
If I just have regular witch hazel without aloe, can I add aloe to the mixture?
Yes 😊
I used aloe juice because I could witch hazel without alcohol is stores near me. I ordered some for next time.
regular cooking coconut 🥥 oil is fine?
Great formula! Thank you so much!
Amazing information. Thank you
Glad it was helpful!
will be using this for my cats and dog, thank you x
Hope it works great:)
I have a lavender Castile soap, would this work?
Yea as fleas and mosquitoes dont like lavender.
@@Sparkkel60 nice. I’ve heard that lavender was both safe and dangerous for cats so just wanted to make sure
What better for ticks this recipe or the one with lavender and lemon oil
They are both equally effective.
Thank you Doctor I really need this for my dog! 🙏🏼💗💖
Love your content sir!
Its antibacterial antifungal properties are amazing fronour pets and for us too!! Coconut oil has antimicrobial and antifungal properties due to its MCT content - specifically, lauric acid.
Dr Jones mentions in his video that both the witch hazel and the coconut oil are sooting to irritated skin, so it's already in the mix!
Honey salve helps the best.
Q. Hello doctor, my cat do not have any flea but can I still use this solution on to make sure she is well protected? They like to roam around a lot outside of the house.
Hey Doc, thanks for the post. Where can I get some good quality oils (neem, coconut, etc) foe this recipe?
I get mine off Amazon. 2 years ago I found a bunch of different oils on clearance! Make sure it's 100% natural though! I always check the company also. Happy shopping
@@blaze3884 thank you for responding.
@@luv2luv720 thank you for responding. I have been searching on Amazon, but reading some of the reviews makes me kind of skeptical
I had to make a flea spray recently and during my research found the safest variety of cedarwood oil for pets is: Juniperus virginiana.
James Child could you recommend a reputable place to purchase this oil?
@@msnini2982 For dog flea spray I purchased NOW brand for cedarwood. You just don't want the dog to ingest it. I did realize that if the dog likes to eat coconut oil, then you need to use a different oil in the spray or they'll lick it.
@@jameschild1321 thank you for responding. I know the NOW brand is very good and I trust them. Thanks again
This is different than the previous one he made. Which one is better?
Would you recommend using a diffuser as well to treat the house? as fleas hide in carpets and crevices.
I suggest using the natural spray method.
Hi Dr! What is the best tick prevention? My husky has had 2 different types of Lyme disease at once. This fall has been terrible for ticks again, I just found 5 on him. I dont know what to use anymore. Or how to treat him after bites besides the antibiotics.
Do you still recommend the other recipe you made before with also vera juice and lemon, cedarwood, lavender and peppermint with the witch hazel?
If it helps, that particular Dr Bronners castile soap label being blue is a peppermint fragrance. It also comes in green eucalyptus and amber almond labels. All are wonderful soaps for your own body also.
@@susanjerrell9220 I believe the dark blue label is peppermint, while the lighter blue label used in the video says "Baby Mild" on the label and is unscented. That is the one I use for our dogs and cats.
@@bethanyherrera4787 , ahhh, I see!! I didn't know it came in that flavor. Thank you!
Wish he would respond to this comment in order for us to create our sprays cuz now I have ingredients for both and not sure we can mix the Castile soap, witch hazel, aloe Vera juice, and coconut oil all together along with the essential oils mentioned
Which witch hazel are you all using? Astringent or alcohol free
Can I use witch hazel without aloe for this spray?🤔
I have a Persian cat, very long haired does the spray need to get to the level of the skin and reach every single area or can I generally just spray throughout on will the smell still repel fleas and ticks? Thank you in advance
I would love to use this on my puppy 8 weeks old. Would this be safe?
I thought of a couple more topics for potential future videos. What about intestinal blockages in cats? How to stop cats from eating non food items? Identifying and preventing pyometria in female dogs.
Thanks Kim! I have a video on Pyometra :) th-cam.com/video/PtluEiGeezo/w-d-xo.html
Good evening Dr Jones what the thing about peppermint as a natural flea repellent is dangerous for cats? Thank you for this video.
Hi Paula- Peppermint is safe, it's the concentrated essential oils that are not. Best to use it as a tea, or diluted to 2% or less to be safe
@@VeterinarySecrets well I should have been more specific. I have a vial flea...etc that someone gave me for Lilly. I will look at the ingredients. Thank you for responding to my text. But I will try your treatment. 👍👌👌👌
You could also use polysorbate 80 instead of the Castile.
Did it work?
Polysorbate 80 has alot of bad side effects in humans .. maybe dogs too. Check into it.
Thank you, so happy I found your channel. Is this safe for puppies?
you have so many flea and tick sprays, which one would you recommend?
I love this thank you 🐩🐩🐩❤️
Grape oil safe as well to ise?
does this also help with mosquitos?
Thanks for sharing doc!
You're welcome
What can you borrow on a counter for used for a dog that has little pieces of Hair missing has blisters or little knots on their feet their stomach and their head she had a yeast infection and nothing has worked
How often do you spray this on dog?
2-3 times a week.
which of your recipes works better against ticks ? This one or witch hazel, aloe vera juice, lavender, lemon, and cedarwood essential oils.
I am wondering the same @veterinarysecrets
😢 wishing best would respond lol that way we can make our blends to protect our babies! ❤️
@@saraht9204 Me too !
Email them directly! They respond super fast!
Will this repel mosquitoes also?
Could you use lavender scented Castile soap?
I watched a video from 2 years ago and I thought the Dr Andrew said that Neem oil could not be used on cats because they lick their fur.
Maybe I got that wrong, I just want to make sure.
Does anybody know?
I have neem oil that I have used on my plants. Is that the same name oil that I can use in this solution? Or is there a different type of neem oil.
Same
New to the channel. I appreciate your content. Can we utilize the diy shedding spray and flea and tick spray at the same time?
Dr Jones, We need a wholesome spray that we could buy for Canadians and Americans from your website
Thank you so much
Does this work for mosquitoes also???
