    I will tell you about a GM/Authorized Theft Deterrent Locking Cap for your Capless Fuel System that is on my 2019 Silverado All-Star Edition V8 5.3L Truck.
    I do recommend this Locking Cap; it is only a meant to be used as a DETERRENT, it also helps to keep water and dust from getting on and into the capless fuel system. now of course if you submerge your vehicle in water and it goes above the fuel pipe yeah it's not going to help with that.
    With the high price of gas and fuel theft on the rise, when a potential fuel thief or vandalizer opens the fuel door to syphon the fuel or dump something down into the tank and sees this Locking Cap they just may keep on walking.

    That lock is horrible. Sure, no locking cap is foolproof, but any fool with two fingers could pop it off with very little effort.
    Even you showed that it was easier and faster to just pop it off rather than unlocking it.
    That's not a theft deterrent. That's a theft of $17.48 +tax

    • @HowtowithPaulHenderson
      @HowtowithPaulHenderson  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Very true, like I said it's just a theft deterrent, some people may not be smart enough to realize that they can just pull it off. And I figure if someone did take the cap off to either steal the gas or put something in the fuel tank then pulling the cap off and not putting it back on would let me know this so I can further check into why it was off before I start the engine and ruin the vehicle. Not sure why GM didn't make a locking cap much better than this one. I searched all over the internet for an aftermarket locking cap but couldn't find one. Hopefully somebody will come up with one wish I had to know how because I would. For $18 I think it was worth it regular retail price definitely not.

      Came across a TH-cam video today about the capless fuel system. As you know if water gets past the first trap door it won't get past the secondary door because there is a hole in the fill pipe and water should drain out of there. Well this one guy lives in a really cold climate said it was about 20°. Why he went to go get his truck washed at 20° I have no idea, but water from the car wash had got past the first door and the water froze before it could drain out of the hole and space between secondary door and the first door was filled with ice. So I did read that on these locking fuel caps it will help to keep water out so I guess having this cheap ass cap on there while you're going through a car wash is a good idea.

      Nice idea though, there is a screen to keep a drain hose from syphoning the fuel, plus a secondary trap door to keep out unwanted liquid. But yes they should make an optional heavy duty locking cap if you want one....

      I just filmed a review video on this, this morning talking about the advantage of this locking cap keeping water and dust out and how it is only a theft deterrent device. Hopefully when they see the keyhole they may decide to leave it alone. But if they do decide to give it a good tug it will come off. However, if the second lower trap door is not pushed open whatever liquid is dumped into the fill pipe will dump out through a hole in the fill pipe.
