    haha, just completed my grand campaign following your tips. Couple of feedbacks:
    1) I ended up with tons of prestige with this but no where to spend coz I can't upgrade beyond 3 units. Was drooling over all the nice shiny equipments when I got to America, like a rich kid in a toy store but was only told to choose 3 toys... sigh...
    2) I did kept 1 of initial artillery piece which was useless by towards the end of campaign. Only manage to get 1 lousy Stug with Industry connection early on in the game then no more new prototype. So I had to slug all my old artilleries through America, drooling over their nice mobile artilleries. I was always few generations behind the enemies because by the time I farmed their artilleries, it's already obsolete in the next game
    Having said that, I did enjoy the enemy equipment farming, not from prestige standpoint, but as my collection trophies, ie. love the T34/43 but in the hindsight. I will start a new campaign without those limitations.... ;-)

    Industry Connections can get a bit crazy, even on the toughest difficulty. Ran through the back end of Axis Ops 43 with two Tiger IIs, and 60 in the pool.
    With the option to assign four Heroes to them, it becomes a turkey shoot. Not quite in the spirit of the game though.

    Unless I am mistaken, killer team sounds cumulatively very attractive in Axis Operations as it effectively gives you get three heroes times the number of DLCs, rather than just three in the vanilla campaign. One way to think of it is that picking some traits in one DLC will not benefit you in the next (except prestige in some cases). But with killer team, you inherit the heroes from the previous DLC so there is a legacy effect of what you picked before. Towards the end of the war, if you've been picking killer team for every DLC, it sounds almost broken - your units would be led by superheroes! The only problem is what further disadvantage you pick in order to afford it (e.g. if you want the power 4). Slow modernisation doesn't sound too bad in the DLCs, but I am not sure about artillery denied beyond SCW.

    • @TheEdmon
      @TheEdmon  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The same can be said for a number of other traits though, that grant additional money or EXP in some way. For example: AA vet allows AA guns to kill way more than they normally could, unlocking EXP/medals way faster than if you didn't. These buffs will carry forward...
      But yeah, Killer Team is particularly strong.

    • @theodisius1
      @theodisius1 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@TheEdmon Yes, I was oversimplifying but the legacy effects of most other traits seem a little second order (except prestige/money ones like liberator), whereas killer team scales almost proportionately with the number of DLCs. Put it this way - in the regular campaign, killer team gives you 3 great heroes whereas some other 2 point trait gives you a benefit X. In Axis Operations, killer team gives you an average of 15 great heroes per DLC (averaged over all DLCs) whereas another 2 point trait still gives you X and maybe a little bit more than X. Before I looked into this, I wondered if they would make killer team a once and for all thing (just 3 heroes for the whole AO) but understand that would be not fun.
      Incidentally, I just watched some of your videos on traits etc and was impressed by the sound of the "power 4", so restarted a vanilla campaign to try it out. It is a lot of fun, making the game all about encirclement. I did not take my usual pick of killer team and so far the heroes I've been getting after every mission feel "meh": The ones you get from killer team are definitely a cut above the usual. But for the regular campaign, power 4 plus slow modernisation seems very strong (I'll do the historical path so won't be going to the US - hopefully the limited upgrades won't bite me at the end).
      Thanks for your great guides - they are the best PzC2 resource out there!

      @TheEdmon  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey, well my opinions on these have developed over time. They are "Win more" traits. Basically, if your already really good at the game, they allow you to "win more". I.E. get more money, capture more stuff, etc. But they don't actually help you win if your struggling. So I don't recommend them to those who are having problems actually winning consistantly, there are better things to select. But if your very good, then they are great. They will allow you to maximize loot capture, but don't really give you any additional combat effectiveness.
      I hope that helps.

    - You choose your traits at the beginning of every (!) grand campaign, even if you import an army from an earlier campaign. So you can select "killer team" every DLC and/or build up your artillery corps in the spanish DLC and take "denied artillery" for free at the later DLCs. It also means that you can choose your traits accordingly to the needs of the DLC.
    - How about this idea for a challenge run: take "trophies of war" in the Spanish DLC, capture as much equipment as possible and play the subsequent DLCs only with captured equipment. Yeah ... Infantry is a problem with this ruleset and it might be boring to watch. But it sounds like fun :-D

    • @TheEdmon
      @TheEdmon  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can, it's not like I said you can't run Killer Team or that it isn't good. It's very good and as I said, the scenario designer himself takes killer team to test the campaign. It is a very powerful pick. But I will be running Power4 and Trophies to steal everything that isn't nailed down + industry to get a lot of great gear early. Power 4 is a lot of points and with trophies that's 6 used. Not much room to add Killer Team if you are really going to farm gear.

    Interesting thought I just had, isn't delayed reinforcements basically a +5 instead of a +2? If you're a sadist who takes delayed reinforcements, wouldn't green army be basically a free +3 since you can't even reinforce to begin with? Makes me think that it's maybe, kinda sorta not as awful as it could be.

    Two addition to two advantage:
    Panzer general is very useful in SCW already, yes, your armor is bad, but the enemy armor is great, and you will capture and use it. And 25% slot reduction means all the 3 slot armor cost only 2 slot, making it 33% cheaper, which means you can field 50% more for the same slot cost. That is insane. Also it makes free OS, since a 2 slot unit can be OS-d to 11 for free in core cost, and that is a nice bonus, and one more reason to never take the no OS, since you can regularly get free OS on the cheapest units.
    Killer team is still one of the best option, but not a strait just pick it and done option. In the base game, you have 20 something map, that gives you 19 heroes, and with the team, you get 22, 15% increase at the end, and up to france, you get 6 map, 5 heroes, versus 8 with the team, 50% increase. In the GC, you have more than 30 maps until and of france, with some extra heroes here and there, so you get 30 heroes, the team gives you 3 heroes for each campaign, so it is 9 bonus, but still 30 versus 40, only 33% more, and having more when you have 5 is great, to get something really good, having 40 instead of 30 means you will have more bad ones, at that point you will have more heros than units, with team, you will have almost twice as much, yes, you can sell the bad ones, but really that worth 2 points?

    • @TheEdmon
      @TheEdmon  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If only Panzer General included Recon cars, it would be a much stronger pick. Honestly, top end recon is actually just a lot better and more flexible than most of the armour in SCW. T26 is very nice though, for sure and would be good for your 3>2 slot idea, but they are relatively rare. The thing about Killer Team is that it picks from a special list of only the nicest heroes... so you always get something nice.

    I have been playing with Industry Connections and Retrograde, and it's fun. It is a bit hit-and-miss in the SCW campaign, but it shouldn't be that bad in 1940 (I've been alternating so I can get up to date in 1939).
    Also Poor Maintenance isn't that bad. You usually have more than enough turns to deal with vehicles being down at the worst time. And it also never affects infantry, so if you run an infantry-heavy force, it isn't a big handicap. I treat it like "realism mode" since having perfectly working tech seems wrong to me. It's the same deal with Inefficient supply. The only units that get really affected by it are recons and tanks with steamroller.
    And finally, force dispersion is ok in SCW and 1939. I still haven't gotten more heroes than units in at the end of 1939. If I take it for 1940 it probably wouldn't be until halfway through France that the spaces all fill up.

    Quick question about "Slow Reaction:" does it also apply to supporting units (i.e. artillery, AT guns, and AA)? If those supporting units can *still* return fire (because the AI isn't attacking them directly), then Slow Reaction may not be _quite_ as punishing because you could technically use it bait the AI into making suicidal attacks. For instance, baiting a T-34 into attacking an overstrength Panzer III protected by 3 AT and a FlaK 36 cranked down to ground level.
    It still sounds like a horribad trait, though that will make your life much harder. I'm guessing that it will also apply to aircraft as well, which may mean that the AI has no reason not to send its tactical bombers straight for your AA, Veteran or not if you don't have overlapping coverage?
    If the trait also prevents support fires, then it sounds almost unplayably bad.

    • @TheEdmon
      @TheEdmon  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am actually not sure. Honestly the trait is so bad that I've not experimented with it much. The thing is, without return fire your fighters are going to be eaten alive. Your airforce will then be next. So the trait basically precludes you from having aircraft in any capacity.
      Infantry without return fire are going to be eaten whole by tanks as well. Since close combat tiles will no longer protect them if they can't return fire.
      I can't imagine taking this trait, even for something like 6 or 7 points.

    Liberator is a solid C? I'd disagree. It's pretty much worthless. You get a bunch of legendary heroes that provide you with 50 prestige each, for every single turn. Near the end of Spanish Civil War you get the first one and in 1939 I think you get another two. These heroes alone will net you way more prestige than Liberator ever could, so for 2 points, it's pretty much one of the worst traits you can pick in the Grand Campaign.
    Other than that, agree with you on the other traits :)

    • @TheEdmon
      @TheEdmon  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You do get one legendary hero in SCW, so I don't think you'd struggle for prestige... but you know it's still a trait that has no downside and can generate a lot of prestige during a campaign. Sadly, I think it's massively outclassed by the power 4 play, but that does cost a lot more points...
      There will be parts of the campaign with massive cities to take where it will generate thousands of prestige per mission... but once again, I think skilled players will be loaded anyway...
      It's not bad, it's not good, hence the C rating.

      @@TheEdmon I think Liberator is pretty good for the base game. But for 2 points it's just not worth it in the GC. In my current SCW run I'm toying around with inefficient supply and Panzer General - and I think I wouldn't pick any of those on the next run. Trying to keep things interesting as power 4 is pretty cheesy, so I just took master of blitzkrieg and deadly grasp out of the 4.
