I saw that this video was almost an hour long and figured I'd watch it in 2 or so parts. But as usual with MLiG videos, I ended up easily watching the whole thing in one go.
Ninja Saviors is how reboots of great games should be done. Love seeing games I wasn't gonna pay for be redone in such a great way. And it came with a manual, in 2019! Splatterhouse reboots next please!

It's called an opinion, which he's allowed to have, and I'll admit that I didn't quite get into "Donkey Kong Country Returns" myself due to the fact that the Tiki villains featured in the game were just not as appealing as the Kremlings from the original games, though the Snowmads came pretty close to being suitable replacements for the Kremlings.
Good games for today's standards, bit not even close as good as the SNES trilogy.
To be fair, he never said they were mediocre or bad, just that they were different in design from the Snes games...which is true. They're both fantastic in their own style
That guy is awful. His comments on Bloodstained made me facepalm. No offense but that game is garbage. To compare it to SOTN, just ugh.
Nothing quite like sitting down to an almost feature-length episode of some great games with some of the best presentation out there. Outstanding video, another reminder of just how much we all love games both new and old. Here's to another year of MLIG!

Yeah I concede that Donkey Kong Country on the SNES wasn't all about the graphics. It was about a barrel. Then a barrel and a wasp. Then a barrel that moves, and a wasp. And then, wait for it, a barrel and two wasps, two wasps that move! Ooh the inventiveness, the variety, the sheer ingenuity of it all...
I was a kid when they came out and I loved them. But even then I knew that Yoshi's Island had more to it than all three put together.

Thanks a lot for this video topic, by the way. As someone who isn't particularly concerned with the latest and greatest releases considering how many older quality games I haven't played, lists like these make a LOT more sense.

32:36 Not sure what you mean here, the Z80 processor on the Genesis isn't the main CPU, it mostly is in charge of controlling the audio hardware and other things, the main CPU is a Motorola 68000.

I've had ape escape since I was a kid when me and my brother got a playstation for Christmas and I 1000% agree about everything you said about it. It is an amazing game!
P.S. thinking about getting ape escape as has made me realize how much I miss just getting a random game as a kid with no expectations. Like I have no idea why my parents got me ape escape but I am certainly glad they did.
P.S.S the space mini game is a fantastic twin stick shot that me and my family put a lot of time into

Back in the 90s, Hellfire was probably my favourite shoot em up on my Megadrive. Excellent game.
On the arcades, I spent a lot of time and coins on Forgotten Worlds and SideArms arcades.
2019 really was a good year for Megadrive fans
Coury had me with the Spider-Man man bit.. I was jumping to the comments to say something like "Dude!.. Don't give up on it!! You need to give it more time before moving on to something else." Haha. I actually felt a bit underwhelmed and a little frustrated with the fighting until I got the hang of it and then WOW.. it became a blast pulling off some of those chained moves. And of course the swinging around the city is such a joy. It reminded me of my first time playing Spider-Man 2 on the Xbox, only even more so.
I also played Mad Max on the PS4 for the first time in 2019. It's another game I really enjoyed. I must have put 80 hours into it! Finishing all of the side quests, races, lootings, and so on.

[Try4ce] Heck yeah! The music took a while to grow on me, but I really like it now too. It's so different from what you hear in a platformer of that era normally, so I wasn't sure what to think of it at first, but it really has a great energy to it. I think it was the first time the composer did a video game.
@@mylifeingaming The OST of Ape Escape has similar wibes with his álbum called Sumo Jungle GRANDEUR in my opinion. It was the 90s i think jajaj like the músic of Ridge Racer Type 4.

17:05 For me, on the other hand, Lumines was one of the only real-time puzzle games that ended up feeling intuitive to a point where I would be building those shapes in my mind whenever I was away from the game. Woof. I guess I need to check out Tetris Effect sooner rather than later.

Great stuff as always guys! Also, surprised that you don't like Donkey Kong: Tropical Freeze that much. It's great and on the level with the originals imo.
[Try4ce] I like Tropical Freeze's aesthetics, but I just cannot enjoy the mechanics in the Retro Studios DKC games. They are so totally different from the SNES games, which played a big part in formulating my concept of what perfect platforming is. I'm usually open to differences in series, but that's just one case where I cannot adapt to how wrong it feels to me.
Lol I am honestly SO excited to play thru the Resident Evil 2 Remake, but am waiting til I get my new Samsung 4KTV set up to do so. Just got myself a PS4 Pro as well to enjoy the new 4K experience. The original had one of the most frightening experiences I've ever had in a game, and that was the long quiet hallway where the mutant Dogs jump thru the windows at you. It scared the HELL out of me the first time I played thru the game back in the day!
