You don't always have to go to the Emergency Room if you are having an episode of AFib.
As long as you're not having severe shortness of breath, chest pain or dizzy spells or getting close to passing out, you may be able to stay at home. But guidance from your physician is always important. If you have one of those warning signs you should go to the hospital
For most patients, the episode can be managed at home.

I find that a good cough always puts my heart back into sinus rhythm after I feel it missing beats. A bit like an inbuilt defibrillator! Worth a try!

Thank you....I am recently diagnosed with this condition and find this helpful. I think the best thing to do is to drink water and lie on your bed on your back..pillow under your knees. And good luck to fellow sufferers. B.
