  • Start of fall tillage 2019. It was an extremely wet year, so the 2-135 pulls a smaller plow to help deal with the muddy conditions. The mud does get him stuck once. (sorry I couldn’t get the actual pull on video, not enough hands)

      It’s a small operation, in the peak when there were milk cows 400 some acres. Now, getting into the final years (city is closing in) less than 100.

    Fill me in. What's the benefit of duals on one side if the power takes path of least resistance and spins the single? No diff lock on them?

    • @crazydave4455
      @crazydave4455  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      South Sask Farmer the single wheel in the furrow has more traction, (usually, unless it’s a muddy mess) due to the tractor being tilted and shifting it’s weight to the furrow side and having fresh earth to grip instead of the slippage on the stalk residue. The dual can help put weight and grip on the land side. Plus if it’s a tillage tractor that usually has duals, it’s easier to take off one off instead of two. They plow fine with singles. This model White has diff lock. It helps to get out of a sticky situation, but you can’t steer it. You can see it jump around when the additional pass the muddy spot is made.

    • @crazydave4455
      @crazydave4455  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Brian Patrick Some of the smaller farms around here still do, it is nice to get the residue buried in the fall, in case you get an unseasonably wet year. (Like 2019) Seems to dry out faster in the spring. This last year at two separate auctions, I saw 5 and 6 bottom plows bring 100 dollars. So there is little to no demand for them.

      Ploughing still has it’s place, especially here in the UK where it’s often too wet for non-inversion tillage.

  • @johnmiller4617
    @johnmiller4617 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Way too wet to plow. Soil compaction. Try strip till. Lots of power for only a four bottom plow. Years ago I pulled a four bottom plow with a 65 horsepower Allis 185. Quit plowing years ago. Poor soil stewardship.
