A buddy of mine in college got arrested for trying to sell a kilo of coke to an FBI agent. He was sent to federal prison in West Virginia for an "indeterminate sentence." When he got out, they sent him to a half-way house...in Miami, Florida. When he called to tell me, I said "Half way to where...Colombia?!"

yeah Bob Odenkirk he knew Chris Farley back in Chicago & he helped Chris develop the whole Matt Foley motivational speaker persona & they brought it over to SNL with them, truly hilarious stuff.. so many great moments with Chris for us back in the 90s..
I didn't know that about Bob?? Very cool!! I loved Chris Farley and Bob is amazing in Better Call Saul and Bob was INCREDIBLE in the movie Nobody!!
@@jasonmacneil2256Bob wrote it entirely while they both were at second city in Chicago when that place was stacked like a farm club with unreal talent that ended up at SNL. Voice is from his hometown pastor /buddy growing up. Bob just wrote it.

What I rarely read is that Farley decided to wait until the live show to fall on the coffee table. No one had any idea he was going to do this during the show. If you look at Spade's reaction when it happens you can see the shock. One of the things production hated was going off script, but Farley's takes were so wonderful and "must see" that you just had to let him go.
And spade and Applegate couldn't even look at him because they were laughing

Ed O'Neil is actually a Shakespearean trained actor who was told that because of his features he would never go over with the Elizabethan audiences. This led him to audition for a sitcom on Fox TV as a one-off shot in the dark.
