I get that Seagal is garbage, but how was this ever supposed to be funny? I mean this whole script sucks. As far as i can tell, the dad was supposed to alternate between being both Mr perfect nice dad, and a psychopath, but maybe it was all and act...maybe.
Consider if the dad was extremely jovial and family committed the whole time, but has a secret dark side he never shows his family. When they aren't around he could be hostile, intimidating, or overly protective... until the family walks back in.
I mean the skit is very below average but an even decent comedic actor could do SOMETHING with it. Segal just played himself. When has he ever NOT played himself in anything?
@@Neceros exactly. I believe this particular episode potentially could improve if Segal simply kicked Farley's ass while the family is absent. I lasted one minute and went immediately to the comments. No disrespect to Chris or SNL legend Jan Hooks.
I feel sorry for those in the audience. Imagine being there for the first time, looking forward to see the sketches acted out live and in person... Only to see Seagal being the worst host ever.
I don't know why he was invited to begin with
Cause he was kinda big in the early 90s
😂😂😂
Imagine being able to say you saw the worst host. The feel bad for the Rhonda rousey audience.
Well, it was a pretty historic episode, even if it was for all the wrong reasons. So they can at least say they were apart of history.
Doug still lives in a van down by the river. He'll graduate one day, in that big graduation in the sky...
Steven seagal is the only man who could turn a 6 minute sketch into and half hour one.
Would have been funny if Seagal was only serious around his family in order to gain respect around the house, but secretly nice to Farley, even asking him for a smoke too, then goes back to being a hardass when his family is around. Farleys character would be so confused. Lol
Would have been better
Then he would be a weak father figure
@@Pawnwarschess And bad for his tough guy image...."no dice, Lorne".
That was probably the original concept of the sketch.
This was likely the idea, having him go from that rock solid, confrontational father to a friendly and grandma-like chatty guy when nobody's looking would feel accurate and more amusing, but this dude had to ruin even that beacuse of his ego.
what's funny is that Seagal is now about as big/fat as what Farley is here.
Imaging trying to find a big/fat body double to do absolutely nothing in his straight to the $5 bin videos.
@Black Ninja I stand corrected
Chris was big but he was agile for his size.
@@tobyjohn4682 He really was, wasn't he?
Yea but fat worked for Farley cuz he made it funny, Segal just looks old, worn out and bloated
Even during a crappy sketch Farley still makes it hilarious! 😂
Not even Farley could save this sketch
Farley worked his ass off to save it.
@@SnowyNightFlyerfor real lol
Farley was thinking "God, I need a bottle of whiskey and a line of heroin after working with this cunt"😂
I hardly think that seagal touched humour in his life
Well, the book was funny. LoL, oh wait, that is not Steven, hes just a... hard cover.
He only touched women against their wish
He not a joking man....this man is very serious
Ever seen him run?
Gold.
It takes some special skills to make a Chris Farley sketch dull. Steven Seagal has hose skills.
The vast emptiness of silence had more noise than this sketch.
seagal reminded the entire studio audience about every awkward conversation they have ever had with an adult when they were a teen
The daughter was his hostage… couldn’t wait to get out of that house!
I get that Seagal is garbage, but how was this ever supposed to be funny? I mean this whole script sucks.
As far as i can tell, the dad was supposed to alternate between being both Mr perfect nice dad, and a psychopath, but maybe it was all and act...maybe.
Good acting, facial expressions, comedic timing, etc. Not just sitting right there reading a script.
@PhoneWalletKeys Don’t snl actors co-write scripts? I thought they did have impact on the material.
@@Neceros exactly. I believe this particular episode potentially could improve if Segal simply kicked Farley's ass while the family is absent. Ironically, Segals forte is kicking ass while being completely serious while Farley's forte is to get his ass kicked, fall down, stand up, make face turn red. Simple but it works. Instead, they're both sitting in this couch doing none of that. It's like having two race cars parked in a garage going nowhere.
Seagal now does most of his scenes sitting as a Sniper....eating spaghetti.
Well that was uncomfortable.
Man why did we have to lose Chris Farley but Seagal is still alive and kicking?
Cause Seagal isn't over weight, works out, and doesn't smoke crack and meth, what are you fucking stupid
Kicking might not be the best description.
Seagal is definitely overweight, and doesnt look like works out too much these days. Can you imagine what his ego would be like on Meth, or crack? He's terrible.
@@joshuateubanks4302 he obviously does a lot of cocaine, however.
I dunno. No coke I've ever seen results in low activity, incomprehensible speech, and an ability to rec9gnize and perform wretchedly horrible screenplays.
It's my mission in life to show Steven the comments section for any video with him in it.
I didn't think anyone could suck the life out of a Chris Farley sketch but here it is. The word banal comes to mind. I would have iked to see Phil Hartman on this one instead of Seagal.
It has to be super frustrating to be a comedic actor and be placed in a situation where you are literally disarmed from performing your craft.
You can tell Farley hated him. No chemistry at all between them
Wow good point!!!
Hard to have chemistry with a no talent, but somehow, arrogant piece of wood (Seagal).
Because whispering in sketches is just so helpful and mysterious.
I feel bad for anyone having to do sketch with Segal.
I feel bad for anyone who has to work with Seagal.
I remember seeing this when it first aired. I just remember loving how funny Chris is, and just adoring him.
Now I know what a slow painful death feels like !
😆😆😆😆😆😆😆
Rumour has it he is still on set at SNL waiting for the laughs
🤣🤣🤣
"Wish my mom looked as good as you. She's a sow."
"Well, I'm sure your mom is beautiful in her own way"
"No"
😂😂😂😂😂
This is probably the best performance Steven Segal has ever given. I can remember when you could walk into someone's house smoking a cigarette and no one thought about it.
I hear crickets when seagull speaks.
as soon as the "laugh" or "applause" sign went up, you know the crowd was like "huh? now?"
The crickets at the start had it right
1:04 Seagal missed the couch and almost sat on the arm of couch.
Yeah! No one noticed that lol
Man, before I watched this sketch, I read other people’s comments and watched other videos of people saying how Steven Seagal was the worst and most dislikable host that SNL ever had. And, after watching, this sketch proves that.
Fun fact: Lorne Michaels didn’t have a single grey hair until this skit came along.
Hahaha so hilarious!!!! The best part is while they played the song and showed previews of other clips at the end...
I feel like the audience could have laughed at Seagulls lines, but Farley held this skit on his own. That line about him flunking got a good laugh
I feel this is in SNL training videos for cast members on how not to do a sketch.
Jan hooks is a genius. Very underrated performer.
She was great on 30 Rock
This skit was also near the end of her run on SNL. She deserved to go out much stronger than this.
Funniest thing about this skit is...........
THE COMMENTS. 🤣
Legit feels like he would actually attack anyone in that skit.
People remember this cast fondly but the show was a chore to sit through most of these years.
This video purports to be 6 minutes, 55 seconds, but I believe it is actually 80 minutes long.
Legend has it that this skit is still being filmed.
Holy shit Seagal made this so painful to watch. Yikes...
I'm so glad he was banned from SNL. He was a total prick to the cast members. He thought he was funnier than the cast members!!! Lol. Ironic that he's not funny at all, cuz he is a total joke.
@@kari7403 I can't find the entire episode but I've heard that it was a nightmare to watch and for the cast to work with him too.
Lorne Michaels has him as the single worst host of all time, what an honor!
Boy this one had all the energy of a baked hot pocket.
finally... I have been trying to find a Steven Seagal sketch forever! I wanted to find out why they hate him so much at SNL.
Not only at SNL but all over the world. The man ooozes replusion.
So...you get it NOW, right??? LOL
I thought the copy guy skit was funny
Wasn't that bad....
@@ixparadimeix92 _ I didn't think it was that bad a Sketch. See my earlier comment. I guess there was some uncomfortablity with Steven Seagal. among the Cast. Seagal was a ot slimmer back then.
The irony is, Segal ended up way bigger than Farley. Not influential but fat! Chris is a genius!
You can tell it's funny because of all the laughter.
The actor playing the mother did a great job.
Jan Hooks might be the most talented woman ever to do SNL.
God damn seagull made that an incredibly awkward, slow developing scene and just sucked the joy from chris and everyone involved.
