Great review Roman! I love that the 2025 Jetta comes standard with blind spot monitoring in all trims! The 2025 Toyota Corolla is more expensive (especially with the dealer markup & pre-installed accessories common with new Corollas)and yet it does not come standard with blind spot monitoring or push button start. VW is also offering $1000 customer cash in my area on new 2025 Jettas plus an additional $2000 dealer discount which makes them even cheaper! In my area of Texas, a new 2025 Jetta is $5000 cheaper than a new 2025 Corolla!
Not to mention the warranty is shorter on the Toyota. The wheels are steel with a cap. I recently test drove the ‘25 Corolla and it was so basic and underwhelming compared to the VW. It does the job, but for the price you feel shorted out. You could argue resell value, but it comes down to personal preferences. I’m leasing, so I can choose to keep it or move on with the VW.
@@DurataurIf you’re buying a Toyota looking to keep it until the wheels fall off, why do you care about resale value? If you’re gonna drive it until it’s no longer operable and that’s the main reason you’re willing to spend more on it, no point caring about how much it’ll sell for if you don’t intend to sell it and keep it until 300k+ miles. Will a Corolla outlast a Jetta? Most definitely. The question is how long it’ll take to make back that 5k in saved costs from gas, repairs, maintenance, and perhaps other issues.
Good review. Just bought a 2025 a couple weeks ago. I purchased a white (all they had) Sport trim example. Traded in a 2017 Golf Alltrack S. Comparing the 2 models, as with life, you gain some and lose some. Gained: all LED front lamps, lit grille and headlamps, ACC and the hardware/software that it supports (collision warning, etc), blind spot monitor, all electronic instrument cluster, auto ac. Lost: leatherette seats, cornering/fog lamps, hood struts, LED interior lamps, power driver's seat, leather wheel. What you said about car costs so high is spot on. As usual there are other costs to cars after the MSRP. I missed the higher trims with the panoramic sunroofs because of that, but mechanics tell me to stay away from them lol. Overall very satisfied with the purchase, and enjoying going about 50% further per tank.
Lots of jettas ive driven to 200-300k zero problems, in my 30 yrs of driving. Great cars. Oil change n goood gas last forever.. New ones great MPG and good driveability/engineering
@@Lisbonese The B58 inline six and MT on the bimmer are worlds better then VW's. VW's just have a high cost of ownership. Not worth the headache. I've owned VW's before. Never again.
@@Lisbonese Yeah my first three cars were VW's. I'm sure this jetta handles great and the MT would be a blast. But the brand has burned me pretty bad in the past. Cost of ownership is just too high compared to other brands for my taste. I'd have to have a 10 year 100K mile bumper to bumper warranty before I'd even consider one.
Thank you Roman. I had a older Jetta it was great until the head gasket failed and then transmission issues. I dont think i would buy another vw. I loved the Touareg you had that was a beast. Thanks again Happy Holidays
Typical VW they are fun until they break. And they always break in bad ways. Junkers. Reason they are going down the tubes and closing plants everywhere in the world is because people avoid the brand like the plague. They get Zero repeat business because owners always get burned.
But would you trust it as far as cost of ownership? My experience as with many others is to avoid like the plague. Its why VW is in dire financial stress. Perception is killing their brand. They made crappy cars for far too long. Most people just moved to other brands. Today the best brands are Mazda and Subaru as far as quality from Japan and BMW if you want to buy German. Korean cars went to the crapper with horrible build quality on their motors. Same with most domestic brands.
@@HiPlains1 Subarus are thin cans with engines that don't last 50K miles. Cannot even compare with VW which is a brand known worlwide for their longevity. Have it down to this and a Mazda 3 2.5 S Preferred. I think the non-turbo Mazda is gonna pull it out. I have a 15 Jetta S no turbo and thing has been a tank. Always have a soft spot for VW
Well, I thought NATHAN was the VW lover. Roman, nice review. Unless you received sponsorship money, the glasses aren’t necessary. Don’t hate it and I appreciate it, but can take it or leave it. Nice quicky review, y’all.
Vws new marketing material "trust me it's a 2025". And fun fact, everything you record say and do is owned by meta when you use those glasses. And once you turn the AI thing on it's always listening even if you aren't recording.
I'm leasing one of these (SEL model) and overall I'm happy with the vehicle. The dashboard has a premium look, the acceleration is actually very good (especially passing on the highway), and the gas mileage is amazing with over 30 MPG city. That being said, the quality of the backup camera is awful and the back door interior quality is poor. I'd rather have back doors with a premium soft touch feel than heated rear seats that no one will use. It also lacks rear vents in the center console which should come with a $30,000 car.
The new 2025 design looks great. I'm sure it drives well. On the downside, there's far too much gloss black inside for my taste, especially all over the touch points. The haptic climate control is a horrendous idea as well. I'm also leary of the reliability in general.
I’m not hating, but why has the VW Jetta looked pretty much the same on the outside for the last 13 years? 2012 Jettas looked pretty close to the same as this. Just so incredibly boring too. They were boring then, and they’re boring now.

I love the Jetta but it has to be the GLI since it’s the last one with a manual transmission option.
BMW still offers a manual with the M3 sedan. I'd pay more for that. VW's are junkers.

Thanks for the feedback!
Don't care for the infotainment console or haptic sliders, but the rest looks great.
Pound for pound great value for money. Fun to drive too
Shouldn't be buying vehicles by the pound. Americans love that and they snap up big stupid SUVs.
A great car to lease. A lot of fun for 36 months.
Which is exactly what I'm doing!
POV cam was nice add but don't overdo. Nice to see new stuff.🎉🎉
Thanks!
Lots of value here.
The new Jetta with all the excitement of a warm milkshake.
Good review, just wish you didn’t use split screen with the glasses. It was annoying to watch. Show one view or the other - not both at the same time.
We hear you, thanks for the feedback.
I prefer the splitscreen, that way aren't forced into just the piv.
I liked the split screen. A new visual perspective from TFL.
Buttons everywhere, nice, VW did a 180, at least with these cars. Still a few haptic, but more buttons especially on the steering wheel.

They need to bring back the diesel. We need that 60 mpg motor that will go 300k if you take care of it.
Loved my 2000 Jetta TDI, long before diesel-gate.
The new 2025 VW Vetta's front end is more Toyota Camry...

Aged really well compared to most other models in this segment.
They always go for natural evolution vs radical change. Probably the reason why their cars age so well.
