I won't recognize it unless the rear bumper is ripped off, the registration is out of date, and you have at least three different tires on the vehicle. Some conspicuous scratches and dents in the front would be helpful as well
I’ve often wondered that as well. Comes to find out Nissan offers more financing to more people, including people that usually can’t get financing so that’s why you see people with the cars beat up. Kudos to Nissan for helping people though.
Nissan Altima is a great value. CVt, change the oil every 30k, don’t drive it like you stole it. Moms has 180k same CVt. CVTs actually are great for a relaxing drive. Smooth and no noise, unless you floor it which most people don’t.
Our 2022 SV AWD gets 36mpg summer mixed driving, with 16 gal tank you have 500+ mile range after fill-up. I had extra set of steelies from our 2011Altima ( daughter drives the old one still, it's at 190K on original CVT ! ). Mounted 215/65R16 Blizzak WS90 all around & this car is just wonderful in midwest or mountain snow driving. 2 years ago drove up to A-Basin from Loveland with snow covered road - just tracks like on rails, & don't need turbo boost in those conditions
2019 Altima Sr 2wd here and the car is awesome. I haven't had the luxury of driving high performance cars so this actually is the sportiest car I've ever owned. It gets great gas mileage at 33mpg combined from my use. Still looks and feels brand new. I do make sure to service my cvt every 30k miles and stay on top of oil changes and other usual maintenance and it has paid off. The CVT gets such a bad rep and maybe rightfully so with previous generations that didn't hold up but these 6th generation versions seem very well built. Benefits of the CVT beside better average gas mileage is also the smooth feel and it's also very quiet with little vibration around town. The car has enough get up and go to get you a traffic ticket quite quickly especially since it handles it's speed almost too well. On the highway you look down and are surprised to see the speed you're going at. That perhaps contributes to the big altima energy thing.
I love this car, i bought sr 2024 for 26k, 5k off msrp and for that price no one can beat it. I get cvt hate but cmon guys, haven’t heard any bad stuff about cvt since 2018.
God I feel old. I can remember when the features on this car were considered luxury items. My current car has no touch screen, Power front windows, A/C, tilt steering, glass sunroof, and cruise control. This is the top trim spec for my car.
Subaru has been proving this for decades lol. That said, credit to Nissan for not only still producing a sedan lineup, but for also giving the AWD option to those who want it!
Much appreciate you making this snowy vid. do think it's a well balanced car ... and my Nissan dealers do offer enough discounts to put this into a civic price range, although wish they coupled that more powerful motor with AWD .. for the SR models at least
The CVTs are great in terms of changing gear ratios, but for Nissan, they need to put a lifetime warranty on those CVTs. I had a 2014 Sentra with a CVT. When it hit 120000 miles it started to fail, and I watched it and took care of it like a baby, but it still failed - I couldn’t accelerate past 45mph. The car would jerk and rpms would fluctuate like crazy. If they don’t offer a lifetime warranty, you can try CarShield or Endurance to have some kind of warranty. My uncle says that they are great at covering the cost of repairs. I liked my Nissan, because it was easy to work on. Even I could do some repairs. I had it for 8 years, but with dumbasses driving around, my car got scratched and hit 2 times causing $8000+ in repairs. Later it began to be a pain in the rear, because it would never stop breaking. No matter how many times I patched it up, It would break non stop. And finally the transmission broke - I got a repair estimate of $6137.37 to have it replaced. I just decided to get rid of it. I got myself a Mazda Cx -5. Has a little more pep and drives great. But for my sake, I will get CarShield or Endurance since it’s a used car. But even a used compact SUV it’s like $21000 and it’s a 7 year old vehicle. The prices are absolutely crazy right now. But for Nissan, they need to rethink things and not give in to the latest bullshit hype of small 3 to 4 cylinder turbo engines and build quality products. I never thought that I will have to leave my Nissan in the dust - sell it. I liked that car so much, it was great on gas and acceleration was very smooth like butter. But at 10 years of age it decided to completely break down, and I had no choice. What I can give kudos to Nissan for, is that some models are very easy to work on, and doesn’t cost a fortune to fix. If Nissan can keep up the tradition like Honda where everything is easily accessible mechanically, and fix the mechanical problems that plague their vehicles, they might still survive, but if they continue on the same path, they will be done for.
I have a 2010 Altima now with almost 140,000 miles .. It is a Coupe .. I prefer the coupes over the sedans .. But from 2020 onward the Altimas are amazingly smooth and the CVT are great ..
A lifetime warranty on the CVT would be the final nail in the coffin for Nissan. They reportedly have 12-14 more months of life...a lifetime warranty would end it all immediately.
Tommi my coworker has had a few Altimas now and they get stupid fuel economy, he runs a full tank and lasts him 2 weeks which works out to near 450 miles to a tank, his is FWD and he doesn't really drive much over the speed limit, he is looking into a new 2024 or 2025 Altima AWD here in Canada, the price is the same for either model year and they come with more equipment than the one you just drove, heated front and rear seats and steering wheel and command start and pricing is similar to the US pricing$34,600.00 that is a bargain for an AWD car here in Canada with taxes and fees this car is a drive away under $40k, or 600/month for 84 months, not bad,👍
This could be a very appealing choice if it wasn’t saddled with that deal-breaker CVT. Had a ‘02 3.5SE with 5sp manual and that car was a blast for 15 years and 200k. Doubting this new one could do same.
For the price you can purchase the Subaru Legacy Sport. 80 more horses and a better AWD system for starters. Just too bad this is the last year in production.
This is what I kept saying. Most of the people buying SUVs do not need SUVs at all. This car proves it in terms of snow capabilities. I love the Altima, just hate the 2L VC turbo engine. This particular car I actually really like because it doesn’t have that engine 😂 However, I highly recommended SV premium or higher because you don’t get the 8 inch screen and instead get a 12.3 inch with wireless CarPlay and whatnot.
My sister had an Altima AWD and the AWD system never worked. She couldn't get out of her driveway because the front wheels were spinning on the ice, and the back would never kick in.
@@SuperWooba They definitely do. Lift it off the ground just a bit and hit the gas for 10 seconds. See if it activates using software through the OBDII.
Styling looks like an enlarged previous generation Sentra, especially on the front. The last generation Sentra was a good looking compact car, but I think it makes this Altima look outdated even though it's technically more modern.
Are they not allowed to say they don't like a vehicle. What's with the " maybe not as my primary vehicle"? What's wrong with just saying it's not for me?
Maxima used to be their competitor to the Camry. Strange that it is gone. Strange that the Leaf starting price is more than the Altima. I liked the Altima when it had a standard transmission.
Does it come with 4 transmissions because it will need one every 20k miles. Nissan just refuses to get rid of the CVT that has bankrupted the company and now most likely it won’t survive another 12 months
You don't even need AWD for the snow... VW Fox beater with dedicated winter tires took many people any place they needed.. throw on some decent aux PIAA lights ... Tires are still the biggest force multiplier in winter driving. IMO. I have watched a Posi-Traction rwd pickup best a 4x4 in the Snow because tires and weight..
Sedans like this altima are losing popularity because they keep trying to make them sporty. Low to the ground with no clearance makes them bottom out on every small pothole. And those 20 inch rims with low profile tires puncture very easily. Thus the popularity of suvs and pickups.
You can get a bare bone SR now since they cut the VC Turbo .. I feel like they should have just stuck to 2 trims the S and SR like they did with the coupe .. Making the SR only come with the VC Turbo and the S can be basic or optioned out
Nissan? Nothing like the French buying a failing Japanese brand. Yeah, that will work out great. Owned one Maxima years ago. Transmission failed 2200 miles after the warranty expired. 6 weeks and $4000 later I get it back. And quickly traded for a Honda. I'll pass. If I want to drive a Nissan, I will get a cheap weekly rate at Budget or Enterprise.
But it was your fault for buying one and it was your fault for not changing the fluids and it was your fault for not letting the dealers drain and replace those fluids before signing on those dotted lines
Love seeing more of Jen. She’s a great addition. Very refreshing to have a woman’s point of view. She’s also cute as a button. Sue me, I commented on her looks.
That climate system is awful. In modern cars you set the temperature and forget it. The infotainment looks like someone stuck on a used Android tablet. Really makes me question the rest of the review.
Thank god it has physical buttons...182 horsepower for a vehicle this heavy is insane good lord. Another thing theres no reason this should have low profile tires too, no heated seats for a vehicle of this decade is inexcusable
Nice to see Altima get some love. I really like that blue and those wheels. This is a hidden gem.
It looks like Nissan copied Subaru on that color combo to me.
@ And it works.
I won't recognize it unless the rear bumper is ripped off, the registration is out of date, and you have at least three different tires on the vehicle. Some conspicuous scratches and dents in the front would be helpful as well

Big Altima Energy
Nissan also gifts a carton of Newports with each new Altima. 🤷
Hahahahaha yea right !!!
I own a 2019 altima sv...awesome car..moonroof ..heated seats all wheel drive all modern...second nissan and two of the best cars ive had

Most people do floor it though. Every single stoplight I see low end econoboxes flying off the line.
@@BicBappy-u9oyou got that right. You will see a basic corolla flying from stop light, drivers acting they have a v8 engine under the hood

It's a nice looking vehicle and I like the simple interior only problem is that CVT that's a deal-breaker for me.
The CVT is a deal breaker for many of us. I wish Nissan would listen. It's a junk transmission.
I had a 2020 model SR and the CVT seemed to work a lot better in sport mode
