    I had them all including the e39 m5 (which was very nice). but the one that gave, gives me still the most pleasure and the one I kept was the 1M. Super fun, agile and fast. has the feeling of connectivity to the road and it also has a bit modern feel in terms of media and look.

      I've recently had a 1M, and a E39 M5 too long term, driven a e90 M3, and now own a E46 M3. I agree with the reviewer - the E46 M3 is just right. However, always appreciate we all like things for different reasons.

      @@blairheaton9042 haha interesting , I started with an e46 m3 , good choice btw. Super nice ride, almost perfect but for me a bit underpowered. If you can add about 50hp+ would be just right

      @@dee1251that was my same experience with e46m, over the years i’ve stuck with the e92m, it just hits all the sweet spots for me. i just wish it was 200lbs lighter.

    • @dreww_e46
      @dreww_e46 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nickt5978 Honestly, thats pretty achievable if the car is stock. Lighter wheels, seats (pole positions save 62 lbs), titanium exhaust, and carbon hood/trunk. Would get you somewhat close to that 200lb mark while still being a good daily. But obviously very expensive to do that.

      To me and I’m sure I’m not alone, the 1M is the real return of a modern m3 e36, the philosophy behind it being taking the smallest production car and putting the biggest engine for its time … the 1M checked those boxes perfectly in my opinion

  • @nickt5978
    @nickt5978 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    as someone whose owned a variation of all these at some point the e92 is still my absolute favorite, and all of it is that engine it’s the most magnificent, smooth and enjoyable experience i’ve had driving a car. paired with a manual and that diff with proper suspension like kw’s it makes the car feel alive. Granted i didn’t have a 1m but i did have a 135i with all m3 subframe components including a lsd, i felt the car was too tail happy for the road and just over all too fast to enjoy on the roads i live near. The e46 was almost perfect all it needed was a little more torque. as much as i love revving it out by the time your in the powerband you have to slow down it would’ve benefited highly from shorter gearing but still a brilliantly balanced and fast chassis in factory form. this is a great video and this deserves more veiws.

    Nice Film!
    I'm curious what rubber (and how old it was) was on the 1M - the grip levels did look extraordinarily low in this video, especially considering it only has stock power. I run 600hp in my 1M and my car is wayyyyyy more planted and controllable than what I just watched.
    Also, there was an official E82 M car project - it was called the 128tii concept, and featured a turbo 2.0L engine. That project never saw the light of day though - until recently when BMW resurrected the nameplate for their Mini-derived FWD 1 series.

    • @dee1251
      @dee1251 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      600?? thats alot. my is stock , but I wouldn't mind getting some more power , I'm thinking around 420-470 should be fine for the size and street. I got 4s on my and noticed a diff in comparison to the original ss. What would you recommend to get it to the 420-470 hp? i have mhd but haven't used it yet.

    • @BMW1M
      @BMW1M ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dee1251 If you are talking crank HP, MHD stage 2+ will get you to the lower end of that power range, along with a good intercooler and downpipes.
      If that’s power at the wheels though, you will need hybrid turbos.

    • @dee1251
      @dee1251 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @BMW1M
      @BMW1M ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@dee1251 I would recommend Wagner or VRSF for the intercooler and downpipes, and Evolution Racewerks or VRSF for the chargepipe.

    It wasn’t even naturally aspirated, wrt the 1M? Well, there IS a naturally aspirated version, and I own one. It’s a 128i, and it has the same 6, naturally aspirated, as is found in the 1M. Mine is a stripper, iDrive delete, with only 3 options, 18” wheels, leather and metallic paint. My car also has the 6-speed manual transmission. She is said to be the most like the ORIGINAL M-car, of any modern BMW. The same naturally aspirated drivetrain was used in the 1, 3 and 5-series cars, so the 128i, being the smallest and lightest version, is also the fastest.

    Professional quality motoring journalist content, it felt like I was watching a video produced by top gear or fifth gear but better, you present as a knowledgeable car enthusiast. Keep up the amazing work, I'm sure you will rival the best TH-camrs out there with videos like this. Best of luck to you!

    The e92 and e46 m3 are my two favourites, however the reliability on the e92 is not great and its upkeep is considerably higher than the e46 m3. Which is why when I get one, it’ll be the e46.

    I have had E36 (USA Version), E46 M3 and M Coupe (Clownshoe). The most fun and reliable performance was the E36 version. Lightweight, smooth shifting and low maintenance cost. The E46 M3 is faster but also heavier. All around great cars though before all the computers and safety features took over.
