proportion or whatever it basically have hop up 3 series engine n54 which make power around 1500-5000 and loses power from there so reving to redline is pointless isnt that what the e30 about lenient power delevery and if torque is what you want why dont go buy a 135i and tuned it or amg merc and the sound is crap compare to all the m3s but im sorry the m3 is more of an m car even thou its biger unique engine high reeving lenient power delivery balance

I've owned a M3, and my household has a 1M. You know what they're both great cars. Loved the V8 on the M3, but you know what I don't love? Its the DCT gearbox, its not that great for day to day driving. The 1M is a great car, it handles great, and its alot of fun. But in 2015? That car is a little outdated, the M235i surprisingly is a better day to day car by far, and its just as fast.
+den525 thats because the 235 is meant to be a day-to-day car, & the 1M a high-performance M car. they're only similar on paper- drive them back to back & you'll never want to drive a 235 again, i promise!
May be the 1M is not so special, but I bet it is a future classic with this massive rear fenders, limited production numbers and also its pureness... the M3 (E92) is a bit more on a posh side...

No rest for the wicked uhh...care to explain why? even though they are softer and I guess a bit less fun to drive than in the past, they are better in all other ways than older BMW's...best transmission in the world, more power, better MPG, nicer interiors with more space, better tech, much improved idrive...and you get 4 years of free servicing
1:01 This isn't the most powerful straight six M-car. Have you forgotten the E46 M3 CSL? That has 360hp without turbos and is THE best M-car ever made according to many people.
10 years later and the 1M is proving to be one of the most valuable collectables and a true classic from that era while the M3 is being remember as being hideous with bad rod bearings
Onto my second e92 m3 now. First one being a manual and this one being a DCT, it's a truly brilliant car. Completely faultless (assuming you can afford to run it) :)

There are 2 things why I would want to buy the e92 M3 over the 1M.......The looks are much better & the engine is a lot better 4.0 na V8...M3 for me :)

i'm not talking about abs and tc, those are obviously needet. I'm talking about things like the big bord computer with idrive, satellite navigation, cruise control, heated seats and all this stuff that adds weight which you don't want in a sports car.

what are the disadvantages of forced induction? heat? less exciting sound? this turbo setup gives it a shitton of torque at a very low rpm, and a very smooth and flat power band. IMO the advantages overcome the disadvantages. I'd prefer the 1M over an M3 but the 1M is so expensive because it's a limited edition
I haven't driven either however, from what you guys say In this review - the 1M could be used as a daily in a city with tight roads low down torgue , where as the E92 M3 is more your suburbia/ country daily or weekend driver . For me it's the M3 all day every day
i drove a 135i for a little over 3 years, 110k kms, swopped it for a 1M, arrived this summer 10k kms so far in it. few trackdays. its 5 seconds a lap quicker vs the 135i i had (with performance options). I also drove an m3 for a few hundred kms. its an absolute dream of a car. but in the real world, in average conditions - you can barely ever extract over 80% of the M3. you need too high revs to really make it go or sing. with the 1M being a twin turbo, the power is just always there. same fast.
been our Lexus gs460 has a power button, the only difference is that in ours it actually changes the fuel map and ups the response times. extra power , stiffens the suspension and the ESP and traction control back off a bit. pick it up BMW, don't just put buttons there for no reason!
I liked my E36 M3 MT5 (US though, so only 240hp), I loved my E46 M3 SMG-II (333hp) but I drive my E92 M3 DCT. For the 1.5y I had both the E46 and E92 ... I never drove the E46, cuz E92 was superior in every aspect ... I did notice that I did like the rear of the E46 better, and the sound was a bit more exciting, but E92 just handled so much better, even if it's heavy (2 heavy). The extra space in E92 is so nice, fit 4 without issue. And for long hauls, I cannot imagine a better car. 911 TS next

as i understand the power button in the m3 sharpens the throttle response and accelerator sensitivity, the M button basically does all the other things you have said well thats what ive read and seen on the reviews i.e fith gear with ex racing driver tiff needel ;-)

E92 M3 Is one of the best M3's ever made. That V8 is a masterpiece, as long as it's maintained properly. Same with the V10's. An era that will never be again, any car enthusiast should own something like that.

"powerful" is a general term that includes horsepower AND Torque. If you put those two together then you'd realize the 1-series M's motor does have more pulling power than the M3 CSL's engine. Why else is it 0.5 seconds quicker to 60mph?!?

It is easy to find 1/4 mile and 0-60 videos, but that was fun to watch and made the cars/drivers more real.

In the UK the S5 is an absolute bargain right now. They start at £14K, but you are right in terms of it looks to similar to a standard A5

The reason being that the M1 was a sports car legend from the late 70s while 3M produces Post-It notes and Scotch tape.
