I had the pleasure of seeing and hearing this fantastic concert. It took place in the Passionskirche in Berlin Kreuzberg. What a fanatstic location to experience these three extraordinary musicians! Berlin is one of the hottest jazz-cities these days!
Thanks for your comment. It's a really fantastic place, although not the best acoustically. But on the recording it all sounds really cool! Subscribe and stay tuned!
So you take one of the most important bassists in the history of music, pair him with a saxophonist who wasn’t even born when the bassist became a legend, then add a drummer who wasn’t even born when the saxophonist became a legend , and they collectively create music that is FRESH & AGELESS!!!! You can’t make this stuff up folks.
@ You may be right. But from what I remember, It was somewhere around 85-86 that I heard about this wiz kid (Potter) who was playing alto with Red Rodney. I remember hearing him and becoming instantly jealous. And I also admired him for his reverence/respect of Red Rodney. It was the norm at that time for “young lions” to get lucrative recording contracts without paying their dues. Chris seemed as though he thought that being under the tutelage of a master was more important than instant fame/fortune.
Marcus is truly one of the best drummers today! We also remember his great grandfather Roy Haynes (RIP) who was one of the best drummers in the history of jazz! Subscribe and stay tuned please
Our pleasure! Thanks for your comment! Marcus was incredible at this concert. We enjoyed the performance of this fantastic trio and could not imagine that in just a month Zakir Hussain would leave this world.. RIP Maestro Zakir🙏
Musicians without a doubt can't be compared directly 🙏 how do you separate Chris Potter from Ben Wendel, Mark Turner, Joshua Redman, Walter Smith III, Seamus Blake, Jure Pukl, Melissa Aldana, heck even Kamasi Washington has found his place in todays modern jazz scene (despite some glaring tuning issues, lol). My point being that the more you look, the more world class saxophonists you'll discover. No reason to label someone the best when there's so many great options 😊
Phenomenal! Your already high production standard continues to improve with every show. I couldn't figure out how you hid that rear angle of Marcus, had to pause the wide shot and zoom in to find it(!) And the drum miking/mixing... W O W. You can hear every tiny detail of Gilmore's superb performance. 👏👏👏
Watching Mr. Holland at 15:07 looking at Chris Potter blowing...pretty much says it all. Chris Potter is out of his F#$%king mind. I never thought there would be anybody that could compare to Michael Brecker (RIP). I was wrong. Chris Potter is absolutely amazing. He's a freak.
Today we are fortunate to enjoy the mastery of at least three great saxophonists: Chris Potter, Joshua Redman and Joe Lovano. They are my favorites today!❤️
This is awesome, but I feel like the saxophone is mixed too loudly; it already has a big midrange presence. I can't hear the tone of the drums and bass well enough (especially Marcus Gilmore's drums). This is an issue I've run into trying to listen to Brian Blade's drums. I guess it's just a trend with modern jazz recordings.

This is a truly fantastic trio! And at the same time, each of them is wonderful on their own!
Absolutely 🤗💯
I love, and share, your enthusiasm for this great trio!
But Potter wasn’t a “legend” in 1986 when Gilmore was born, fwiw

It's wonderful to see three different generations playing together.
Yes, indeed three wonderful masters of different generations performing beautiful music together! A stunning trio!
A beautiful set. Truly. Some of the most beautiful drums I have ever heard.
Marcus Gilmore is that guy.

@VictorVoytov you guys are great. Will be checking out other shows. Thank you very much.
The mix of joy and awe in the face of Dave as Chris is soloing is beautiful. He knows he's in the presence of an incredible gifting.
who else but your bandmate can appreciate your contribution to the music being created
The rhythmic sense mr Holland has is just too freakin solid.
He’s one of the best!
Thank you so much for bringing such beautiful music to us. It's a pity that Maestro Zakir couldn't make it, but Marcus Gilmore did such a great job.
Our pleasure! Thanks for your comment! Marcus was incredible at this concert. We enjoyed the performance of this fantastic trio and could not imagine that in just a month Zakir Hussain would leave this world..
RIP Maestro Zakir🙏
Chris Potter is without doubt the greatest saxophonist of our time. 🙏
I would add at least two more to this group of the greatest - Joshua Redman and Joe Lovano!
@ Yes indeed! 👍🏻
@@VictorVoytov What about Mark Turner, Mark Shim, and Melissa Aldana?
Without doubt? Really? Chico Freeman? David Murray?

He and the Drummer Gilmore are appropriating each other consistently. Boom to the Rhythm Section 🖤🖤
Chris potter is like if Brecker and Coltrane had a kid, truly a freak of nature in all ways

Wow! I noticed that Chris is playing a plastic mouthpiece and wow!!!! Any one know what that is??
Yes, I actually noticed this last fall.

¿que compas es la finding the light¿
I think this music is the right compass!

creo que es 7/8 mayormente basado en la clave rítmica (123-1234) pero encontre muchas variantes rítmicas validas dentro del 7/8
hey super !!!!! par contre comment faire pour pas avoir toutes ces pub pourries sans payer ????
Unfortunately... this is TH-cam's policy and we can't influence it in any way.

TH-cam is worth paying for no ads , cuz the best music is on here
Not bad sound, if you just used a Zoom H6 it would sound less digital.
Thanks for your comment!
We try to keep the quality of video/audio recording high. And such music is worth it.
chris playing hard rubber ????
surprisingly yes!
Please make some noise for Éric Clapton on the Bass
?😊
@ just thought he looks like Eric Clapton…a bit 😂
