  • We took Moose and Sherll for some cross country practice at Chilham. They had left the BE courses out from their event a few weeks ago, so there were lots of really nice jumps and combinations. Moose was absolutely super, jumping absolutely everything I put him to, including some absolutely huge fences (in my opinion) from the BE100, 105, and Novice courses. I put my brave pants on and managed to do them all without crying or throwing up! Moose did have one naughty moment where he decided he was going to lie down in the water jump! I had soggy boots for the rest of the ride!
Sherll wasn't feeling it today bless him, but he provided good emotional support for Moose.
Apologies for any swearing, those were some big jumps!

It's a wonderful video. Do you ever use a whip before flying obstacles? I'm not good at narrow obstacles. I sometimes use a whip to say good luck when the horse is not motivated

Thank you! I don't hold a whip with this horse as he is already very sensitive to the leg so there isn't really a need for the crop. But for other horses it can definitely be beneficial as a reminder for them to be careful and pay attention, especially for narrow jumps if you're worried they'll run out.
