FG the way it is done now in DLSS3/FSR3 sucks because it needs frame to produce intermediate frame and this adds latency. If I already need 120+fps and optimal frame delivery to stop being bothered by input lag and I can still feel improved with higher frame rate then using tech that increases input lag is totally pointless. Making 240fps look 480fps on 480fps monitor - yeah, this might be good idea but at this point it is even less needed because 240fps already looks superb. The only type of FG tech that might be good is reprojection and Nvidia did announce Relfex2 which is reprojection tech - it won't add input lag and on the contrary is designed to improve latency. If implemented well it can be an amazing tech for gamers - especially with some games that at high details being constantly CPU bottlenecked e.g. Fortnite. With 360Hz monitor I can get 2x frame rate with more instantons aiming for games running up to 180fps? Now Nvidia is talking and they need to shut up and take my money! Thankfully Reflex2 is gonna land on earlier GPUs like 4090 and so won't need new GPU. AMD better make similar tech and work with developers more to add their technologies to games. If they do they can compete - otherwise it looks bleak.

@marcleroux3426 i was a fan of Intel myself until the AMD x3d chips.. My last intel cpu was the 13700k and although I still like that system, it was clear Intel were on path to destruction with complete disregard for TDP. The 7800x3d with way less power did seriously impress me, I won't lie. Unfortunately looking at the price of the 9800x3d last night the inevitable has happened 😕
Everyone needs to wait a few months and see what the Intel B780 performs like. Nvidia owns the niche 4k market. Intel just launched a great performance per buck 1080P card in the B580. If the B780 is the same in the 1440P market then AMD will have a big problem. Nvidia won't care because they have the market share but AMD will be in no man's land if they don't drop their prices to compete with Intel.
@MarkC-1970 I'm interested to see what it performs like but at the same time I'm not convinced it'll do great in the market with the intel cpu problems. The 9070xt could also turn out to be a great deal at or around $500.. Although if that was the rrp, I doubt you'll find it at that..
I swear the toxic fanboy arguments are worse now than I've ever seen before. Somehow there's even more vitriol about frame gen now than there was 2 years ago even though a lot of people who have tried it have found it quite useful. None of these people seem to be able to understand that frame gen (or upscaling for that matter) is not being provided instead of raw performance, because the performance of GPUs is primarily limited by available manufacturing tech and power. Sure we could have a GPU twice as fast as the 5090, but it would use 1200W and probably cost $4000-5000 too, and nobody wants that. Work smarter, not harder.
@nimbulan2020 absolutely right! Until some big breakthrough happens in physical hardware people need to understand other limitations like TDP and the price to manufacture.
