    I guarantee all the car reviewers dissing this car have never spoken to the owners. They compare this car to a Luxury SUV and then they drive home in their used Civics! This is a basic small car with a fantastic warranty that rides/handles good for what it is, has engine/trans combo that works well together, and gets the highest EPA gas mileage of any gasoline non-hybrid car sold in America. It's pretty fun to drive (even with the CVT). I've got all the goodies on mine, and still the dealer gave almost $4,000 off when I sat down to make the deal. I have 61,000 on my 2nd new Mirage (unfortunately totalled the first one) and have never had A SINGLE THING GO WRONG with either Mirage. That's reliability! And I happily pay $15 to $20 to fill up (300 miles.) That's real economy folks. A good car. A great purchase!

      Only one major downside. It's the most dangerous car in America, with highest fatality rating, not because it's small, but because it's structural integrity is sh!t. Just look at the IIHS crash test ratings. Thing is less safe than some old cars made 20 years ago.

      Very true.Critics and haters make this car something it isnt.its not a power or flashy car.It is a basic reliiable car that will get you where you need to go and save you gas doing it.You want power ,flashiess or both there are cars out there for you.Why slam on this car and other economy cars?,

    I have a 2019 Mirage ES with 5 speed manual transmission and fog lamp up grade installed by the dealer. I find that this car is very easy to drive in traffic. The drive to the office in the morning is a lot of fun as it is like driving a go cart! I have had it over a year now and it has been very reliable and sips gas, even though I drive it quite hard. I am constantly up and down the rpm levels and shifting but keep in mind, I really enjoy driving. Some of you may prefer to just put it into D and drive along.
    My Mirage came with an extended warranty. Make sure you get your oil changed at the dealer for warranty purposes. Not only will you get a genuine Denso oil filter (one of the best on the market - same brand as Toyota uses) but ask for the synthetic 0W20 oil. The 3 cylinder will thank you for the synthetic oil in the long run.
    On another point of interest, DO NOT let all the people that give this little car a bad review influence your buying decision. It is well built, affordable and a decent commuter car for the money. If you can shift gears, go for the 5 speed instead of the automatic. The Toyota Yaris and Honda Fit aren't any better as I looked at them and drove them.
    This was a well done and informative video by El Cajon. Should I take my Mirage on a road trip, I may very well stop at this dealer along the way for servicing. The lot in the back ground looks well laid out and tidy. That says something good about the dealership right from the start.

      @IT'SME I don't know but I want to keep the service records from the dealership. If you have dealer service records, it is easier to claim warranty coverage later on if you need it. So what is the cost of the oil change at that juncture?

    This car reminds me a bit of my 89 Daihatsu Charade. I have a 2015 SE, with CVT. 46 MPG this morning driving on my commute from Lexington to Frankfort KY. Drove it to Charleston SC last weekend with wife and got around 38.5 average with some luggage. Not bad overall got it used at a dealership for $5800 and a dealer lifetime limited power train warranty at no extra charge

    Do NOT believe the bad reviews! I 100% concur with all those who appreciate this little gem. I own a 2019 with a 5-speed. I drive close to 200 miles a day & it absolutely does everything I need or want from a car. It’s comfortable, it’s quiet, it has every creature comfort you realistically need and is built quite well. I am with the crowd that wishes it had a few more ponies but, it’s not truly lacking by any means & the MPGs are outstanding. As I’ve mentioned in other reviews, I plan on driving this puddle jumper till I retire. At my current rate that’s about 300k & I have absolutely no doubt it will make it. And I have to put in a plug for my local Mitsubishi dealer. I also have a 2007 Endeavor. They’ve been great to work with & pretty competitive with their prices when it comes to maintenance. Since Suzuki pulled out of the market, Mitsubishi is my go to.

    • @adriangoede7433

      Lionel, not to argue for the sake of arguing but... the NHTSA gave it an overall rating of 4 out of 5 stars. US News & World Report gave it fourth place in its 25 safest small cars with 8.3 out of 10. Just for some perspective, the Kia Rio, Chevrolet Spark & Ford Fiesta all scored 4 stars as well. All too frequently, people compare apples to oranges. A prime example of this is the Geo Metro/Suzuki Swift & the Ford F-150. For their respective years, at the time, they pretty much both sustained equal amounts of damage in static barrier tests. The only time that is offset is when the two crash into each other. Of course the sub compact will be victimized by a full size pickup. So will the full size F-150, by a dump truck. So what? Drive defensively & choose the vehicle that suits your situation. If I drove ten minutes to work, I’d likely pick a larger vehicle but, I don’t. I drive an hour & a half... one way. I do so because I make really good money & I like keeping as much of it in my pocket as possible.

    • @adriangoede7433
      @adriangoede7433 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Barbara just for perspective, I also own a Ford Expedition & on a scale of one to ten, if the Expedition gets an 8 out of 10 for road & wind noise, the Mirage easily gets 7 out of 10. Not bad considering the price difference. And I never said the engine was quiet. Yep, it’s got quite a growl on acceleration. But maybe, I’m just not as spoiled as you, or maybe I’m more concerned about the likelihood that I’ll still be driving it at 300k. After you’ve owned expensive luxury cars (shit heaps) that fall apart after 100k & can break the bank at Monte Carlo to fix, you learn that proven reliability from a world tested, power plant with a timing chain for example, is far more important than the superficial b.s. Just my humble opinion.

    Only one major downside. It's the most dangerous car in America, with highest fatality rating, not because it's small, but because it's structural integrity is sh!t. Just look at the IIHS crash test ratings. Thing is less safe than some old cars made 20 years ago.

      The Mirage has actually increased year over year on sales since its release the end of 2013 while most all subcompacts have lost sales each year. The updated restyled Mirage and Mirage G4 will be out here in less than a year. The engine in these cars is basic but very reliable. I owned a 2015 Mirage 2 years and a 2017 Mirage G4 almost 3 years and now on a 2019 Eclipse Cross SEL. My coworker had her Mirage 5 years last month and has not had 1 issue and still 5 years left on her powertrain warranty to boot. Mitsubishis are great vehicles and undercut the competition on price especially with all the rebates and discounts.

      I won’t deny buying one without a manual, I’m it’s most basic form, is a poor value. But you won’t pay $7000 more for the LE over a base modelZ $13,0000 after incentives, discounts, dealer discounts at most should be attainable. Otherwise, find a good deal on a Toyota iA or other nicer car.
      Fiesta is moot. They don’t make anymore. I agree we th you to a degree. They aren’t as reliable, efficient, and roomy as a Mirage and not as cheap (after discounts). They also lack the 10 yr 100k warranty. Best is a 10 grand stick model. I can’t see any reason to go beyond that.
      But they are a more fun car (when they made it). I considered a S for 11 grand or SE under 12300. But I realized Japanese cars simply do a better job of avoiding expensive repairs and I found the cramped rear seat not accommodating for rear facing car seats. Bought a 15 Scion XB Manual with 30k on it instead for under 11 grand. Got an amazing deal. Toyota makes some of the longest lasting solid cars.

      @kylemas2005 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      There are a lot of factors to consider when calculating the overall cost of a vehicle. The main consideration is Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP). The Kia Rio is somewhat more expensive than the Mitsubishi Mirage. Another consideration is the Destination Charge, which is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle to the dealer from where it's built. The Kia Rio and the Mitsubishi Mirage have similar Destination Charges.
      Since the Kia Rio is much wider than the Mitsubishi Mirage, finding a wide enough spot in a parking lot may be a bit more challenging. If you go with the Kia Rio, you may be circling the block looking for a space large enough to park more often than with the Mitsubishi Mirage.
      The Kia Rio has a significantly larger turning radius than the Mitsubishi Mirage, making it much more difficult to maneuver in and out of tight spots.
      When it comes to horsepower, the Kia Rio has a much more powerful engine than the Mitsubishi Mirage. However, something you should consider is that higher horsepower engines often command higher insurance premiums.
      In terms of seating you'll be able to fit the same number of people in both the Kia Rio and the Mitsubishi Mirage. The Kia Rio has significantly less cargo room than the Mitsubishi Mirage, which may be a concern if you do a lot of warehouse shopping.
      Also its kind of pathetic you thumb your nose at the Mirage, I mean it's a KIA Rio, not a BMW. Sad.
