There's another one called Minor Adjustments, and it starred the dad from That's So Raven (Rondell Sheridan) as a child psychologist and Wendy Raquel-Robinson (The Steve Harvey Show, The Game) played his wife. Camille Winbush, who played Vanessa from The Bernie Mac Show, played their daughter on the show as a little girl. It had one season.
@@brj2343 I didn't cite it as a short-lived show. I was putting it there as a reference point for one of the shows she was on so people would know who she was if they didn't know her name. You see how I mentioned that Camille Winbush was on The Bernie Mac Show? That's what I was doing with Wendy.
There was also "Here and Now," starring Malcolm-Jamal Warner in his first post-*Cosby Show* gig. He played a psychology major working at a Harlem youth center. Fifteen episodes were produced, but only thirteen were aired.
Indeed. I agree. Larenz Tate one year after Menace II Society. That show had a good cast. Clifton Powell, Jennifer Lopez, along with the aforementioned Tate.
Another interesting fact about THEA ,the comedian is probably more familiar with 2000's WWE fans as Momma Benjamin (Wrestler Shelton Benjamin 's "mom")
"Part of the comedy derived from the fact that all of the siblings had names that began with 'J'." What, and that wasn't enough to carry the show? Tough crowd.
You also forgot 'True Colors'. That sitcom helped Launch the Fox network's Sunday night lineup. It was on , at least two seasons. Also Steve Harvey's, me and the boys, and the George Foreman sitcom.
New Attitude! i barely remember I loved Sheryl e Ralph and Phyllis Yvonne Stickley so many of our favorite actors were in these short series, many moved into bigger and better things. It shows how you have to keep trying before you find success
@@ebonyinfluential.01 Thanks for the heart. Yeah it was a show that starred Thelma Hopkins, Merlin Santana, and Deon Richmond. The other 2 characters were White though. Merlin was murdered many years ago but Thelma is still alive. She must be in her 70s now. Cheers!
The only ones I remember are Homeboys In Space (which I never watched, because it sounds so stupid), New Attitude, Out All Night, and Sparks, the last three of which I know I watched but I don't remember that much about them now.
Most of these shows relied more on gimmicks and catchphrases. I wish Thea lasted longer. The show took a page from Beulah and Julia as a groundbreaking black female tv show.
My of the cuff theory...the percentage of cancellation of TV shows is roughly equivalent to the percentage of extinction of species. Totally non sequitur to the upload. And my comment totally deserves to be overlooked
10 and 9 were horrible. Before the video started, I was praying 10 was on here. I refused to watch that crap, 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮. I loved Thea 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰. I like Out All Night.
Man I wanted new attitude to stay on...I loved Morris day n that role Correction Thea was not the 1st, diannah carrol in Julia was the 1st Out all night was good 2 On our own was a spin off from family matters or full house? And I didn't see that going long Between brothers was good
That's right I completely forgot that Brandy " sucks at singing " Norwood was on Thea before she starred in moesha or the Cinderella TV. Movie with Whitney Houston.

@X my problem with Martin was that the humor in the sitcom was too ghetto/cartoonish. The show overdid it, unlike other past sitcoms like Good Times, What's Happening, 227 and Amen. Just my opinion.
I only remember Thea & Sparks. Wow, I had no idea that there were so many short-lived black sitcoms, in the '90s!

The Game wa not short-lived. It came back!

I was such a fan of "Out All Night" and "Sparks". I keep hoping someone would put those episodes on DVD or at least a streaming platform.
This deserves way more views
Ahh Thanks you for watching.
I just wish some shows could last as long as Meet The Press.
There was also "Here and Now," starring Malcolm-Jamal Warner in his first post-*Cosby Show* gig. He played a psychology major working at a Harlem youth center. Fifteen episodes were produced, but only thirteen were aired.
It was a spinoff he played his character Theo on that show I actually liked that show
"On our own" is the reason all of my kids names start with the letter J 😊❤
Most of these shows I remember.
Some of these shows that i could watch i enjoyed back in the day.
I WISH they all would have had way more seasons - although I didn't care for homeboys in out of space. I forgot most of them.
These shows will never have the power that Sanford and Son had. Redd Foxx had me laughing like no one else.
I wished ALL of those shows listed were given longer runs.
These shows deserved a lot more love than they got. They forgot to include The Royal Family with Redd Foxx and Della Reese. That show was hilarious.
Check out part 2, it's there. Thanks for watching.
Even when watching Jurnee Smollett on the show as a child, I knew that she would become a star.
This was a great list! I'm gonna look up some of these!
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it.
"On Our Own" suffered due to being out around the same time as "Party of Five", which had a similar premise.
I remember Thea from her stand up set on "One Night at Rodney's Place". Funny woman . I remember the sitcom, and wondered why it didn't last.
Opening night
South Central should have been on this list.
Oh yeah. Completely forgot about that show.
For real!! now that show was GOOD!
Yes. Loved that show. It had good ratings but still got canceled.
Indeed. I agree. Larenz Tate one year after Menace II Society. That show had a good cast. Clifton Powell, Jennifer Lopez, along with the aforementioned Tate.
where is "Here and Now" with Malcolm Jamal Warner. That was 1992-93, right after "The Cosby Show" ended.
I hadn't even heard of that show until watching a compilation of '90s TV intros on RwDt09's channel. I never knew about it.
I remember. Daryl "Chill" Mitchell was in it too.
Good News was another good one. It was kind of like Amen.
THEA is the #1 short lived sitcom of the 90's
Another interesting fact about THEA ,the comedian is probably more familiar with 2000's WWE fans as Momma Benjamin (Wrestler Shelton Benjamin 's "mom")
That was her?
@@NYRyder1983 yep
That's right. I remember.
Next do a list for the 1980s and 1970s ,and 1960s all Black shows
It's very hard to find some shows but we did do a 70's video th-cam.com/video/hYgVRMsP2Zg/w-d-xo.html - thanks for watching!
Did the 60s even have 10 black shows? I believe the first ever one was Julia and that wasn't until 1968 almost the end of the decade.
'Different World', a smart comedy, great casting, Jasmine Guy was/is a mesmerizing actress. Only seen her maybe two times since, bit parts.
I use to watch homeboys in outer space.
Loved Thea + Good Behavior, that should have been more popular!
I really miss watching these random shows. You don't get quality like that anymore!
New Attitude! i barely remember I loved Sheryl e Ralph and Phyllis Yvonne Stickley
so many of our favorite actors were in these short series, many moved into bigger and better things. It shows how you have to keep trying before you find success
Well said! Thanks for watching.
Some of the shows I see I didn’t know they came on it’s like four I watched when they were on
Lesson One: Don't cast Flex Alexander if you want your show to last.
Well, One on One lasted for 5 years. He was there for 4 of them. It got terrible after he left tbh.

😂😂😂😂
Enjoyed this video. I only remember two of the shows though. I remember the brouhaha over Homeboys in Space. 🤣🤣😂😂
Glad you enjoyed. Thanks for watching.
Sparks was a great show. I thought it ran for more seasons than that
I was a fan of Thea and her catch phrase To the Capital. I hope to find it on one of my streaming sites.
“Abby” was another short-lived sitcom that aired on UPN in 2003 ; it starred Kadeem Hardison and Sydney Tamiia Poitier
i don't remember that at all!
Steve Harvey's 1st sitcom,, "Me and the Boys" is missing from this list...
New attitude, where I live, & me and da boys r da joint!🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🌆
Sparks was funny as hell
omg so awesome
Although I was young, I remember many of these shows. It's a shame they got lost in (ahem) translation.
Thea was a good show. Should have lasted longer.
How about "Getting By"?
Never heard of that show, sorry. Most of these shows never aired in the UK.
Cheers!

Short but very popular
Interesting video i like this .
Ooh ooh yeah MY PARENTS AND KANE AND HIS WIFEY KEKE REMEMBER SOME OF THESE
What about buddies by Dave Chappelle

Most of the black comedies in the 90's weren't that good. From Ms. Harper Stacey.
I think martin was the best television sitcom in the 90's.
I love Thea
Pt2!!!!!
It's coming!
They forgot, My Brother And Me. A show that was on, Nickelodeon.
Never heard of that show, not sure if it was on in the UK. Thanks for the info.
U forgot about the crew in 1994
Never forgot because we never knew! Did not air in the UK.
Homeboy in outerspace was soooo bad I watched it tho 😂 🤣
What about "The Sinbad Show" ?
Thea was good!!!
Rhythm and blues. NBC show about a white DJ working 4 a black owned radio station. Lasted as long as a snap of a finger

Homeboys in outer space, sounds horrendous 😕 lol
None of the Shows own a NetWork to keep things goin!!!!!

Out all night was good 2
On our own was a spin off from family matters or full house? And I didn't see that going long
Between brothers was good
Thea was the first in a self-titled TV show
Only shows like Friends or The Big Bang Theory with a predominantly white cast are the only shows which last many seasons.
True, Can only think of a few that ran a lot of seasons, The Jeffersons, Girlfriends also I think family matters.
Yet friends was a rip off of livin single
The Cosby Show ran for a while.
The racist conservative right-wingers, kept Big Bang Theory on the air.
Family Matters lasted for 9 seasons. The Jeffersons lasted for 11. The Cosby Show ran for 8 seasons. House of Payne is in its 11th season now.
Your forgot good news
Don't think we ever got that over in the UK, never heard of that one, will look it up. Thanks.
What about the comedy about Abraham Lincoln's Black staff member?
There's a part 2 that they just recently did that has that one. I assume you're talking about "The Secret Diary of Desmond Pfeiffer".
I don't remember ANY of these.
I watched thea
That's right I completely forgot that Brandy " sucks at singing " Norwood was on Thea before she starred in moesha or the Cinderella TV. Movie with Whitney Houston.

Martin was a VERY stupid TV show, in my opinion.
It should have been animated instead, along with Homeboys In Outer Space.
Homeboys in Outer Space should have never been made, but I completely disagree with you about Martin.
