I tried to watch The Trouble With Larry when it premiered, but only about six minutes in the first episode was interrupted by the local news covering the arrest of a wanted criminal in the area. The breaking news coverage, which would have taken a few minutes to cover, at most, went on for more than two hours. No further episodes aired on the local network affiliate, as far as I know.

I was a HUGE Perfect Strangers fan at the time and was also a HUGE fan of Bronson Pinchot. On top of that, I was a HUGE TV watcher during 1993 (I would write up my TV schedule of each week and use crayons to make it look fancy, that's how dedicated I was. Granted, I was only 9 at the time. LOL). With that said.... I had NO clue that Larry show even existed till now. To say they failed to properly advertise that show is an understatement. I would have watched it if I knew it existed.

lol okay, out of ALL the SbtB rip-offs during this time there were only TWO shows that I genuinely enjoyed and that was “The Guys Next Door” and “Running the Halls”. I TRIED my hardest to keep up with California Dreams but I stopped watching after the characters Matt and his sister left the show. Actually I gave all the “Teen NBC” shows a try: Malibu CA, Hang Time, City Guys, One World etc. SbtB set the standards so high other shows just didn’t compare (to me at least) and I HATED SbtB: The New Class…..to this day I STILL don’t understand how it lasted so long yet SbtB: The College Years only lasted a single season 🤦🏾‍♂️.
But I digress….I was just SOMETHING about Running the Halls that I loved lol. Maybe it was the ridiculousness of the show or just the whole zany tings happening in a boarding school concept in general but all I know is, as kid when I found out it was cancelled I was actually a bit devastated lol.
Damn I’m old, I’m 43 so that means I was around 11-12 years old during the “Teen NBC” block…..memories 😂😂

I remember South Of Sunset. I think the reason why the show was doomed to fail it’s because by 1993, CBS was airing news coverage of the Malibu Wildfires and those living in the East Coast were watching the World Series. I think it was an odd idea to release a show during a baseball coverage. FOX always does it all the time whenever they release a new show and move it to another night due to Baseball.

I only remembered 3 of them. "The Trouble with Larry", "Space Rangers" and "Key West". Only knew the first one from the ads, and thought it was a gimmick to keep Bronson Pinchot working. Well, this time, I can say I've never seen any of them, but 3 of them, I've heard of at least. That being South Beach, Space Rangers, and Home Free. Maybe as commercials on VHS Tapes dad had, or maybe they were brought up in other TH-cam videos, can't remember for sure, but do remember hearing about them. And The Trouble With Larry, yeah, I could see the problem with the title right off the bat, with that guy starring in it, hearing the title, thought it would have been another spin off of Perfect Strangers, much like Family Matters was, but guess not. And here I thought Langoliers was the start of that actor's downfall. Guess it started before hand. Anyways, enjoyed the video. Thank you.

And watching this video and seeing the picture of that highway sign of Route 222 towards Allentown just makes me feel giddy because I drive that route every day back and forth to work. I haven't watched TV or anything Hollywood produced in about 15 years. Being so far removed from TV it makes the whole phenomena very interesting. In retrospect I think it's clear from the sorts of environments and settings of 80s, 90s and 2000s shows that they really were making shows for themselves or at minimum for the upper class. In their eyes the average 'middle class family' always lived in some, by today's standard, enormous multi-storey mansion. These 'average folk' were almost always experiencing the lifestyles of the rich and famous on their adventures as well while somehow affording it all on their 9-5 salaries. I think it really reflects how long this spoiled industry has been completely out of touch with reality.
