The fact that you give away so many of these 3D printable files that you make, is one of the reasons this is my favorite channel to watch and support. You dont have to sell every little tiny 3d file that you make like some other TH-camrs. You can tell its not about the $$.
Much respect for your manner in presenting these videos. A wealth of credible information, and some great honest advice. Nice to hear your thoughts on priority of choices, compared to what a lot of others choose just because everyone else does !! Thank you
I'm always surprised to hear that you don't like the AXE system. I've used pretty much everything on the market including the Mamba X and the Tekin RX4 and I find the feel of the AXE to be far and away better than anything I've ever used. It was such a game changer when I got one that I don't think I'll ever go back to one of the other systems on a crawler.
I agreed with everything on electronics up until you said stay away from the axe system. The 3 that I have are awesome and ordering a couple more of them.
The axe system is awesome! I also have tried mamba x, sw4, and copperhead, for brushless I would definitely go with axe system and for brushed I would go with 1080
So Josh, let's see you set up a RedCat Gen 8, TRX4 and this SCX10 iii to the best performance level you can achieve with each and then go out and do a comparison drive of all three.
Gen 8 doesn't belong in the same sentence with anything Axial or even Traxxas for that matter. all I'm gonna say is the Gen 8s a steering geometry joke, a nightmare w/ Horrifically weak portal axles & design..
I already knew what you were gonna say about this truck before even watching the video. Not everybody has the money to put futaba servos in thier rigs and there’s plenty of affordable options out there. I feel you never gave the axe system a real shot and just condemned them before guys started using them and got some feedback to tweak the kinks out. A lot of guys are complaining that the 1st and 2nd gear doesn’t have much of a noticeable difference to justify using it as a true 2nd speed.
There are plenty of other servos but if I can’t say I know they fit well from personal experience then I’m not going to tell someone to buy it. I’ve given the Axe a bunch of tries, multiple cars and every firmware available. It’s just got too many cons compared to any of the positives it has. There are far better systems available. I had the same sentiment on the 2 Speed in this car and my dislike for 2-speeds in general.
I love that shirt! Is that the new Harley Designs Tiger King shirt? Very nice build Josh. I do see you locking out that 2 speed and upgrading parts on that dig unit. 👍🏼👍🏼
Alvin Marin I have the same question too. I run an AXE system in my Capra and I love it, I see no issues with performance. I’ve no doubt there’s better out there, but I don’t see why this one is frowned upon. I really like the built in Bluetooth, changing settings on my phone, in real time, while I’m driving is an awesome feature.
The main function of the AXE system that sets it apart from others is that it modulates the power automatically to give a controlled smooth drive. (it give more or less power to keep it smooth even if you didn't change the trigger at all) This is what Josh doesn't like. I don't either. It's not that it's a bad system it just does something we don't want it to do. Would rather decide when more or less power is needed ourselves.
It’s also low on power compared to other 540 systems and has poor start up and punch. Way too many things on the cons list for me to ever suggest it to anyone.
Harley Designs, I’ve found that start up has been incredibly smooth in my Capra and you can adjust the punch to your heart’s content via Bluetooth , I’m also using a Spektrum radio and receiver and running 3s LIPO. I’ll admit that if I’m going to build something for comp, this wouldn’t be the system of choice, but I think for the average day to day hobbyist, I would have no issue recommending this system based on value for performance. Thank you for sharing Josh, I appreciate your take on the R.C. world.
Good luck on finding Spektrum SX107 Micro Servos right now. Everywhere online is out of stock until late April early May. My local hobby shop guy couldn't even find any.
Great video 👍 I have that same radio and it's the best. The radio has all the great functions as a real expensive radio but with 4 channels and no color screen.
To me, the "weakest link" of this truck is the attachment point of the panhard link to the provided brittle plastic bracket on the chassis. Broke mine on its first outing in the rocks. Fortunately, Axial provides a second bracket in the kit that can be shimmed to replace the broken unit while I await receiving the proper part.
This truck also has three dig position not two, watch other video and you will learn three different dig features which is awsome.everything covered in this video we knew before the truck come out so thats why the video i shared is more at the level we need.

I do know that the color was special for that year and only 5,000 was painted in copper brown pearl coat.
do you know if you can use a engine sound box on this jeep? i had the scx 2 and took my sound box out of that and tried to put it in my new scx10 3 jeep and it doesnt seem to have a spot on the reciever for it to work, this sure does take away 50% of the fun, dont understand why this company wouldnt havr thought about this, its crazy.

That’s not a motor I would run in this type of truck, you would need to gear down too far to keep temps safe. If I wanted that type of wheel speed, then brushless is the only thing I’d do personally.
Hey Harley I'm upgrading my bomber with Vanquish and Axial parts, got a v2 axle housing Axial ring and pinion, crazy Eddy bearings and Vanquish spool but new spool won't fit so I have to use the stock Axial locker I don't understand why the new Vanquish spool won't work in a Vanquish axle please help.FRUSTRATED!(it's too tight)
After a LOT of research,,,, I spent a dime on the Hobbywing Axe Brushless system.. now you tell me I Fd up. Dang it!!!!!!!! Not matter what I buy,,, I screw up. I've noticed that you tend to recommend the high end expensive stuff. It would be great if you offered a low end comparable replacement as well. Some of us spent so much on a crawler that we expected would be great out of the box with our last few extra bucks we had to reach this level. Only to find out that we got sold out to the upsell. Not a nice thing at all. Sucks to be me I guess huh? How about some cheaper options with only a little sacrifice that we can make up for in driving habits? You could have cut out the rest of the engine and glued it to the servo if you really wanted to.
How did you get the servos to shift properly? Or did they in real life once you started driving the car as well? I can't get mine to shift properly, high and low doesn't seem to make any difference which I choose and the dig I'm worried to use since I don't know if it will engage properly afterwards, I've had the car rolling down hills after trying to use the dig just because the rear wheels didn't engage and the front ones had bad grip
Have you tried using 3s 18650 3500mah batteries? I dont think you need a large amp draw so they should work. 3500mah is the largest I found but are lighter than lipo and smaller in space.
You’d mentioned the 1.7:1 gear reduction would give you a slower speed. Would you also see an even smoother low slow control? Dumb question probably. Would there be a way to use the 10.2 Rock Jocks as the straight axles for the 10.3

@@HarleyDesignsInc you can turn the FOC off Josh if you don't care for it, you keep saying underpowered, in what perspective? Turned out awesome Josh, as always you do great work. Love those halo lights, I bet my pro would look awesome. I've been loving my VS4-10 Pro !! I love this rig, but I noticed the steering knuckles getting a little sloppy, in the back axles pull in and out 4 to 5 mm's don't know if that's normal. But on the steering knuckles, guess I should order some of those threaded sleeves
THANKS for this Josh! 😎 That was a very thoughtful and thorough run through of this amazing new Rig!! MAY I get an opinion from you? I KNOW I've been an ass in the past, but I really Respect your opinion on this subject.... Like most of us, I'm getting a Stimulus Check and rare opportunity to finally get my first new Rig in over 7 years! 😁 The "Boss" is giving me $450 to spend on it. Now I could get the Element Sendero Kit, and Everything else to make it BADASS..... Or the III, and enough left for Batteries, Motor, Paint and cheap 25kg Servo. Please, I'm asking for help. WHICH would you honestly choose, given you only had $450 to spend? Most importantly, stay SAFE! Carmine ✈🚂🚙
I feel like that could be a tight budget to get the SCX10-3 done. However the build of the 3 is a lot more fun. The Enduro is a simple truck that gets the job done, but if you’re going to end up building more than driving, then the SCX10-3 may be the route to go.
@@HarleyDesignsInc That's fair.... I just thank God that I've got a little time to think before the Check gets here. 😖 All I've got for starters is a couple of HH Brushed Motors and a 4 Channel Radio. I'm just sick of hearing "Get a TRX-4" all the time! 😠 I don't want one. .... One even said "Get a Vaterra Ascender!!!" 😲 See why I wanted YOUR input? Like you, I'm a Builder. I enjoy Kits, but more than that, MODIFYING Rigs. I LOVE the III! Just the Videos alone get my mouth watering.... It really looks like Axial sat back, watched the upstarts have the Market - then went to the Drawing Board with a clean slate! (Though the Capra was a great teaser!!) 😁 If they quickly come out with a Single Speed, Straight Axle Kit, with Dig - for even CLOSE to $300 - it would be a no-brainer. The Element ISN'T the consolation prize for me either. I think it's quite a nice Rig out of the box - WITHOUT that Body. Which makes the Kit ($239 at AMain right now!), the perfect platform for a Frame up build, with a Chassis that's NEARLY as LCG as the VS4-10 Pro! (Which is DEFINITELY on my list after my HUGE Inheritance! Someday) Maybe I can get the Wife something EXTREMELY thoughtful for a gift.... And get my budget raised to $600!! 😉 Thanks Josh! Please stay SAFE! 😷
Fuck I am new to RC cars wanted to build one of these but when all said and done looks like it can cost $600-700 I think a traxxas trx 4 would be better for me
Hopefully they make a iii base version that doesn't include the option for 2 speed or dig for those of us who just want a trail truck but don't want to pay extra for those features. A well machined driveline without micro servos or spacers would be great!

Get your hand out from under there Josh.......lmao
Turned out awesome Josh, as always you do great work. Love those halo lights, I bet my pro would look awesome. I've been loving my VS4-10 Pro !! I love this rig, but I noticed the steering knuckles getting a little sloppy, in the back axles pull in and out 4 to 5 mm's don't know if that's normal. But on the steering knuckles, guess I should order some of those threaded sleeves
Mine will be up on viperrc
I thought they were nitto tires
Yup, I misspoke was all.
Why don't u like the axe electronics?
Why no mention of Team Brood motors? They are good motors too .. and actually answer back to email replies unlike ...... 🙄
Looks great for a jeep;)
13:39 “straight axle version??”
Darcsyde Racing it’s mentioned in the manual and Axial employees said it’s coming, but no official announcement yet.
They are nitto tyres. I’m sorry I’m sure someone has already commented this but yeah.
🤘🍻🤘

@@davekastner3590 thank you
THANKS for this Josh! 😎
That was a very thoughtful and thorough run through of this amazing new Rig!!
MAY I get an opinion from you? I KNOW I've been an ass in the past, but I really Respect your opinion on this subject....
Like most of us, I'm getting a Stimulus Check and rare opportunity to finally get my first new Rig in over 7 years! 😁
The "Boss" is giving me $450 to spend on it.

All I've got for starters is a couple of HH Brushed Motors and a 4 Channel Radio.
I'm just sick of hearing "Get a TRX-4" all the time! 😠 I don't want one.
.... One even said "Get a Vaterra Ascender!!!" 😲
See why I wanted YOUR input?
Like you, I'm a Builder. I enjoy Kits, but more than that, MODIFYING Rigs.
I LOVE the III! Just the Videos alone get my mouth watering.... It really looks like Axial sat back, watched the upstarts have the Market - then went to the Drawing Board with a clean slate!
(Though the Capra was a great teaser!!) 😁
If they quickly come out with a Single Speed, Straight Axle Kit, with Dig - for even CLOSE to $300 - it would be a no-brainer.
Someday)
Maybe I can get the Wife something EXTREMELY thoughtful for a gift.... And get my budget raised to $600!! 😉
Thanks Josh! Please stay SAFE! 😷
I think a scale truck should go at a scale speed, it doesn’t need to go 50 mph.
You need the Harley Quinn figure driving it, Or in the passenger seat
I'm just here to read shirt comments. 😜

You must watch this video guys before you build, axiel seriously messed up this manual thats why everyone is clicking, watch this video i shared.
I go over the simple reason of the clicking, it’s not something that requires much explanation.
