I had trigger thumb on my left hand several years ago. I had a physical therapist friend tell me I would need surgery, but could to cortisone shots first to prolong it. I am so against those shots, and surgery if not absolutely needed. So I did my research. I looked up everything I could find on the subject. I massaged both hands and stretched both thumbs until it cleared up. No surgery! Hasn't come back and that was about 5 years ago
Wonderful. Breaking the scar tissue (adhesions) is the most important thing to bring the mobility back. Then massaging not only the affected part but also a whole hand. Just to make the muscles kind of 'lose'. That should speed up healing. Good luck.
DR BERG THANK YOU!!! I had been suffering from a trigger finger for the past three months, and now in just 15 minutes the pain was so significantly reduced. THANK YOU!
I was watching another video on the same topic and saw this video while scrolling at the same time. Switched to this video, tried on myself what was taught and felt almost immediate alleviation of pain. I give a 10.
It worked when I massaged the same finger on opposite hand. My finger was hurting me all day today and after 5 minute vigorous rubbing of opposite finger while watching video , which admittedly does not look very convincing.,. the pain is almost all gone. Unbelievable. Thank you doctor.
Question for Dr Berg: Do you also have a video about "Dupuytren disease" or called " Dupuytren's contracture" ?? And what the realation is with food/vitamines and exercise? Or how to prevent it?
Wow, this is the absolute truth: I accidentally punched a wall during a bad dream a month ago and my index finger was hurting for a month, so I was searching online for relief and googled index finger pain, then I found your site and did your exercise on the opposite finger just now and the pain seems completely gone. I can't believe it! Thank you, Dr. Berg -- you are amazing! I am so grateful! While I realize I might have to do this again and again (I don't know but it stands to reason) you have shown me how to handle this smoothly. Wow! (By the way, I am already subscribed and belled to your great videos! Thank you again!)
My wife has trigger finger and I watched this video and applied pressure and massage for one minute and her pain went from 4 to 0! Amazing, that's why I'm a fan of Dr. Berg.
WOW! I was hesitant to try but it did work! Lots of chores today after a week of being a typing demon and my left finger was triggering badly. i did this as the video played and it work!! Its amazing! TY so much Dr Berg!
OMG! This is CRAZY!! I have had semi-locked right index trigger finger for about a month. Hate pain meds, surgery, all that baloney, including cortisone shots so mostly tried to just ignore the chronic pain. The pain would rock between 2 to 5 on a daily basis but never totally gone. Took ibuprofen twice during the past two weeks. I ran across this vid while taking a break from chores and started massaging the left index finger area. Did not find the magic spot, but continued anyway for about 15 minutes. Went back to chores cleaning bathrooms, laundry, etc for about 20 minutes. Took another little break and noted that for the first time in a month or more, my right index finger is not totally locked. I can actually make a tightly closed fist!! Still some pain but maybe a 2, definitely not a five! AMAZING! I will continue working with this for a complete restoration to normal. THANK YOU!! ❤️❤️❤️
thank you Dr. Eric Berg developed trigger finger last may 19 2018 after hurting my hand and now its not hurting that much and what's more amazing my finger does not lock or click anymore god bless you Dr. Eric Berg you are truly a God send
Crazy. Like many of the other comments, I was massaging my hand during the video and my trigger finger on my opposite hand found some relief. I saw another one of Dr. Berg's pressure point remedies for a sore throat and was totally amazed. Thanks Dr. Berg!!!
wow! I have just started to get trigger finger in my thumb, I started massaging like you said an it does bend better without locking up. I can hardly believe this. thanks doc.
O my God, it worked amazingly. I tried only for may be a minute and my finger pain came down from 8-9 to 3-4. Thank you so much for this little tutorial.
This is so awesome! I had trigger finger before on my 2 thumbs and surgery fixed it. Now I have another one 10 years later. This worked very well on my middle finger on the right hand. Thanks Dr Berg! 😊
Oh wow!!! I just tried your technique & have to say with in 3 minutes my trigger finger stopped hurting. It still comes back & catches but doing this massage trick really helps & soothes my pain. Thank you!
Dear Dr. Berg; I had a massive car crash in Feb. 2014, and smashed both hands. Have had dominant hand trigger finger and other right-side issues ever since. Still have a lot of swelling in right hand which is suspected rheumatoid (going to see someone very soon on that). I was doing this technique to myself while you were teaching/doing it in the video, and was amazed at the relief. Especially, since I've been through Hell and back with X-rays, MRIs, ultra sounds, and teams of sports injury folks (RMT, Chiro, Osteo, Physio, Acupuncture) working on me with no significant results after the main part of swelling and discolouration had simmered down initially. THANKS SO MUCH!!! Will continue to self-remedy and of course, use your massage tool too.
I have locked tendon index finger, left hand, from an accident, had surgery and went through physical therapy with improvement but now back to locked position. Going to start doing this with great anticipation for unlocking and relieving all the pain. Thank you Dr. Berg.
Omgosh! I had heard of this mirror technique many years ago but didnt think to use it on this weird thumb issue i woke up with a couple of weeks ago. Dr Berg you are an absolute legend.
Wow , I felt the relief right away, I have trigger finger in both hands and the same finger , one side has always been worse than the other, I’ve been working it for quite some time and the opposite side has been recovering and the one I’ve been working has stayed pretty much the same, after watching this video, it all makes sense.
For me, taking Alpha Lipoic Acid supplements cured my very bad trigger finger completely, in a week. I would wake up and my finger was completely “locked” into place. Now it is completely normal.Alpha lipoic acid also reduces peripheral neuropathy significantly.
Dr. Berg you are just great. I have this pain for a couple of days now and it was getting worse every day and now it has just disappeared within five minutes.
Ohh Gawd... It seriously works...Thank you so much for putting this video out. I was like struggling with this annoying pain for so many weeks now...even after taking medicine....Thanks
I did my research and found out that taking vitamin coenzyme vitamin B6, P-5-P (Pyridoxal-5-Phosphate) 50mg - 3 times a day along with Chelated Magnesium (as magnesium glycinate) for absorption, cured my trigger thumb! From my research they said you have to take this for the minimum of 6 months to start working. Well, 6 month and 2 weeks later my trigger thumb totally cleared up, seems like overnight after suffering for over a year and a half. I'm cured, and just last month my hand doctor said he thought I should have the surgery to fix my trigger thumb! My trigger thumb was really bad, had to splint my thumb 24 - 7. I even had steroid shots in the thumb, no help at all! Anyways, this worked for me, even though my doctor didn't believe that it would work!
O my God it’s true I have had my trigger fingers thrice in a year for two years. Despite the vast nutritional indormation and practice. I tried this on my own and it’s like magic. No pain!!!! No clicking of fingers.!!!

I also did not opt for chiro or any mechanical manipulations. The ultimate reliever since then and no recurrence was injection from Ortho surgeon. But if you have comorbidities like diabetes or hypertension or even increased weight, then they should also be controlled and considered before the injection.
Alevtina i replied and only those who do not overuse their fingers specially the thumb and ring, can benefit from the injection but when the tendon gets so thick and all other relief options are exhausted, then surgical procedure called tenolysis or release of trigger finger is considered.
@@lolabebeng3298 Thank you. I don't think that I overuse it, just cooking and wash the dishes helping my daughter's family. And it happened a month ago. I started physiotherapy , just two weeks ago :ultrasound and exercises. My appointment with a hand -doctor is gonna be in a month. I cannot wait what he will tell me.
It works,! While watching the video , i ask my daughter , " lets try it. She massage my left hand ( the middle finger )not so much pain when i closed my hand..but the lock of my finger still there.. We need to do it again..but i can feel better! Thank for the video
I have a trigger finger-- 4th on the left. I tried massaging on the right 4th finger, and the sorest area-- surprisingly sore was on the back of my right hand over the bone. I worked on that, then found a sore spot on the right palm. Now I've got smooth movement and no pain from the trigger finger. I tried the technique and it relieves the pain 90%, Dr Berg, thank you so much for sharing the video. Question: the pain does come back after hour or so, is there any other techniques to fix it for long term? Thank you!
This really works! I was skeptical, but after a few minutes working on the opposite point, I can bend my finger without the pain & popping. It just isn't there anymore. Unbelievable! Thank you Dr. Berg!

Dr Berg: Could you, if possible, please make a video about "Dupuytren contracture" and any advice you might have? Thank you for your time - your videos have helped me more than once, and it's appreciated.
Oh my goodness! I was watching this because my thumb has been clicking when I bend it and it's especially worse in the mornings. So I was massaging my opposite thumb whilst I watched and after 5 mins my thumb had stopped clicking.
This is incredible. I️ was highly skeptical watching this but my left middle finger has had painful locking and clicking due to trigger finger. I️ rubbed the opposite side as you instructed and my finger feels better. Seriously, thank you for sharing.
I had trigger thumb, was so bad thumb was completely straight, could not bend it for six months. I had two steroid injections with little change. Then I had trigger thumb release surgery and it completely fixed the problem- I had complete range of motion if the thumb with no pain two years later now.

Hi Dr. Berg, I have a trigger thumb on the right hand for several weeks now and it hurts badly. It does not go away even with the medication which the doctor prescribed me. Does the same method by pressing on the left thumb my own work for me as well or I will need someone to do it me? Please advise. Thank you.
Hello Dr.Berg, How many times I have to do this to relieve the pain. The massage relieves the pain momentarily and pain comes back to the same level prior to the massage.I am facing the exact same issue as the person in this video.Does this make the trigger finger go away? Please suggest your advice. Thanks
Wow. Dr. Berg...you are the Doctor! Thanks for the video. I tried to learn bass guitar Aug 2023 and my index finger...right below the base of the finger has been sore ever since. I saw a physical thearpist to no avail. I was sched to get a Prolotherapy injection this week. No way would i take a steroid injection. My finger has never locked up but it feels like it wants to. This bilateral massage has really made a difference. How many times a day would you recommend??
I started doing this exercise while watching the video. Wow!! I definitely feel better on my trigger finger. Absolutely amazing how This works. Thank you so much Doctor 😊🙏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Yes it's! work. Amazing this is my second day I try in the morning ...because I've already see doctor can't work......and see the Chinese Dr....three time”s...and..not work...and my finger become hurts....cause he message in the trigger finger....Very hurt....not massage in opposite finger....
Thanks for this video Dr Berg, but I've got TF in two fingers in right hand and the very same fingers in the left hand, but the right hand fingers have gone really stiff. When I first got it in one only RH finger about 27 years ago, the doctor told me to come back when it hurts.... so I've never gone to another doctor. But what I'm also looking for is what you teach so brilliantly in all your other videos... and that is: what foods or vitamins, etc would help try and counteract what's happening in the tendon? What to avoid which could be agitating that?
i have early signs of trigger finger pain on 8 of my fingers (all except the 2 thumbs). I gotta try this. living with so much pain everyday, while doing housework, cooking, cleaning, and hobbies, on top of working, just leaves me in despair alot of times. it's as if the pain just wouldn't leave me. let's hope it works
I love gardening and eat all the vegetables that grow in my backyard, raw or cooked. Mustard green, spinach, broccoli, kale, mint, parsley, basil, green onion, garlic, ginger, radish, turnip, okra , squash, bitter gourd, fenugreek , beans, tomatoes, sweat potatoes, salads peppers , capsicum, and some other kind of herbs of which I don’t know the names in English.(bathoo, cholai, mako) . I am 76, active, medicine free, healthy except for this trigger finger which I noticed 2 months ago. Since then I have been trying to handle it with massage or some exercise. I will try this technique and see what happens.
Was the trigger finger gone after the treatment? I have a trigger finger that started 2 months ago. There is no pain. I follow your diet as much as I can, eat organic and local as much as possible. I do lots of fermenting food. I wonder why did I ended up with a trigger finger. I am 60 years old and I am way more healthy than most young people. I take no drugs, never need to visit a Md. I am using Castor oil to see if that can dissolve the scar tissu (or swelling or calcification.. not sure what is causing it) there at the base of the ring finger. I am going to continue the Castor oil application and will let you know if that resolve the trigger finger issue.
This only addresses the pain, not the root cause. The diet and the supplements help to reduce inflammation but if you injure yourself it is going to hurt. The injury happens because of repetitive motion, like using a keyboard - pain is still going to happen, you will need to address the root cause to get complete relief
So I got a cortisone jag last Thursday and today Wednesday it’s still tender and annoying. And clicking. Just tried this opposite thumb and the pain and tenderness is actually away and I can bend my thumb lots better. Tbh. I didn’t think it would work. Thanks Doc. 👍🏻
Once again Dr. Berg has done it! My carpal tunnel flared up from my fingers to my shoulder after cooking and cleaning a few days in a row. Doing your technique has eased my pain! Thank you so much for all you do!!!

I started doing this exercise while watching the video. Wow!! I definitely feel better on my trigger finger. Absolutely amazing how This works. Thank you so much Doctor 😊🙏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I had a trigger finger too.. ive try it to press the opposite side i cant believe it but it was really amazing.. it works.. thank you very much..
Yes it's! work. Amazing this is my second day I try in the morning ...because I've already see doctor can't work......and see the Chinese Dr....three time”s...and..not work...and my finger become hurts....cause he message in the trigger finger....Very hurt....not massage in opposite finger....
not so sure how and why but it does help!! thank you !!!
I gotta try this. living with so much pain everyday, while doing housework, cooking, cleaning, and hobbies, on top of working, just leaves me in despair alot of times. it's as if the pain just wouldn't leave me. let's hope it works
you should make a video on importance of organic fruits and vegetables!! I am curious!
Can you please please make a Dupuytrens disease video. Thank you
Was the trigger finger gone after the treatment?
Amazing. Knuckle on ring finger of right hand. I wonder how long relief will last. Though- Happy to know it can be relieved for any period.
It really works! thanks God & thanks a lot Doc, for this amazing video my pain was gone
my mom has it same finger both hands. is it same procedure? its possibly linked to rheumatism, maybe she needs to stop consuming sugar too?
Sugar is poison
Thanks so much!🙏🏻
