Well that's what we have to tell ourselves when we don't find a thing (which is most of the time). Honestly we just have fun hanging out and if it's hunting or playing games, it's a great day!
Good afternoon jenn and scott. thanks for the video and please know your videos plus others in the retro family help my mental health tremendously. Going through alot. May each of you have an awesome day.🙏🤘👍🕹🎮🤓 Oh also happy Austin 3:16 day! 🖕🍺
That makes me very happy to hear that! It's such a positive community (for the most part) that We're all here to uplift everyone. It's a beautiful thing
I know everybody has to make a little piece of the pie but the thrift shops have gone way beyond what is reasonable. It is a sad state of affairs indeed
Eastern Connecticut doesn't have many places to go for great retro deals. Goodwill saves that stuff for auction. I do yard sales in the summer. Facebook Marketplace can be a good place too. I love Pricecharting! I have most of my collection entered. I use them for my auction prices too. Sometimes we gotta take a loss.
Can you imagine naming your company Goodwill and then not having any good will at all and auctioning things off to the highest bidder? If it was indeed 100% for charity I could understand but we all know it isn't. The charitable thing to do would be give everyone a little bit of a deal since the economy is so terrible. We really enjoy price charting too, but the mystery of some of our games just disappearing after we put them on there is bizarre. Those losses happen for sure. Just got to learn from them lol
I’m in vancouver. Our thrift stores are definitely better but we live in a much bigger city. Of course there are a lot of overpriced stuff but things slip through.
A bigger city definitely helps. Moncton is so tiny in comparison and such a poor province that I think there's a lot of resellers constantly buying up every little deal. Makes it hard to collect.
I've never seen a video game at my Salvation Army xD And they also just don't have the glass electronics case anymore either... Not sure what's goin' on there, but RIP salvation army for now I guess xD
Yeah I think ours are on the way out too. They moved the glass case and there used to be a bit more. My thoughts are if we went in a month from now, they would still have the same games.
In order for thrift to have any chance it has to be number of wins. Especially if they are selling $40 zappers. My local thrift stores have nothing. Not even overpriced stuff. It is like no one has ever heard of video games. We do have better luck with board games and movies. Plus the kids have never not found a toy that they must have.
I've always wanted to check out board games at the thrift store and there's plenty, but I'm always afraid they're going to be missing like 87% of the pieces 🤣
1-1, its a tight contest. I would choose the winner based on saved, cos I am cheap lol I have never heard of demi kids, that is expensive lol Thrift is gonna win 💙
I think just based on Super Mario World alone. If we went by savings it's going to win. That being said, that was once a lifetime and we've never had a find like that ever. It'll be interesting to see how it plays out
I have the light version of Demi Kids, it's a good one... it was my first SMT game ever. I'll have to break it out and play it again so we can trade (someday in the future). Great finds tho!
value village makes me so fucking mad. bullshit prices. Only thing worth buying is DVD's and 30% of the time the discs aren't even in the cases. Make sure you check.
We've actually got burned on that before. Now we check every time. For a place that's supposed to be about value and charity, they sure don't have any of either. With the economy the way it is they just keep hiking up the prices and no one can afford anything. It's a sad state of affairs
Resellers👏 have 👏ruined 👏game👏 collecting.👏👏👏 I will die on that hill. You know what happens when you tell everybody about Grandpa's fishing spot? EVERYBODY GOES TO SAID FISHING SPOT. Now everybody knows your "honey hole" for finding deals. You know what happens when you advertise buying cheap game to sell for high-high-high profit? EVERYBODY RAISES PRICES to not get screwed, whether they know and/or the game is valuable or not. L-O-G-I-C people.... Or, maybe it's just some sort of amazing, incredible, stupendous crazy coincidence that when tons and tons of content creators began pumping out content about finding cheap games and selling them for crazy profit online that that's when we saw a boom in retro gaming prices skyrocketing. AND that's why everybody always whips out that phone and goes to Ebay when you ask a price; they gotta check it first...
Well you won't die on that hill alone because you're absolutely right. Scott and I have less patience, especially for our local resellers every minute that passes. Everything you said is 100% correct. Absolutely agree! It really takes the fun out of hunting for video games when it's just a bunch of overpriced sports titles in the thrift stores or our case, a $40 zapper 😫
Bahahaha we're not boomer but apparently we look old AF, awwww well, we kind of are I guess. Good to know you watched the video though because we're actually not resellers at all. We were comparing thrift versus pawn as far as pricing goes. We're collectors who play our games. Thanks for the commenting 👍
That makes sense but I have no idea how we will beat that one good find ever in a thrift store. Imagine that. Did you trade the GBC Survival Kids lol, now I need to know
As much as I have had some success at the thrift stores I feel like 9/10 trips are just like this. 😂 But dang! I wish I had a pawn shop like Parlor near me. I almost NEVER find anything at the pawns. Awesome pickups from Parlor! 🍻 I say most Wins…Have a great weekend y’all!
Right?!? For as much as it's exciting to find a really amazing deal at the thrift store, it's almost bittersweet because it takes going constantly all the time and it's just not enjoyable after a certain point. I think that's why we didn't get as excited about our Mario find as we did. Parlour pawn has treated us mighty well over the years Plus it's a locally owned and operated business which makes it that much better than special for us. Most amount of wins honestly make sense to us too
Can you ever imagine paying $40 for zapper? Maybe when it was new 🤣 Yeah we took a hit on Etrian Odyssey. In hindsight, we never should have took it in a trade to begin with and took back some of our games, but they had already done all the leg work and we figured it was a game that would at least retain its value and we could trade it if we didn't like it. Lol we were so wrong🤣
Competition aside, nice pickups! I mean, is it really a loss when you traded unwanted games for that Etrian game and then sold it back to get another game? In my opinion, I see it more as a trade than a loss! I still think that in the end, the pawn store will win over thrift! Great video and keep up the good work!
Definitely more of a trade for us than a loss and at the same time it makes me happy to see Parlour Pawn pricing the game accordingly. Even though it was our loss, they continue to stay below price trading and I'm hoping our loss is someone else's gain
If I had to guess it's still there and I know who the guy is that does the pricing there, I don't know him personally but he needs to find better comparisons because the ones he has are bogus!
Value village is bizzare. They will charge $40 + for a zapper but at the same time I found a complete and flawless logitech z-5500 thx audio system for $20 ...... ooooooooookaaaaayy...
Yeah, I don't get the pricing at Value village either! My theory is a ridiculously big top hat full of price tags with only one that is reasonable. They let the employees dive in and it's all randomly assigned. They probably do it on a Tuesday. 🤷🏼♀️🤣
I can not recall what I paid for Demi Kids Light version CIB, it was a great deal thrifting at that time probably like ten dollars and it was a great deal and sort of valuable. I just looked it up when I saw that you got dark version and it is worth over $650. Mind Blown.
Yeah, our pawn shops are the best, thrift stores are garbage and don't even get me started on Facebook marketplace. It's the same sellers all the time asking over price charting.
My comment won’t go through about the zapper, but you can guess what I said 😂 I would say the most amount saved but if your not sure, you can phone a friend or do a 50-50 option 🤣 Guess you could include who won as well just for the fun of it. Congrats on another save, I love this series! 👏
God damn it. I hate when TH-cam censors hilarious comments. How am I supposed to phone a friend? You mean I got to leave my basement and start making friends? That's crazy talk!
It’s wild seeing that many games below price charting at your pawn shop. & the fact that it’s not WAY below price charting shows that the owners are aware of the games value, but decided it’s more valuable to them & their business to give their customers a bit of a discount. I respect the shit outta that. Loving this series guys!
It's a good middle ground because honestly when they go too far below price charting it gets snatched up by resellers. It happened more than a few times there and it's super frustrating.
Wow that zapper price was nuts.
Don't I know it!
As long as you two find some decent games and have fun doing it you can’t go wrong! All tied up at one a piece! Great video as always guys!
Well that's what we have to tell ourselves when we don't find a thing (which is most of the time). Honestly we just have fun hanging out and if it's hunting or playing games, it's a great day!
Great pick ups! Thrift stores and pawn shops are pretty rough out here in California. Very slim pickings.
I bet! I'm constantly surprised when I hear people anywhere are still getting deals. For the most part people know what they have!
I hate going out looking for games, and you get excited because you recognize something good and it’s overpriced… at a thrift store.
Yup!!! Every freakin' time...mostly.
The Love Guru, great find Scott. A comedy classic imo
The Canadian Pizza. The pop tart with the ketchup 🤣

That makes me very happy to hear that! It's such a positive community (for the most part) that We're all here to uplift everyone. It's a beautiful thing
Pawn always wins. The thrift/charity shops over here are just as desolate or way overpriced. It's a sad state of affairs 🤷♂️
I know everybody has to make a little piece of the pie but the thrift shops have gone way beyond what is reasonable. It is a sad state of affairs indeed

$40 for a zapper?! I'm surprised there wasn't a Duck Hunt Dog laughing behind the counter! 🐶🦆
Right?!? I would love to know who was smoking what when they priced that!

That was funny but clearly not a good day out😭
Definitely not a good day out but we always have a good time none the less

Is there a difference between the two at all?
@@RetroRivals from what I remember it’s like Pokemon but with Shin Megami Tensei monsters like Jack Frost and all that. It’s been a while tho.
I have been having better luck with pawn shops as well or gamestop sales otherwise its a bust.
Yeah thrift seems to think they have gold lately and price it as such. It's ridiculous
40$ for a zapper hurts my heart🤣
Right? I cannot understand the logic behind the pricing to save my life. Hurts my heart too lol
Black and white is a decent game that is considered abandonware, never made it to digital pc, just sayin
Well shit lol, maybe I should have picked it up after all.

Keep it up! Love the videos!

I saw that same Zapper not too long ago. I really question how Valu Village goes about pricing stuff thede

That is freaking crazy! You don't hear about those kind of finds much anymore.
@RetroRivals for sure but I did get a pretty good thrift haul in my last pickups, if you want to check it out.
It just keeps getting harder and harder to find something worth buying from thrift stores and flea markets. That kinda sucks.
Yup! It absolutely does but I guess if I never find anything I have enough games to last my lifetime. I'm okay with that 🙂
@@RetroRivals that's true!
Demi Kids is a fantastic pick up! Those are games that are super underappreciated.
If only we would have gotten it the first time 🤣🤣🤣 but we have it now and that's what counts!
same here in my area i stop going all together facebook market place is where if find my deal but i even stop that not even worth it any more.
