zombieslayer - That would be awesome! I feel like RE2 should be further along than 7 in development so it may be the opposite where they focus on 2 at E3 and tease 7, then have a blowout on 7 at TGS. But you never know...I've been playing RE ever since the original on PlayStation and it literally changed my life. It was a HUGE part of my teenage years.

Whatever genre Resident Evil is, whatever rating the reviewers give, I always, always love RE. No matter if the game is bad or good. This game was very fun. I always enjoy every RE game, considering I'm a huge RE fan. And I love the RE movies too. I know almost all people who don't like RE don't like the movies either but the movies are very well. So, without further-a-do, RE is my best franchise ever. No game will ever replace it.

I've always loved the RE games. 4 is one of my favorites of all time. I also really enjoyed 5. I never played 6 until recently. I do like to look up reviews before I play a game and they always kept me from playing it for some reason. Well. Idk why this game gets as much hate as it did/does. Yeah its more of an action game but its still good! I say it deserves a strong 8.5/10.

The PSX Resident Evils were so well paced. They understood that if you can get a player to relax, when a zombie surprises you, it's scary than constantly running from zombie hordes. They also let you absorb your environment. The settings became characters of their own, and despite leaps in technology, interaction with surroundings was greater.

The initial problem with this game is Capcom was like "LOOK AT ALL THESE EXPLOSIONS AND GRAPHICS!!!!!" and I'm like "yeah but what about the core gameplay?" and they're like "BUT LOOK AT THE EXPLOSIONS!!!" -_- devs these days are forgetting the fact that without good core gameplay, you dont have a good game.

I have to say that I really enjoyed my time with this game. I must be incredibly tolerant as I didn't find anything in RE6 tedious.
Regardless, it certainly wasn't as great as RE4, nor as good as RE5, but it was still a heck of a lot of fun.

Just re-downloaded Resident Evil 4 after playing this game and I can honestly say, again, that from playing the two games, RE6 remains highly underrated for me. I love Resident Evil 4 and all, and completed the Wii version a few years back, but after playing this game on the PS3, I can say that the game has a lot of flaws. One of the biggest flaws is the controls, they're absolutely terrible when compared to modern day game controls. You can't even move when you aim lol. Not trying to take anything away from Resident Evil 4 or anything, but I think people have been WAY too harsh on RE6 as a game. I will defend this game as much as I can, because I think it has gotten a bad rap it doesn't deserve.
The inability to strafe is the beauty of RE:4 though. It makes the game more challenging and rewarding when you figure out how to pwn on it without the use of such evasive devices. It does however have the quick turn and knife attack which are extremely useful. It also means you have to have better aim and a loosely RPG style element of having to select the right gun for the job while keeping in mind ammo conservation. Meaning you definitely can't endlessly spam shotgun blasts everywhere and expect to have success. Sure these work great when you have them but such ammo is sparser than you'd think. Me I prefer the Red-9 as I'm an appreciator of fine guns and not just how fast and hard they shoot. Professional mode can be tough though but that's what restarts are for I suppose. I just find it a shame how genuinely hard it is to make it through professional without dying!
In my opinion Resident Evil 6 is a great action game but a terrible Resident Evil game.

I love resident evil & I personally love the 4,5,6 full on action takes of the games. This series has a lot to offer & since I was young this game will always find a way to spook me lol

Does anyone else miss when each room had a dozen details to explore or coming across something strange and understanding its purpose later in the game, or the intense feeling of isolation the early games invoked? I think it's time to reboot the series from square one and release the virus on a fresh RE story.
For me this was one of the best action game that I have ever played! yeah its gameplay could have been way better buy this game was amazing! great story! awesome scenarios! memorable characters and awesome action sequences! nowadays I haven't seen any game close to this one!!! for all those who haven't tried it! do it! you won't regret

4EverGamer X Then you haven't played one outside this one. Resident Evil is a survival horror game. While laughable that's what it is. RE 6 is nothing like that. Now while it's a little fun on its own. Take away the resident evil heading and it's honestly just an average 3rd person action game. Maybe a little above but not by a lot.
Yeah I started with RE4 cuz of the humble bundle with capcom and definitely enjoyed it. Much so to where I wondered why RE6 wasn't seen as great. After playing half of the campaigns can see why as the game overall focuses on action more so than survival horror, but even so agree game is still fun and there were a few times I was scared, though not to the extent RE4 did to me. Plus having 4 separate campaigns is pretty nice.

Playing Re1-3 all the aspects was scary, the fear of something lurking in the corners, the opening of doors, slow stairs climb etc, playing 4-5 all changed, the nervousness all gone, don't even wanna try 6. I think is for me its the usage of fix camera where they force the player to see the horror at the perspective they want. At this technological age fix cam systems will less likely make an reappearance.
re4 was in the top few games I've ever played, probably best or second best it was amazing!
After Resident Evil CVX. Resident evil was becoming overrated. Resident Evil Remake did nothing to the series unlike RE4 witch save the series from falling.

The QTEs were pretty unfair, it all just happened so fast and you have no time to prepare. Although the graphics and story were cool, QTEs were the only major issue for me.
I don't know why, but to me Resident Evil 4, and Resident Evil 2 are the most enjoyable to me. When I was a kid, the chainsaw wielding enemies, and Regenerators in Resident Evil 4 had me taking pause breaks just to get myself together haha. Also I must say, I didn't realize holding X, or O (on the PS2) made you run. I actually played through half or so of the game just walking...
Anyways, Resident 6 was fun to a extent, but I just wanted something scarier. Lets see what the company will do for Resident Evil 7. I wouldn't mind a reboot with the same characters, and classical gameplay with the use of 2014's tech.
The enviroments in both 2 and 4 were incredible , 4 had a really fitting soundtrack and action , it was the complete package , the original re2 had a really creepy enviroment and sound FX

RE5 wasnt bad, RE6 as well wasnt bad Leon's seem like a traditional RE Chris's i think had to much gun fighting and made me feel like gears of war, and jakes was very similer to Chris's but they did add a thing to Jake's i thought seemed fun, his secondary weapon was his fist, so it allowed you to fist fight if needed to make it feel different or if conserve ammo, Ada's never really played hers, and yes i saw on some comments having the same gameplay would get boring but have to take in account that its resident evil suppose to be a survival horror,and teh gun fighting isnt a bad idea cause people do want teh outbreak to continue but having it at every turn of a corner can get annjoying, just my opinion
I think they should really follow up on Re5, the controls and gameplay of Re5 was perfection for a resident evil game in my opinion.
RE5 gameplay is outdated other seriezs did it better including RE6.

And what I thought about the game? That is a great game...for who aren't a big fan of the Resident Evil games.
Even I played all Resident Evil games (at least the most known ones), I'm not personally a huge fan of RE, and I prefer the action REs (like RE 4) than the horror ones.
So I can say that I think Resident Evil 6 is a brilliant game, mainly because the idea of three different kinds of game in only one. But it's not a very good game, just because it's a Resident Evil game, and killed all the essence of this game series.

Resident Evil 6, the Call of Duty of Resident Evil games. Not scary at all, ammo grows on trees, Michael Bay action scenes, and a complete and utter lack of anything that'd make it a horror game. I mean look at the Simmons mutation you fight on top of a train as Leon at one point he just looks flat out laughable. I ended up not even finishing the Leon campaign and not playing the Jake or Chris campaigns. Capcom tried and failed to cater to the COD generation. Get back to the series roots, and listen to your hardcore RE fans.

In no way was RE6 better than RE5... RE5 was a very good game, it just lacked any real horror elements. RE6 was one hell of a mess. Far too many stuff was going on at once that i simply lost interest. Leon campaign was good until it got repetitive just like the majority of the entire game tbh.
Babins1 LOL at least re 6 had some originality, the enemies were far more threatening and all of them were not pull out from past resident evil games like re 5 did.
re6 was a mess but at least it had some creativity to it and it gave me some fun moments through all the campaigns(not saying they were all gr8 each had at least a cool moment to remember).
re 5 had the worst ai i have seen in a while, funny and unoriginal enemies, a gameplay that tried to be like re4 in a time where it feels dated. and many more fails like a almost nonexistent plot to follow...... if you preferred 5 over 6 that its fine cuz we all have differents points of view but shitting on resident evil 6 when it did not fail as hard as 5 is dumb.
i played this once.. finished chris' story first .. then after chris i moved on to leon's story.. got bored.. so i stopped playing.. then i played RE5 .. after finishing it i immediately wanna play RE6 again.. don't know why.. :-) .. maybe i have accepted that this is the NEW RE.. and i'm not bitching like you guys!! i played all resident evil games.. but if you're an RE fan you'll just accept it.. for me, the reason why the past RE games is not action oriented because of TECHNOLOGY.. it's hard to make action games you know, so maybe they decided to make it easy, to just scare players.. in that kind of graphics in the past it's ugly if you put too much action because of t he shitty graphics.. so please.. accpet it guys.. this is the new RE.. if you don't like it then atleast respect the ones who made this game.

rhov rox I just don't understand why they mad such a drastic 180 from the original RE. This isn't 'new' RE persay, it is bad RE. Most of the fans that have played the old games agree, this new garbage they are making is just a bunch of fireworks and explosions with no real horror. I remember back in the last ever semi-disturbing/frightening RE game was RE4. RE5 may have been awesome but it wasn't horror. RE6 was just a sad excuse to put Leon in the story and to come up with some cheesy story that is extremely rushed. I'm not saying you have to be a conformist, but people like you that enjoy this new RE is the entire reason RE is now bad to most of the old fans. There is no sense in completely changing the core elements of a game, especially in such a drastic way in which they did RE5 and 6. Enjoy it if you will but I just don't understand how such a light show that has no fear factor at all can seem fun...

Resident Evil has seriously hit a low, it is missing everything the originals did right. Capcom knows this, hence the re-release of the original for the next-gen consoles.
Resident Evil 4 was a good game but it started the beginning of the end, the enemies weren't scary due to an ridiculous amount of ammo and the merchant, plus they were essentially humans with weapons. Not the resilient zombies which would drain your ammo in the originals.
What RE4 did right though, is it maintained the atmosphere in some places, and also kept the exploring your location involved along with some (limited) puzzle solving.
If they made an RE in the style of the originals but with the movement, camera and shooting system of RE4 then it would be perfect. Bring back a feeling of isolation, exploration and desperation and we may have a winner. If they can do that right and allow a partner in online co-op to explore by themselves too (or together if they please) then we'd have a winner and a remarkable return to form.

Yeah it's not like RE4 didn't inspire people to create completely different games or anything....oh wait, it doesn't matter weather you like the old RE or not RE4 is widely known as one of the best games in the past decade, the older RE games are outdated at this point no one wants Tank Controls for a third person game.
What's done is done, just because some people don't like the direction RE is going doesn't mean they are bad games, the only bad RE game I can think of is Operation Racoon City, aside from that all have been pretty damn good including RE 6, RE 6 is atleast an 8/10 not 0/10 and 4/10 that Nostalgic people are giving it.
kevin mcclure actually I agree they are still good games but bad as re games. its not the controls its that they drifted from their roots. if they took new controls with the elements (not weakened) in place mixed it up and improved on that with a great story then I wouldn't complain. the evil with in is a good example.

The only thing scary about the RE series (pre-5) was overcoming the horrendous controls.

No it's not. There are plenty of other action games that are much better than Resident Evil 6. That vast majority of the people who bought 6, bought it because it was RE 6. They could've just as easily, and by easy I mean cheap, made a survival horror game, and sold in the same numbers.
If only that were true. Capcom had to sell RE4 on 4 different platforms to make a profit on that game. The RE name isnt enough to push units (not to RE5 and 6 levels). People like the product. Dont get caught up in thinking that because some other people share your perception that there isnt another side of the coin.

For all it's flaws, and the fact it doesn't feel like resident evil, and its not scary . . this was actually a good game. If it wasn't a resident evil game, like if it had a different name, or if it was a spin-off and not a core game in the series, it would have gotten much fairer reviews like this, The game is a high 7 or an 8, its a very good game. but a crap resident evil one.
There are parts of this game that had the adrenaline going though. Tons of zombies chasing you, monsters etc. It wasn't scary, but I think Capcom can make the franchise scary again if they put forth the effort. Perhaps its time to do the whole ghost zombie thing now like RE4 was supposed to be.
I agree. Read my comment where I talk about how even RE4 hasn't aged that well because of the controls, if you get the chance. People have been way too hard on RE6 as a game. It did a lot of things right, particularly the controls and co-op play.
I really did enjoy RE6 and people that say it's bad are just on the bandwagon of those who have probably only played 2-3 Resident evil games,including 6. Just because it strays from its original ways of gameplay doesn't mean it's bad at all. The fighting style is still great and there is just so much content with that. Counters,dodge rolling attacks,each character having their own melee attacks is pretty cool. Like the mercenaries from RE4 every character has their own move sets. (Wesker being the best one) RE6 is still very fun and is not boring and especially the play time of the game is very lengthily which is really good.

4 million copies sold in 1 year. Yeah, hate all you want, Capcom is going to stick with the RE4/RE5/RE6 Action-focused formula . People Love it, and it sells, no matter what Reviewers or TH-cam commenters say. No denying that people LOVE Resident Evil no matter what. Check the crappy Resident Evil movies franchise , it has made 912million so far with around 268million overall budget.

+mcxcvix :( Unfortunately I agree, but I expected capcom to do better than that. If they really cared about high sales, they should ported the REmake and zero to at least ps2 and the original xbox 14 years ago instead of making them exclusive to gamecube, since the ps2 at that time was known as the console that make big sales. At that rate RE wouldn't have turned into the disaster it is these days, RE4 could've been a fully pure horror game, and so the upcoming installments after it, and they would still have made excellent sales.

Bradman Reuter You clearly didn't understand the conversation. RE4 was not an action fest and that is regarded by many as the best Resident Evil game of all time and even the best game of all time. Some action is good. No Resident Evil game has had no action. But when they turn into action fests, they become something that is not Resident Evil. Which is why 5 & 6 are regarded as two of the worst in the series by most. Revelations 2 had action, but also a really good mix of what Resident Evil used to be, thus, it was well received. 6 wasn't sure what it wanted to be.
As a guy who loves Resident Evil i had the best time with 6, the sexy and gorgeous Leon was what sold me on the game but i love the sexy Chris too. the action and just pure escapism of this game made it a blast to play. This was like a action movie/horror game and i like that Resident Evil is not afraid to try different things and this was for them different and it keeps things from getting predictable.
I love how no one ever gives games a chance. They see that ign gave something a 5 and figured its shit. Makes it great for people like me who don't trust any reviews because then I try great games that no one else knows about.

I actually enjoyed Resident Evil 6 and thought it was underrated.
jamstrings100 it isnt underrated.the controls are poor, they have too much unnecessary quick time events, the game isn't balanced, why the hell do you punch in all campaigns when you are suppose to survive with ammo, some of the worst designs in a resident evil series, some of the bosses sucked, it was uncoordinated said capcom themselves because there were multiple teams and not many leaders, its a mess that doesnt know what genre it is. the game deserved the score this is the worst resident evil game in the whole main series. even re5 is better. yes.
***** When games like the first Assassin's Creed are given 9/10s across the board, I find it unfair that a game I actually thought was more fun i.e. RE6 could be slammed so much. It really wasn't that bad. Parts of RE6 felt a little broken, but it was still a fun, enjoyable experience. I do think Capcom need to dial the action back a tad though and try to get back to the roots of the series.

I hope they keep the cinematic presentation and Variety in gameplay of RE6 and add more of the horror and survival parts, RE6 was definitely innovative and it would be a shame/downgrade if they just took everything out and retreat to old ways rather then build on it and improve on it with horror & survival it was lacking. If they can do this then RE7 will have truly evolved Survival Horror, so far the Evil Within is looking amazing but here is hoping RE7 tops it.
Having said this i definitely enjoyed RE6 as a game but as a Resident Evil i found it *different* and lacking in horror. As i said i REALLY hope they don't take anything *OUT* but rather *ADD* more of what lacked in the game a.k.a the horror and fear.
This Series is not dead by any-means and i actually think RE6 had a positive effect on the series coming from the game itself and the fan feedback no matter how negative. If RE7 took gameplay stuff out like the Co-op,weapon management,cinematic presentation(camera movement etc),maneuvers etc and say played like RE4 or any RE of old(in terms of gameplay) THEN it will truly be dead. All Capcom needs to do is add more "Survival" to the atmosphere,Music,Situations and of course make a tighter darker more grittier story and i'm sure RE7 will be astounding.
I would give RE6 a 8/10 as well, Good story, Characters were great, Plenty of Fan Nods, lots of variety, Gameplay was excellent and had a really good length..only gripes are the lack of horror and the broken unsure order of the stories(but internet somewhat fixed this).
For RE7's story i would like it to maintain the scope of the problem(With different parts of the world being filled with B.O.W's) but be more dire and sinister(Humanity loosing againsts its own creation?) with a more evil/intimidating and personal antagonist with a past and legitimate reason as to why he is doing what he is doing(A Wesker goal but a more darker/personal and smarter character). I think 1-2 more RE games will be enough killing off some characters inevitably ending with the Apocalypse only to Revive the world proving Humanity really got carried away with its power and hunger giving a hint it will obviously start again leaving a ending for RE but also a possible new beginning. A Reboot of the series or a reduction of anything from 6 would only lead the RE series dying or dead.
This game is Masterpiece and i still loves playing it on my PS4!

It's amazing how people judge the game by its "scare factor." That is not how you rate a game. You have to judge the game as a whole, including game play, story, audio (voice acting, sound effects which we all know the old RE games blew at making), graphics, etc. It's not the RE game you nostalgic fans want, but it creates sales. After RE2, money in sales was decreasing, but RE4 brought the franchise up to a new highest number in revenue and the highest rating for an RE game.
Finaly!!!!!!!! Someone understand that RE4 save the series And won fans of the year despite it not suvival horror.

crappy story rescuing presidents daughter in re4. how does that releate to the series.crappy puzzles. the survival element was terrible you get plenty of ammo with a big inventory you can make bigger. you fight mostly gun men hows that creepy? about every element in that game was weaken and crappy and these are what make Resident evil. look at the evil within it could of been that while keeping everything and improving. you people are just fanboys you think its only about horror no. you guys were never real fans just people who bent over and let them turn the series into something its not some action game which isn't bad but why do we call our selves real fans when we accept something that isn't what we were fans of.

You're right that I'm not a real fanboy because I'm not the biggest RE fan, but I've played most of them. Everything you said about RE4, except large inventory and lesser amount of horror, was just an opinion: "crappy story" "every element in that game was weaken and crappy." Your opinion. Not saying it's wrong. But if you rate RE4 as, not as a Resident Evil game, but its own game, even you should know RE4 is by far the best game because its superiority in sound, gameplay, and whatever other aspects of a game. That's what I'm saying. All I said is that the people who make RE create games to gain revenue, not to satisfy the people who still want the survival horror feeling of the games prior to RE4. That's why RE4 was rated the highest and made the most money maybe behind RE5. Only behind RE5 because RE4 was such a huge success. Read my comment and never did I say I was a fan, nor did I criticize the old games harshly, nor did I say which type of RE was better. I don't care if you like the old RE games and hate RE4-RE6, I'm just saying the facts (ratings and revenue). So don't downgrade RE4-RE6 because their less scary and have a lot of ammo or whatever because as their own games, they are rated higher, or around the same, than the older RE games overall.

To keep things short, the whole RE franchise would've died if they continued the route of RE1 to RE3. I do not need to explain when you can look up their economical numbers yourself. Who cares if it is scary or not? Why would you sell a game when you're losing profit after every release? Makes no sense to me. To me RE4 was clearly the right path chosen.

Die hard RE fan here! Love the more recent RE games like RE CV, RE Remake, RE0, RE4, RE5, RE Revelations and RE6...I can even "tolerate" RE ORC...bring on next gen RE7..and I am also looking forward to Shinji Mikami's "The Evil Within". The confrontation between Leon and Chris in RE6 was epic. RE5 was just solid all the way around and boasts an awesome musical score. RE Revelations piled on the scares and creepiness. RE4 was revolutionary. RE Remake was just plain incredible.

I have no idea what iGN is talking about, this game is by far the best Resident Evil I have ever played. besides GTA 5 this is the best Xbox 360 game ever. they were talking about the A.I in the game and that is a lie,when I was playing as Leon S Kennedy and Helena was my partner she was doing barrel rolls, shooting enemies, taking cover and etc. And the level design on the stages look amazing, so I don't know why they would say such a thing about the graphics or so I thought. still they should not talk about a game that got a low rating which should have been a perfect 9.

RE 6 > RE 7
So what if it has more action? For me, RE6 is a great and fun game for what it is. RE7, however, is very short and repetitive (only three types of enemies, mediocore story with a small plot twist). True, it came back to the survival horror, but imo, it has WAY less content than RE6 had! You can go back to the 1998 RE game and play it all you want, if you wish. Just don't go complaining that things change after a certain amount of time, and that they are instantly garbage, if they do.
This is just my opinion though.
