once, i completely messed up may gauge, and ended up using 7 balls on a 3-ball pattern. It was an infinity scarf, so went it came off the needles, rather than sitting comfortably around my shoulders, the loop itself (aka half the circumference of the infinity loop) was the same height as me. Always mind your yarn size.
So many people are commenting this! maybe it is just an Australian thing to call it finger knitting because that's what I called it as a child too lolllll
It's so good to see people get into knitting. Those little characters are amigurumis and made in crochet, which is different from knitting with two niddles. Croche is pretty much what you did with fingerknitting, but with a hook and with actual rows and different stitches. You can do almost anything with croche, and is the technique that I learned first, also fingerknitting. Keep going!
I love it too. People rag on him and say, “Change the name of your channel! You’ve not DRAWN in ages!” But I think it’s so inspiring to see someone jump into something they don’t know how to do, with maybe some trepidation, but also a fair amount of excitement. It’s better to be bad and improve than never try! For perfectionist like me, it’s really cool to see. It’s probably inspired a lot of people. I once had a chance to learn to work with a fiber artist who... did all kinds I stuff. She knitted and crocheted and spun and did embroidery and cross stitch and had LOOMS. I so wish I’d learned from her. I got ill and we thought I’d perk up soon and be able to try it then, but it was the start of a chronic illness, and a few years later, she moved. It’s still something I want to learn at some point.

Yes! Finger knitting is really easy but very slow. I personally love crochet because there’s so many easy patterns that you can do and watch a movie at the same time.
Job well done jazza! Glad your breaking people out of the "knitting is for OLD people" stereotype. I started when I was 8 and I'm now 22. I still crochet and knit. Would love for you to tackle crocheting. Same concept TOTALLY different execution.
Jazza: I’m gonna learn how to knit Me: Skillshare ad Also Jazza: I listened to audiobooks the whole time and time just flew. Me: wait.... Audible ad????
There is NEVER too much yarn or needles! My husband made me a shipping crate to fill my yarn with. I had a pattern for a skull and cross bones that took me 3 years to figure out because I kept forgetting the line I was at. Eventually, I got it done and made a table runner that said: "Dead men tell no tales" in between the skulls.
I tried knitting and got mad, so I switched to crocheting. And I love it. I’ve done multiple blankets, cat toys, and stuffed animals. At the moment I’m in the process of making a sweater for the first time.
You can also actually finger knit a scarf too. It's a skinny scarf, but it's definitely a scarf. You have to make loops around all your fingers instead of just one. One time i made a boa out of fun fur that way
I came to the comments for this: like. Some of those examples that he showed of the 'cool things you can do with knitting'... I was like, "*stage whisper* THAT'S CROCHET!" (as someone who has crocheted for 20 years... lol)
@@rudeminnesotan is crochet harder for beginners than knitting is? I tried crocheting once... well actually three seperate times, but I could never master holding a consistent tension on the yarn. Does knitting have this same problem?
@@robodragonn9506 You can make it wider as well. Once it is at the length you want you can add on by hooking your index finger into a loop on the side of the piece and work it into another set. Kind of hard to explain but you can make a lot with just your fingers and some wool
it's always so nice to see men doing this sort of thing i always enjoy watching them do it. i have never tried Knitting before i am a Crocheter myself and i find it much faster for me but i definately will try knitting one day since my mom glave me knitting needles that should be put to use one day. thanks for sharing try crocheting one day maybe u will find that cool too :) much love from Winnipeg Manitoba Canada
I think if you want you should try crocheting too, It’s a lot quicker but not as flowey. You can also make more variety. I’m 12 and I spend all of my time crocheting.
I've been a knitter for over 10years. Everyone should learn because it's so fun, and then you have something cool at the end! Also, I love the multi colour yarn!

“i feel like i’m getting too much” dude i have 45+ skeins of yarn i use for crocheting. it’s becoming a problem but both knitting and crocheting are super fun!
I know, right? I rarely finish projects, but I love shopping for yarn. Reminds me of my mom saying, “Your eyes are bigger than your stomach” with food.
Emery R I have WAY too much yarn but if I see a color that I like that I don’t have I have to buy it xD I have a whole dresser full. I bought a “dresser” for my art stuff and it’s mostly filled with yarn 🧶 I have a problem :(
Honestly I think yarn arts are more about hoarding huge amounts of yarn all around the house instead of actually making things with it lmao I joke that I collect yarn and sometimes crochet. pff.
If you have a place to sleep and if any pets also have a place to sleep where they aren't shedding all over the yarn, then you don't have too much yarn. ;) I only have about a dozen skeins myself. I'd have more, but bills and such come first, sadly.
I'm impressed. Your stitches came out nice and even, right off the bat. One of the basic things you have to learn is stitch tension-- to relax enough that it doesn't get too tight to stab into with the needle, but keep it tight enough that the result is even looking. I made lots of stuff over the years just with the simple knit and purl stitch. You can make geometric patterns pretty easily that you make up. I never had much luck reading and following patterns other people had made up that you can buy. They kind of make me dizzy and I lose my place and get frustrated. Later I learned to crochet, enough to make myself scarves and hats. I must have made about 20 hats over the years. I like crocheting better, since there is less risk of dropping a stitch and ruining the work you've done. Just one stitch at a time on the crochet hook, as opposed to a whole row of stitches on the knitting needles. A lot less heavy also, if you are making something big. I did make a couple of afghan blankets too, and they would have been really hard to make on knitting needles,
slowly im learning to crochet and im having fun with it. so far i have been making beanies and ive tried knitting which to me is to difficult but seeing you do it makes me more inspired. thank you so much and i hope you have fun with it as well

Your finger knitting is actually crochet, which is also extremely fun :3 Especially when you combine knitting and crochet to make beautiful patterns!
So Jazza, did you know that finger knitting is actually a real crochet stitch? It's the Crochet Chain Stitch.
You can also actually finger knit a scarf too. It's a skinny scarf, but it's definitely a scarf. You have to make loops around all your fingers instead of just one. One time i made a boa out of fun fur that way

I have a whole dresser full.
