I'm Mongolian and when I was a kid I used to visit my grand grandmother every summer break. Now I am working in the US as a software engineer. I really love my nomadic people. They are so pure.

im ansinaabae rest of the world call us Indians i to got to see my grandparents at their traditional land with my parents was the best time of my life. i think i was the last generation to do so. i didnt do it with my kids. my grandparents went to the spirit world.kate reminds me of french man we lived in the lands a few seasons he was from france. emanueal deaveaux something like that. we lost contact with years ago he was like that very respectful was grossed out with anything tried anything even trapped. lol
My grandfather, Lev Sheffer, who spent his youth in Glasgow, Scotland, before Russian revolution, was working in Mongolia in 1930th. He was one of the most renowned film directors in Soviet Union of that time, and his task was to establish Mongolian cinematography and to make couple of the first movies. In the process he lived in Gobi Desert among nomads for some time. He always spoke very highly about mongolians, their hospitality and kindness! And he also said that the horse's and goat's testicles is an absolute delicacy!
I absolutely love this documentary! Kate Humble had shown this Mongolian family in such a delicate way that made everyone watching feel so involved!

Crying at the end when Kate and the family are saying their good-byes and crying and hugging. How lovely and sweet that they told her she was like a part of their family. I've always been fascinated by these nomads and hope the life style and tradition can survive and not vanish..... Lovely, respectful documentary, thank you and to the family thank you for sharing your life and home.

I love this series! I love how the English woman interacts gently and cautiously with the nomads. She's so kind and respectful and the families are so gracious to let the film crew do their thing. I love how she pitches in and does the work, too. Just a reminder that hard work is the best work. Loved it!
Totally agree with you! Kate has an incredible sense of her own strengths and weaknesses, uses humor to make awkward moments bearable, seems to have a child-like sense of wonder and truly gives all due respect, honor and dignity to her hosts. I've watched many of her documentaries and have read her articles, etc.

There are 2 things makes people love Mongolia. 1 is the open space and nature, the second is the hospitable nomadic community. I love my country. I have been traveling over 30 countries in 4 continents I but decided to stay in my home country.

This Nomadic Culture deserves every ounce of respect ✨ I've come from a country where I've witnessed many people depending entirely on what the government would feed them and they would even blame the government for their poorness while in fact the government is doing everything just to provide the basic necessities for them. I'm so impressed by how these people make a living for themselves, entirely self dependent, and without having to depend on anyone else. 💞 Salute to these people.

I am in complete awe of these beautiful people and their amazing culture! I feel a bit envious of their hardworking way of life. I can’t imagine how hard it must be, but they certainly make it look romantic. I also love it that their children go to school and are given the choice to either go to work or become nomads.

I am greatly appreciative of Kate adapting to the Mongolians' ways and approaching them with kindness and understanding. Something modern TV and interviews are often lacking. We need more people like Kate to tell the stories of our world!
Just found this in my feed. I'm first-generation American kalmykia and Mongolian descent. My father was born in 1931 his family suffered greatly during the purges and under communism. It's good to see you Mongolian people doing well and embracing their heritage. My uncle visited Mongolia the 1990s write a democracy came to the country. He told me it was a difficult transition for the country but it was wonderful nonetheless.
This makes me smile then I cry. I love this documentary. Wishing the Mongolians nomads safe and healthy life!

WOw! I don't remember the last time I saw a documentary that made me cry. And the reporter was the most lovely reporter I have ever seen, she should teach young reporters how to behave while making a documentary. I was afraid I was going to watch some pompous reporter making faces while tasting their food, but this woman is one in a million.
And the wisdom the hosts had, I am not that much surprised by that because meeting any people that live in harmony with nature speak more sense than the Doctors, Technicians, Sociologists,Psychologists, PhDs or whatever schooled persons our cancerous "improved" society produces.
Truly lovely documentary that deserves a lot more views, I am definitely seeing more from Kate Humble.

I really appreciate, the well-named, Kate Humble. She's so courageous, natural and deeply charming both inside and outside! She knows spontaneously how to be the perfect host, to adapt. She's very easy going to live with, friendly and lives truly each experience abroad utterly without complaining
Shame she doesn't know how to be the perfect guest! Why would she be acting like a host in this situation. Totally lacks the humanity you get with Bruce Parry in his Tribe series, or even Ian Wright in the early Lonely Planet videos. Just empty, intellectual commentary from a Bumbling housewife.

I don't expect perfection from a Western host any more than I would expect it from somebody from their society stepping into ours.

How sad to see, but hopefully many more will come to see the importance & beauty, in ALL of humanity treating each other as equals.
If only we could all open our eyes, minds & hearts to truth & come to realise that the history books/colonizers didn't always contain truth/speak truth & that when we remove the lies & bigotry, the man made borders, the creation of made up words/beliefs such as, "differing races", we'd all get on so much better & would probably grow to genuinely respect & love each other & if for no other reason, but simply for our "shared humanity" on planet earth.
I love this series, with Kate. She is so respectful to nomadic culture, customs and people. A very rare quality for journalists. Especially in our era. A deep respect for this amazing woman.

I am just as fascinated with other cultures around the world as she seems to be. Good luck to the Nomads, I hope future generations will be just as happy and successful as this family.
Kate's done a very good job with showing these intimate views of the nomad's life. I've been learning how the western societies are very badly influenced by materialism (I realize most unwillingly). The mongolian people's lives seem to be far richer by simply being close to nature. This may be viewed as limiting and "primitive", but I believe the spirit of the people is very rich and deep.

Why would you even think of poverty. I would say they are way more richer than most people living in New York. They don't pay thousands of mortgage, they don't live by credit cards on a daily basis. The animals that they own costs thousands of dollars!

I stumbled upon this site. Kate has a huge heart. This beautiful family could not help but love her as a family member. I fell in love with this family and sobbed when it was time for Kate to leave. Thank you for this lovely documentary.
These peoples are my relatives. I’ve visited once in a year. Sadly, the man of the home passed away half and year ago. RIP Bro! This nomadic culture is the most heavenly life in the earth! Enjoy fellas and welcome to Mongolia!

When you see and hear these people, it reminds one of the nomadic journey of these people thousands of years ago across the Bering Land Mass...Some stayed north as Eskimos while others traveled south and are the Indians of North, Central and South America...Sound and look the same...The Indians of the Americas were also immigrants.
No judgements here just like the host. I too lived with these nomads for nearly an hour and shed a tear with them. Thanks for documenting this beautiful life.

I have been to Mongolia and spend some time in the Gobi dessert. I loved sleeping in the Gurs. I loved the foods and the throat singing. It was an exciting experience.

Fascinating story. I have always been interested in nomadic lifestyle and also The Mongolian people Enjoyed the documentary
The most crazy day I had in Mongolia was a day with 20+ times of snowing in a single day. Imagine snowing then stopping with the sky beaming with the sky melting the snow then snowing again this happened in the span of 8 hours.
How beautiful. I live in the USA and from Texas, which is one of the states. We get very crazy weather here. It might be hot outside and then become cold and blow dirt. It may snow and freeze and then become warm; all in one day. It gets pretty hot where I live. Texas has many terrains. It’s flat land where I live and you can see for miles and miles. Some areas have rolling hills and a lot of greenery and humidity. It’s dry where I live though.
My parents were nomads too this lifestyle is pretty hard but it makes you 10 times healthier than urban cities residents
