Am very grateful that you made this documentary and shared it with us.
Access to so many privileged places and preserved historical places that i would never get the chance to visit.
i must say am surprised by some of the things i saw, it's a very insightful documentary.
I'm happy that saudi arabia has preserved itself from the rest of the world....otherwise all these historical places would have been destroyed. So lets leave them to preserve their country and dignity and culture and traditions without interfering. that ship wreck has remained untouched because saudi arabia has restricted unruly access to its country....otherwise it would have been looong plundered by careless tourists.
We talk about appreciating diversity yet we want saudi arabia to be the same as usa, we want women to be allowed to play sports in the open and drive and wear mini skirts...yet this is their tradition. why cant we appreciate this diversity. why dont we go to the turkana women and masai women and the ethiopian women who walk bare chested with breasts exposed and tell them about human rights and modern clothing.....but we are quick to criticize saudi arabia women for covering up and not intermixing with men.
The reason is We are jealous that saudi women have preserved their dignity and want to strip saudi people and especially their women their dignity yet on the other hand we talk about appreciating diversity. human beings are hypocrites.
If it is your culture to walk naked in the streets.....then you should also appreciate other people's culture of covering themselves. That is how the world remains interesting. Otherwise if we all eat the same food and dress the same, where is the beauty of diversity. if we all drive cars in the cities, how can we appreciate these people living in the desert with camels?
And that prince giving away so much money. I know he is rich....but not all rich people care about others. So may Allah accept it from him. wow, very insightful documentary

Actually, the tradition of the Prince giving his wealth isn't unique to Saudi Arabia. Before Americans took over America, the Indian tribal custom was the "Give away ceremony". The families who had the most would give away evrything to the families who didn't have strong young men to provide for them. When Sitting Bull rode through one of the big cities in a parade, he was sickenned and could not understand why, if the wealthy had so much, there were poor, hungry children and people on the streets. He gave away ALL his earnings to them that he aquired from his performance in Buffalo Bill's Wild West shows. I think, from my research over many years, that this custom of the "Give away" was practiced in many countries many years ago. It's a shame that others don't follow the Princes lead.

I was so afraid when I heard it first time in my life. I presumed it like a cult call back in some rural areas of the Philippines. Time passed by, I get used to it. Specially now that I understood how this is important in the religion this country I'm presently living.

We have to understand that in certain issues, the way they and including us live our lives is sometimes culturally based, the habit and traditions of that community and tribes and some have no basis in Islam. It means Allah, by way of explaining directly in the Qur'an and the Prophet (peace be upon him) has not put any limitation (in some aspects in life), and it is open-ended, where people can decide the best for themselves as long as it doesn't transgress other commandments of Allah. Eg: Qur'an does not say that women can't play competitive sports. 38:47 , it's the way and level of strictness that Saudi Arabians apply themselves which is not seen in other Muslim countries.
Sure, some might argue that we interpret the verses (Mutashaabihat verses, i.e ambiguous verses) and the hadith (sayings and actions of the prophet that muslims have to follow) differently and it manifests in that way, but it is secondary to the pillars and commandments (furu'), which is the understanding of the divine will. Scholars (those who give fatwas) between them may disagree with each other but we respect their opinion, following some and decline the other as lay Muslims.
How we dress, the way we work at our jobs, the way we interact with opposite genders and many more. It is complicated and yet simple at the same time, an oxymoron born out of our weaknesses as human beings. The main thing is that we resolve it with respect and grace, not hatred and violence. *Hold considerable regard to other societies, not judging them and be rigid in thinking we are right always. See the beauty in the difference of many cultures and seek common ground.*
*O mankind, indeed We have created you from male and female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another. Indeed, the noblest of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you. Indeed, Allah is Knowing and Acquainted.*
*~ Surah Al Hujurat (The Dwellings), Chapter 49, Verse 13 ~*
And Allah knows best, and we seek guidance and forgiveness from Him in everything we do.

In my humble opinion there's no sense of any trail in these programmes. It's a series of travel vignettes which blandly run from one into the other. There's no air or time to allow the imagination to wander and evoke history. Everything feels cramped, perhaps the presenter as well, except in the western desert which is astonishing, as well as the Red Sea. She herself admits it.

Bro that's not true he doesn't do that. it is a big sin and immoral thing to do to make up lies against the woman, its not even the prince your disrespecting its the honor of the woman themselves. You need to have eyewitness evidence before making such accusations because if not it is slander.
