That takes me back a long ways. Robin was great. He mostly took a back seat in the disco era but I always liked the old Bee Gees with him singing lead.
Nobody has a voice quite like Robin Gibb. This song is loved by MILLIONS. All three of my younger sisters favorite song. Massive radio play and record sales. Thanks again my friend.
Robin wrote this Masterpiece. The Live performances are spectacular. I saw them at SPAC N.Y. The crowd was crying and cheering during this song. Robin standing alone out front is amazing to see.
I was a fourteen-year-old freshman in high school when this song first came out in (1968). Now I am a 70-year-old senior citizen enjoying the music of my youth. While watching the youth of today enjoying the songs us seniors grew up with. Robin Gibb was the lead singer here and did most of the leads to the Bee Gees back in the 60's. This is one of the greatest songs ever penned and sung. Great reaction of an old and ailing man who has come to terms with his life and death. This song always brings me to tears. Love your reaction JMBOY.
13 years old here. So long ago, yet weirdly, 1968 feels like just yesterday that I was listening to this song on the radio 😢. Time is such a strange concept.
Such a beautiful, sad song. I loved the early Bee Gees. The real Bee Gees. It's been said that didn't feel comfortable doing their disco stuff. This is the real them. Robin Gibbs' voice brings tears to my eyes. This song speaks to so many.
Robin is lead singer in this song. His son Robin John pulled this song on his phone and laid it on Robin’s chest after he passed away. Can’t hear this song without feeling it deeply. ❤
Robin the Songbird absolutely amazing voice, his mum said when she heard Robins voice it stopped her in her tracks it went straight to her heart and his brothers agreed!! 👍🏻🤩🏴
This is Robin singing, the best voice of the brothers.Great song. There are videos of the BEE GEES in concert from Las Vegas,it has many of their best songs on it,all worth watching.
Thanks, JM - that's Robin! my favorite... usually older brother Barry sang "lead" - there are great videos of this.. "original" - as well as much later (80's) live performances... really appreciate your listen & reaction to this..
Robin was lead vocals. Fun fact...Barry didn't sing falsetto until the end of Nights on Broadway, where they improvise the end. Maurice sang higher than Barry in the song.
Robin Gibb's tremolo voice adds to the feeling and emotion of the song. He had a very unique and recognizable voice. Both he and Barry Gibb shared lead on most of their songs with Maurice singing lead on some as well. RIP to Maurice Gibb (2003) and Robin Gibb (2012).
Robin has a beautiful haunting vulnerable sadness in his voice. Robin got the idea for the melody of this song from the humming sound of a jet engine. I guess when you have that gift everything is a song. Another great song that Barry and Robin both have big parts and their voices are just incredible is, For Whom The Bell Tolls. (Video outside under the Brooklyn Bridge in New York) Robin said this song was about the breakup between their younger brother Andy Gibb and his girlfriend, actress Victoria Principle. Andy had an issue with substance abuse and tried treatments but couldn't stay drug free and Victoria couldn't stay and watch him destroy himself any longer. I don't think he thought she'd actually leave but she did. He never got over the heartbreak. Andy was a Superstar. He had a great solo career. He finally managed to get clean and was for a year but still continued the alcohol. In January of 88 they announced Andy would be joining the Bee Gees as a permanent member but sadly before that could ever be Andy passed away from Myocarditis on March 10th of 88 just 5 days after his 30th birthday. His heart was damaged from the previous drug use. Hearts all over the world were broken. If you haven't reacted to one of his many hits please react to this one. Andy Gibb on the Midnight Special singing, I Just Wanna Be Your Everything. His first three releases hit number one. You can definitely tell by his looks and voice that he's a Gibb brother. Thanks.
I'm impressed by how much thought and analysis you put into your reaction reviews. I think you were right on with this one. Robin said this was very spiritual to him. Thank you JMBOY!
Such a iconic but underrepresented song. Thanks for this reaction video Big JMBOY...big ups from Southern California. You have to check out the Reggae version by Pat Kelly. I think you'll dig it OG
Robin Gibb sang most of the Bee Gee's hits in their early career. When disco came along Barry sang lead on most songs. Try the New York Mining Disaster 1941.
Love the Bee Gees' early music especially 60's-70's. You are hearing Robin Gibb's voice in this song "I Started A Joke" from 1968. He also sang lead on "Massachusetts", "I've Gotta Get A Message To You", "How Can You Mend A Broken Heart" etc. Some of their other early hits were "New York Mining Disaster 1941", "To Love Somebody", "Holiday", "World", "And The Sun Will Shine", "Really & Sincerely", "Words", "The Singer Sang His Song", ""Lonely Days", "Melody Fair", "First Of May", "Give Your Best", "Lamplight" etc.
I was about 10 when this song stopped me in my tracks. Literally. I've been a BeeGees fan ever since. They're sound is varied. You should react to kiss of Life video. Live recording. Its awesome.

He sang like an angel, and now, he is one. God bless him Maurice and Andy, all gone way too soon. 💔 💔 💔
Maurice said,"Robin has a voice that will break your heart". He does!
Omg that is so sweet n true love Robin voice, especially "to hum the Bell tolls"give me chills
All my favorite Bee Gees' songs, have Robin singing lead! Fantastic voice!
Patty-Me 2. Major Robin fan since I was 17, and now I am 74. He is still my favorite.
Robin should have sung lead more often. Barry hogged the limelight.
Robin wrote this Masterpiece. The Live performances are spectacular. I saw them at SPAC N.Y. The crowd was crying and cheering during this song. Robin standing alone out front is amazing to see.
How fantastic for you ❤
Though Robin was the main writer, it was written by all 3.

Robin is lead singer in this song. His son Robin John pulled this song on his phone and laid it on Robin’s chest after he passed away. Can’t hear this song without feeling it deeply. ❤
This classic brings a tear to my eye everytime I hear it. Very melancholic and soulful
Robin's voice is so haunting and vulnerable. My favorite Bee Gees song. You should find one of the live performances, simply amazing.
Raise your hand if you know every word✌

Robin the Songbird absolutely amazing voice, his mum said when she heard Robins voice it stopped her in her tracks it went straight to her heart and his brothers agreed!! 👍🏻🤩🏴
THE Bee Gees are so awesome. Love them so very much! Love your reaction!
My favorite BeeGees song
Our sweet Robin
Robin Gibb sang lead on this beautiful song. Great reaction..
It was Robin the "songbird" as they call him. Best voice ever.
Robin has a natural "Vibrato" in his voice that few others have... He wrote "And The Sun Will Shine"... another awesome song/vocals.
And The Sun Will Shine is one of my very top favs.
Robin Gibb's voice is unique, also love Massachusetts
'Massachusetts' is my favorite BG's song, tho this comes in a close 2nd.
Never fails to bring a tear to my eye, would have to my favourite Bee Gees song. What an awesome bunch of brothers they were 😊
This is Robin singing, the best voice of the brothers.Great song. There are videos of the BEE GEES in concert from Las Vegas,it has many of their best songs on it,all worth watching.
Robin, voice of an angel ❤❤❤
I love this song. My mother used to play this song all of the time❤
Thanks, JM - that's Robin! my favorite... usually older brother Barry sang "lead" - there are great videos of this.. "original" - as well as much later (80's) live performances... really appreciate your listen & reaction to this..
The warble you hear in the vocal is Robin's vibrato. His voice was unique.
I love the brothers Gibb. So many great songs over the decades. ❤
Robin's voice is smooth as silk!
Robin was lead vocals. Fun fact...Barry didn't sing falsetto until the end of Nights on Broadway, where they improvise the end. Maurice sang higher than Barry in the song.
This song is on the playlist I want for my funeral.
This is my top 3 Bee Gees songs!
Robin sounds so good in this. Love this song. 😊

I think Robin would be impressed with your insightful analysis of his very well written song.... I certainly am, but not surprised.
I adore this song

Great reaction and very much on point, in my opinion!
Robin (not Barry) did lead vocals on this one. You should check out his live performance of it in 1997 One Night Only. Stellar
The great mystery of "I Started a Joke". Great reaction!!!
You can add another Classic to your "Sad Songs" Playlist
Such a iconic but underrepresented song. Thanks for this reaction video Big JMBOY...big ups from Southern California. You have to check out the Reggae version by Pat Kelly. I think you'll dig it OG
I love the play on words and that's no joke!
By now you know it’s Robin Gibb singing lead. Sweetest voice
Oh Robin💕
Robin Gibb sang most of the Bee Gee's hits in their early career. When disco came along Barry sang lead on most songs. Try the New York Mining Disaster 1941.
In their early career, Barry sang lead on just as many hits as Robin.
Liked and subscribed and shared
much appreciated !
@JMBOYTV ABSOLUTELY
This one is going to be well known/popular. Worth waiting for..... Smile.

Those are all great songs... Spicks & Specks
Barry & Robin share lead on I've Got To Get A Message & How Can You Mend A Broken Heart.
🙏ROBIN💔
Robin Gibb sang this. Heart felt song.
Robin Gibb's son played "I Started a Joke" on his phone just after his father died on 20 May 2012.
Robin wrote and sang it while his brothers did the field and played guitar
I was about 10 when this song stopped me in my tracks. Literally. I've been a BeeGees fan ever since. They're sound is varied. You should react to kiss of Life video. Live recording. Its awesome.
This is a perfect example of the term video ruined radio. You need nothing but the music.❤️
Patty-Barry pkays the huitar, but its Robin who sings the song. He got standing ivations everytime he would sing the song.

Always live or Video 50s threw 80s 😊
I agree with all the previous comments. Robin was a songbird. 😢
React to dont fall in love with me from bee gees 🎉
👍🫵🫵

Barry could not sing this song. This was his younger brother, Robin. He had a powerful, haunting voice.
Not Barry, Robin. The most beautiful voice.
And they are still a joke today.
