Tommy really is a legend. Putting in the decades of pioneering free routes on el cap... it's just so much harder than I can fathom. Anybody who has tried climbing 5.10 when you've put days of humping loads, hauling, scrambling, suffering through heat/cold - knows that it's a whole new level. To punch together pitch after pitch of 12+, 13, 14 is just mind melting. I LOVE seeing Jorg in his prime, honing his skills on such a high level route!
I was in The Valley in '80-'82 and did some minor walls. When I heard about Lynn freeclimbing The Nose it was almost superhuman and an incredible accomplishment coming after years of attempts by strong men. When I heard Honnold freesoloed El Cap I couldn't fathom it, figuring it would be done some day in the far distant future. Seeing routes like Dihedral Wall, Muir Wall, NA Wall, and all the others transforming El Cap into a freeclimbing destination blows my mind. The strength of anyone who can do it is mind-bending.
Shots on the Black Arch pitch are just spectacular, everything is amazing - the lighting, the sequences, exposure, the rock...

Unfortunately not a couple anymore
Annoying and pretentious
Serious
One of the very best climbing films EVER

I rope soloed Dihedral in 2000. So impressed with your accomplishments, thanks for sharing this video.
How many days did you spend on the route? Any solo of El Cap is pretty badass.
OMG!!!
Paul - I just randomly stumbled across your trip report from the Dihedral Wall, looking forward to reading it
Oh man that crux sequence by Katha 5:46-6:36, spectacular!
I usually don't comment, but this film was beautifully done! I would watch another in a heartbeat.
Spectacular work. I can tell you worked so hard on this production and kudos for the send. Big up

That was a beautiful accomplishment. And beautifully edited 😉
man, that sequence at 8:20.. breathtaking. Not used to granite, probably has a bit more friction than limestone, but still, awesome climbing!
Fantastic. I wish I could also go back to the valley.
